I like this journey that you are on with the PTR 91, and your comments describing your relationship with this rifle as being like your child. That tells me that you really love it, and are doing to do whatever it takes to maintain it and get it to run to the very best of it's ability. An _Epic Tale_ indeed, and an epic rifle. I'm invested for part 2.
Magpul PRS stock on mine. Athlon Helos BTR 2-12X42 scope. It is compact. Long in the back. Short in the front. Talking about behind the elevation turret and in front of. No handle clearance problems at all. Vortex Pro series extra high scope rings have a cut out. So I can use the iron sights. With the scope on. Bill Springfield trigger job and buffer system. Went with a ZEV hybrid muzzle device that reduces flash and recoil. They are on sale right now. I used split washers to time it. Way easier. Spent months looking for the right scope. The easy way would have been to go with a LPVO. But I wanted MPVO. It’s like this scope was made for this rifle.
I plan on doing optics in part 3. I’ll discuss the aches and pains I had finding the right optic, because this rifle can present a host of hurdles to overcome, as you’ve probably experienced. Good thing that you can still use the irons. I have a qd mount on my red dot, but if I take it off, the spuhr stock would have to come off too, unless I broke my cheek bone. That’s the only way I may get low enough to use the irons. Which sucks because they are some of my favorite iron sights ever. I’ve heard good things about the Springfield trigger job, but I have the stock trigger with a home polish job. Glad to hear you got a good setup with the optic. That was probably the toughest obstacle I faced with the PTR 91.
Your tip about suppressors. There is a sort of industry standard thread on most suppressors back end you can literally adapt about 90% of the cans out there to any mounting/muzzle device you want. Even plain ole A2 birdcage. I’ve got three YHM cans all in different muzzle devices. My ars got dead air devices. My sig556 got the standard YHM flash suppressor. I’ve got a pinned and welded 14.5 with a birdcage that uses a griffin armament A2 adapter. I’ve got a mix match booster and piston for my r9 for pistol use. An AK with jmac 14x1 left hand 2 chamber brake for suppressor use on that. It’s literally a mix and match type of world right now. My PTR runs the spuhr stuff too. With the enhanced standard length buffer. 36° locking piece and a vg6 3 chamber brake. Pretty useable DMR after you get used to the “ka-shunk” it’s got going on. Looking forward to More
That’s some useful information. I only know the basics about cans. There’s so much out there it makes my head spin. And for some damn reason, seems like everytime I get serious about getting a suppressor and a muzzle device for it, I see something else shiny and lose focus. I don’t think I’d suppress all of my firearms, but I do have a 14.5 p&w that I would like to suppress, so what you said about the adapter has got my ears perked up. And yes, more PTR 91 to come. Next will be all of the damn furniture I’ve bought for it. Lol
If you cut the barrel down to 14.5 and weld a surefire procom muzzle brake to make it legal, you'll piss off everyone around you. But recoil is about an AK 😂
Awesome vid! Is your thread pitch M15x1 or 5/8x24? I've got a similar flash hider in M15x1 because I want to run suppressed, but it doesn't quite cover all the threads the way the stock brake does. Did you have a similar issue?
My thread pitch is 5/8x24. I believe some of the older ptr 91s had the 15x1, but that wasn’t available when I got mine. The silencerco ASR did cover all the threads. The two other models I have fully cover the threads on those guns as well. I think I’d be a tad nervous if all the threads weren’t covered lol. Hope this helped!
@@jtbee24 a jam nut will work. My iwi ace came with a jam nut behind an A2 flash hider. I removed the jam nut and A2 and put on the ASR flash hider and there is a slight gap, but all of the threads are covered so it’s just aesthetics for me. Hope it works out.

Glad to hear your invested. I need to get motivated and make part 5! Appreciate you watching.
The PTR is my favorite general purpose rifle for my part of the country. Subscribed.
I’ve got a real love/hate relationship with it lol. Thanks for subbing. Hopefully i can provide some useful info!
OMFG the George Bush "Fool Me Once" clip/reference.... aw hell naw, he didn't!! 😂😂😂😂

That shirt is perfection
One of my favorite shows
I did the same thing with parts.
Get a PSG1 selector switch. It's definitely worth it.
Awesome video RT, Thanks for the information!

Make a video about ultradyne brake on the ptr91! I saw great things about 'em
@@bigfootog6579 no video needed. They are effective on every gun 😂. Then again, they are like a tank barrel brake so they should be lol

Yep. Learned they switched to 5/8x24 after I posted. Guess I’ll have to find a jam nut to fill the gap. Thanks again!

@RTarms oh I remember that, but I'm curious of why as a political statement?
