Sony A7CII Full Frame Camera - Fake Shutter Sound? I am not sure what is going on here but I wanted to make this video to ask that very question and hopefully get to the bottom of this.
The Fuji X-T series (and X-H) had a similar fake shutter sound, but you could change the volume of it or disable it entirely. I noticed it as soon as I used the A7CR for the first time and went to look for the option to disable it immediately only not to find anything.
I just purchased the a7c2, and I can definitely hear the fake shutter sound. People who say they can’t hear it are probably in an age group that can’t perceive certain frequency ranges.
Thanks for ruining my A7C! I actually prefer the shutter noise when the speaker is covered. I can't believe in the over 1,000 menu options there is not a single one that mentions that.
I think they added the noise because the camera has only one mechanical shutter curtain. The shutter noise you hear is from the mechanical curtain closing/opening. If you lower the shutter speed you get a two noises one of the mechanical shutter and another which is supposed to tell you that the silent (electronic curtain) closed. So my guess it’s there to tell you that you are done taking your photo.
This doesn't get super silent but 100% silent X100V is a little toy in specs compared to this. 2sec handheld IBIS, AI chip, what more do you want oh yes the full flippy screen also ;)
What camera are you on to be put off by a beast, are you put off by a simple click? I sold my A7RIII and that is one hell of a Camera and not dissapointed at all. Come on it's got the AI chip of the A7RV and we're talking of the shutter sound???????
Hi there, I switched to the A7C II because I wanted a lighter setup compared to the A7IV. However, I returned the A7C II on the same day I got it because of the fake shutter sound. I don't understand why this feature exists or why it can't be turned off :(.
@@PlayGameToday You totally don't get it. This is not about turning on silent shooting. Silent shooting uses electronic shutter which is not what we are talking about. There's an artificial shutter sound with MECHANICAL shutter and it cannot be turned off (confirmed with both A7C II and A7C R). Maybe watch the video first before commenting :).
@@PlayGameToday Well, tell us then, what's the setting then? It's not Silent shooting because as I told you that just makes the camera operate in electronic shutter which is not what the video is about. We want to turn off the artificial shutter sound that goes together with the mechanical shutter. Edit: And watch this video, once again, slowly, and try to concentrate if you're able to ;)
@@petrsmejkal3652 You don't seem to know the physics of audio wave spread in space. Once again, the sound you hear is coming from the e-Front Curtain Shutter. Read my words carefully again, thoughtfully. And conclude that the speaker holes are the additional space through which the sound from the e-Front Curtain Shutter is spreaded. There is no “fake sound” or whatever else you have in mind. If you cover the speaker, naturally the sound will not be as bright because you are covering up the high frequencies that come from the e-Front Curtain Shutter. Hopefully, now you've grasped this point for yourself, you'll no longer have a reason for pointless arguments.
this is caused because the Sony A7C and A7C II have only a single shutter curtain and to clarify that the sound it's making is a shutter release it also makes a fake camera click noise at the same time. You can turn this off in "audio signals" in the wallet menu.
@@kingghidorah8106 The main menu is monochrome on the A7C2. The yellow menu ("Setup") does not contain this function either. What exactly is the name of the menu you're talking about (as displayed in the camera) and what is the menu item called where you can ostensibly disable the artificial shutter sound that accompanies the mechanical shutter on the A7C2?
I love the noise, who cares anyway what shutter sounds like, must be some boring photographer to give that much importance, get out there and shoot. Each camera has a different shutter sound anyway😂
Sounds a lot better when you cover the speaker.

I believe the first gen a7c did this as well (probably same shutter mechanism?). It's... strange. I hate it.

I do too, it’s so strange to supplement the actual sound. I can’t figure it out.

When you block the outlet of the speaker, could it be that you also block the connection to camera internals, thereby changing the sound path?
Fuji does the same on the X100V, except you can turn it off an the camera becomes super silent with the leaf shutter.
This doesn't get super silent but 100% silent X100V is a little toy in specs compared to this. 2sec handheld IBIS, AI chip, what more do you want oh yes the full flippy screen also ;)
This alone puts me off of buying the a7cr. what an interesting design choice by sony. 🧐

It can be turned off - use the Silent shooting mode man and RTFM

how do you find "menu wallet"?

too bad they dont make this clear, and also not customizable in the settings. would be cool to see. so like the sound, some dont

a6400 has better sound
Its not fake sound, this is sound of e-Front Curtain Shutter
No it is not, there's an actual fake shutter sound coming from the speaker together with the mechanical (physical) EFCS which cannot be turned off.
