For my daughter, I noticed that many treatments and therapies required the diagnosis of autism for insurance purposes. Thank you for mentioning all of the digestive issues that come along with it. I don't know if parents weren't telling their child's pediatrician or if our pediatrician just didn't have enough experience with children on the spectrum, but my daughter's doctor acted like she had never heard such a thing when I had brought it up. My daughter also has immense issues with sleeping at night in one sitting and that came as a surprise to her doctor as well. Thank you for answering people's questions and sharing difficulties of people on the spectrum. God bless 🌞💖

The consequence of getting a diagnosis in my country is being forbidden to drive a car - even if you have been driving your whole life, no exceptions.
I have psychosomatic issues (which make me scared), had them my whole life, but they flared up during a lot of stress and became more obvious, less "normal". It is so interesting how it is all intertwined!

What? Your ability to drive a car is not at all minimised by autism? 😱 Which country do you live in?
There is a difference between comorbid stomach issues and psychosomatic issues though. There are Genes mutated that, for example, cause the stomach mussles to be weaker, which can lead to a buch of problems. Psychosomatic means that for example your elevated stress raised hormone levels that then cause problems. You can for example get Gastritis form high stress for a long time. - not at all to say that that is less valid!!! I just wanted to highlight that there is a difference 😊
Yeah I agree, that's why I choose to study medicine 😍

@@theartisticautist3123 I am from Czechia so we are kinda neighbours, haha. A lot of people don't know it, even professionals, so people on the spectrum still regularly drive. The community was working on changing the legislation but then covid came and no one has time to look into it and I fear it might be swept under the rug.
Oh, I know they are different! I always had stomach issues even though technically I have no intolerances/food allergies. But it works together with the psychosomatic stuff, I just didn't want the comment to be too long.
I am starting physics at uni next year and I want to do humanities after because I feel like I cannot understand the world without looking into different areas! Medicine is super interesting and it seems you really enjoy it! (Love how you connect that with your art and activism work!)

@@stolenbyfairiesmorrigan5085 I hope you are able to change it after covid!
      Also: hi neighbour 😊
Ah ok I understand 😊 Stomach issues are very common in autism, but psychosomatic stomach problems are really connected to mental illnesses so it's a double chance we have 😅
Uhh physics is so interesting!! If there would be a way to be in physics without ever calculating I would be so in 😂😂 But I am happy with watching documentaries and Dr. Becky and so on 😅😂
      I feel you 😅
Yeah I am in love since I was very small 😍😍

@@theartisticautist3123 I hope so, too, I don't really need it right now but I know a lot of people on the spectrum rely on having a car.
I had honestly been looking forward to physics (we start learning it in year 6) before I went to preschool, haha. I have some psychological issues around math because of my middle school/high school teacher but I do love solving problems and simplifying equations, haha.
Good luck with all your ordeals!
