I've watched your overhaul videos for awhile now, I recently just bought an old Santa Fe GP7 from Athearn at my local hobby store, and thanks to you, watching how you put such effort into fixing them up. I was able to restore a non-running loco and make it run!
I always enjoy an SMT Mainline unboxing of random locos. I actually kind of envy Harrison a little bit because he manages to get the kind of old models that I would like to own.
Thank you for getting me back into old model trains. I've never had a proper layout or the space for one, but your videos have gotten me into repairing old locomotives, especially those old Varney steam engines. I absolutely love the look and feel of the old die cast metal, the simple design of the drive, as well as the incredibly intricate valve gear. I've gone from none to 2 of their locomotives within a month with a third one on it's way! I always look forward to your repair videos, especially when you're working on those old die cast ones. Keep up the good work!
The front of the boiler is the smokebox door. Also, that CN FM C-Liner with all wheel drive is a later AHM model. And the life like high hood is a GP38-2
Also, the Bachmann BN GP30 was a retooled Lionel BN GP30 (only difference being the top of the locomotive painted gray on Bachmann's); considering that someone told me Lionel sold their 1970s-80s HO Scale toolings to Bachmann
Hey Harrison, you got some nice vintage locomotives in that lot. I had quite a few of those same locomotives when I was a teenager many many moons ago. I sold them all to a collector over 30 years ago and used the money to invest in some blue box Athearn diesels. 3 Family Lines SD 40-2s (2 powered and a dummy) and 4 Santa Fe GP35s (2 powered and 2 dummies) both sets with matching bay window cabooses. I eventually sold them to a different collector and bought some Broadway Limited SD40-2 locomotives in Burlington Northern with DCC and Sound with a matching caboose of course. That was about 18 years ago. I now have 22 DCC Sound equipped locomotives and 8 DCC only locomotives all in Santa Fe paint schemes with 12 matching cabooses. I don't run trains without cabooses. And I have 165 freight cars and the complete Super Chief passenger train. I'm currently in the process of designing a layout for a 14 x14 spare bedroom. Sorry, I know this is a long comment. I really enjoy watching your videos, especially the unboxings and when you work on the locomotives and bring them back to life.
Quite a few locos in the lot. I had an old AHM BL2 in the C&O paint scheme that I got for a birthday present, and it was one of the first engines that I got for my trainset.
1 word. Merch. Make merch, we'll buy your t-shirts, we all need t-shirts all the time. You need to diversify your income portfolio. There's no shame in hawkin shirts, it's better than some of the other stuff folks do for money. Just sayin, you have the fans, we like you, it's a 2 way street and it's all good.
Harrison that up f unit with the all-wheel drive, isn't a 70's era model, it's a late 1990's model, I have one from when I got it in a train set for my fourth birthday. granted mine has seen better days and is awaiting repairs much like that one.
im a new fan and i love all of these video keep up the good work and hope i will get my first ho locomotive soon so keep posting and i wish i was as smart as you but i barely know anything about trains but im still a train fan
That is one large lot of locos. Quite a few are going to need some TLC. I very confident you will bring them back to life. Nothing you can't handle. From Texas
You're truly an inspiration to me. I acquired an old Erie 0-6-0T at a show; I'm not sure about the brand. By watching your videos, I managed to get it running again. It still needs some work, but it's in a much better condition than when I initially got it. Thank you.
I love watching your videos. I love that people know there hobbies. And you are the one that inspired me to start locos. I'm on n guage and have only 3 locos atm and would love engines like your but my hobby store only sells British trains.
My favorite of that lot is that little Erie 0-6-0 steam switcher. Been looking for a little steam switcher model loco to go with my 'early 20th century Buffalo, NY waterfront' backdrop on my setup, complete with large reprint black & white photos of the 'Great Northern' elevator (now sadly gone) and the 'grain elevator row' along the Buffalo River. Whoever had that collection previously apparently really liked the 'cab body' type locos. Nice haul.
If you don’t remember me that’s fine I was watching the Hershey factory livestream and I just want to say thank you for existing I started model trains about December of last year and watching all of your videos has been so helpful you are amazing at what you do please don’t ever stop
Hey SMT, just wanted to say remember that “” Jack in the box I sent you yeah, you might wanna dump it out on camera and look at the bottom of it. There was a surprise that you missed.😂
I have really enjoyed the unboxing videos. I'm always happy to see runners come out of them. The last lot I got only had one runner in it. I did get a locomotive that I'm working on for you. Just have to finish it up and send it to you.
Enjoying this video...I always hit the like button but rarely comment...I just want to share the news that Hershey's has purchased their former property in Smith's Falls and will be returning in some capacity 😎👍
Out of all those units, the BL2 and C-Liners are the most interesting. The BL2 had a chequered career, being unreliable/hard to service for mainline service, and really awkward for branchline ("BL") service. C-Liners ran everywhere, but they were again unreliable and thus got cornered into specific regions where the last ones standing usually had the working parts out of their sisters. On the subject of "boxes of trains", I have recently dived into N scale, both to operate as a narrow gauge quarry line alongside my HO trains, and to run mainline trains on their own just for fun. I'm sourcing N scale parts as well, just as I did for my HO scale collection. I was impressed when I saw first-hand how much the quality of N scale equipment has improved/refined over time.
Reminds me of the lot i got few weeks ago. I think it was only a couple of locos but mostly freight cars and passenger car mix. All in all some of them can be parts for the other ones that don't work or vice versa.
Hey harrison, emd diesel spotting is easy as long as you can see the roof. Two large fans is a gp38, three large fans is a gp40, and two large fans with a small fan in between is either a gp35 or a gp30. These are all b truck diesels. they have c truck models of these as well. I love your repair videos
Brilliant, I have a question for you, in the music video Last Train to trancecentral by the KLF any idea what the loco is? II would love one. Thankyou.
Hi there, great video again, have you ever thought of setting a repair business up for repairing other peoples trains? You have a great talent & you shouldn't let it go to waste! All the best
Wow scrumptious you about to get a silver play button. That’s insane. It’s cool to see how far you’ve come. I look forward to the day you have your own shop, a day I’ve known is coming since I first saw your channel.
GREAT video! Fun fact I got to ride a western Maryland BL2 in West Virginia. My favorite engine was the CSX engine mainly because those are the types of trains I see where I live!
Hi SMT. Will you be doing anymore repair video? These a very helpful and vey fun to watch. I too love the unboxing videos. We all can’t air to see more from you. God bless.
Love this video I have bought some Locos that looked like total garbage with detached trucks etc and they still ran. Sometimes it is most rewarding when the garbage loco runs perfect! I know they are junk but I love those lifelike gp38 union pacific's

That's great to hear. I'm thinking about doing a series on making a compact layout to use with limited space.

Quite a few locos in the lot. I had an old AHM BL2 in the C&O paint scheme that I got for a birthday present, and it was one of the first engines that I got for my trainset.
Wow, thats quite the lot!
And man that Uboat looks clean!
A CNW F3/F7 and some FM C-liners in the same video? Perfect
Some duds but your parts bin will luv you lol! You can be the king of locomotive organ transplants, giving new life to many
Exactly!

SMT unboxings are always the best! Keep up the good content SMT!
Beauty CN C-Liner... and all axle drive? Wow. Best one in the batch. John
It must have been a later model.
Hey Harrison! Nice video! Its great to see this great content being made still! Nice find on that lot!
Nice haul, I remember having a lot of those
Your tabletop looked like the holding pen tracks at Larry's Truck&Electric🚂🪓👨🔧
The train man is back, love your videos. Keep up the good work.

On one of your videos, you should put every Bachmann F unit that's able to roll on your track and run them. That'd make for some crazy entertainment!
Maybe so
Harrison....NICE HAUL!!!! 😀
Another Great video by SMT Loved it. Be safe and have a good day!

I've been looking for a Amtrak F40 for awhile. Always keeping my eyes open at train shows and what not. Cool video!
SO CLOSE TO 100K!!
I bought a LOT purchase like this years ago. Always great when you get a few surprise runners! Fantastic lot you bought H!
Really nice video of these locomotives here in ho scale! I hope you get some of those restored sooner or later. That cnw f7 looks pretty interesting.
Case lots, pallet boxes, then a container o trains! When will it end?😂
That is one large lot of locos. Quite a few are going to need some TLC. I very confident you will bring them back to life. Nothing you can't handle. From Texas
The ones that are duplicates you could always just change the paint scheme to something you done have. Great video as always.
Or parts units, can never have enough spare parts when it comes to vintage units
Not a bad idea.
I usually don't scrap a unit unless it's clearly beyond repair.@@itz_lexiii_

Most common locomotive in North America*

Love your videos 🥰
I wish I could have the BL-2. It looks so cool!
Love the lot unboxing videos, keep up the great work!

Thanks Harrison for the video. Nice score I see more repair video in the future. Nice going through the, box never know what you get with eBay lots.
My man got the infamous Bachmann UP 866 now. I have one but it don't run
Once again, yet another great video Harrison. Keep up the good work!
SMT, I am down for a giveaway!😉😂 On the lookout for a GP 7 or 9, any livery.
It’s always a good day when there’s a new SMT Mainline video
Thanks
Just a thought have a rail yard with nonfunctional’s being repaired with a pass through for functioning ones?
I like the idea but I don't think I have the space for that.
It’s always great to see a SMT unboxing! Definitely have your work cut out and I can’t wait to see these running!
That Erie 0-6-0 is an old Italian Rivarossi locomotive, that they slightly Americanized for the US market. 1960's or late 50's
SUPER JOB HARRISON!
Thanks.

Great video, good to see that old iron hit the rails again.
You should repaint two of those stanta fe diesels in your channel colors since they are so common and you can say you have a special one

I would say the Märklin 3000 or 3029 would be a contender to the most common loco in the world at least from at Scandinavian perspective
That phase 2 f40ph looks nice got to find some amfleets to go with it
Nice Collection of Engines.
The erie tank engine looks like a märklin one, you could run it with the wakefield train
The UP high hoods are GP38s and the weird BN unit near ghe end of the pile was a GP30.
OH MY GOD 7000 AWAY FROM 100K !!!!!! Let’s go Harrison !!!
Yeah!
What made you wait a year to open this little treasure chest?
Mostly time, the window in the day to film these videos is limited due to activity in the house.
Santa Fe F unit you called Smokercraft you should fix it up and then add paint, graffiti, or Lettering and make it say smokercraft
I would love for you to do an episode of this, but when the locomotive struggles but gets going, we see the full lap of the train
Fairly decent haul for that lot.
I love it when this guy says "eh"
Train lots are a huge part of your hobby considering you need to have trains on your layout to play.
Love the video. Thanks for putting it up. Enjoyed it.

some nice trains i was wondering how many trains are in your huge collection i have three trains ones 3d printed
You should make a little scrap yard layout so you can put all your scrap trains on it
