But how can you be wreckles then?
That's actually a really good point, it should be added to all cars as an emergency button but without the need of completely removing the handbrake.
Good point. Like sporty cars can have both.
I've never done a handbrake turn, but I like knowing I COULD if I ever wanted to!

Little Britain's classic
Electronic safety features in cars, a.k.a, “how to make driving less fun while simultaneously removing the skill needed to drive”
Most cars arent designed to be fun, they are made to be as simple as possible to control so that less mistakes are made and keep people safe. If you want to have fun with your cars you modify them your self and go to a track, that way its YOUR car that handles how you made it to. I know it sucks that most cars arent fun sporty designs, it just makes the 350zs i build so much more expensive.
@@Pheatan yeah but this is a Golf R.. Not an Golf 1.6 TDI
I say we outlaw all electronic safety measures except ABS. The world would be a much better place. Simply having automatic transmissions allows bad drivers to be on the roads. I say if you can't control a car without the safety equipment, what will happen if anything fails? Also, what if your starter fails? A clutch will have you moving in seconds.
That's done because of security reasons.
Not like 90% of people on the road have any skill in the first place.

A hot hatch should never ever have an electronic handbrake no matter how sophisticated and clever it is.
Try telling that to the people at Tesla and Toyota. They want to take all the fun out of driving with totally automatic self-driving blobs.
largol33t1 self driving cars are safer than actual drivers
Why's 6 afraid of 7? Cause 789. That might be true but if I wanted to be driven round, I’d take the bus. We buy cars to drive around in rather than the other way round.

0:59, who else was reminded of Johnny English and Agent Tucker. Especially when Chris says, "the Germans have though of everything haven't they," he sounds a lot like Johnny English.
I am continuously disappointed that Chris Harris doesn't clown around more. He needs to be a bit less Tiff Needell, especially considering that Tiff Needell off script is - and this is verified - completely and totally insane.
@@jrshaul More clowning around would be good but it has to be a balance. I think the audience has taken so well to Chris Harris because he acts like himself, which includes not always clowning around. Many of the post-Clarkson presenters who were not well-received were trying to be like the trio which included clowning around, but that meant the new presenters had to act a bit fake, which is why many people didn't like their presenting. So while Chris Harris might be marginally better if he clowns around more he can't stray to far away from himself. If he did he be just like all the post-Clarkson presenters who aren't on Topgear anymore.

BMW will always. Always. Go for the cheaper option on safety equipment. Until such time as it passes the point at which the public demand something, to a certain standard, they will not provide it.
Man they are really struggling for view after Clarkson left.
4.5 million views? I don't watch the new Top Gear but that's hardly "struggling for views".
In some older cars, it still works "as desired", the problem is, you can't modulate the electronic garbage, and it takes too long to activate/de-activate. Nothing is better than the old handle. Modern cars are getting more and more crap, not only is the last tiny bit of anarchical fun taken out of it, it constantly tells you what to do and does so itself if you don't. Sorry, autonomous cars, you can all collectively bite it.
There was a point where tech just assisted you (like ABS and rev-matching) but now we are heading over the peak and down the other side of the mountain to where the car takes control.
Computer doesn't say No... Computer says NEIN! IT IS VERBOTEN!
Too much technology sucks all the fun out of driving. It diminishes your skills too when you rely too heavily on it. The car I learned on, the only electronic device it had was the radio. 😁
Did it have organic lights?
Martin Harding perhaps it had candles! 😂 To be fair though, the point is right, you do have to concentrate more in older cars. No driver aids to save you.
Ok fossil
the renault 12 which i learned how to drive in didn't even have that .
That's why I'll NEVER buy a silly Tesla. Those are for arrogant bullies who vape in their cars, claiming we're all "old farts" because we still enjoy having some control of the car. If Tesla gets its way, we won't even be able to actually drive our cars. Meanwhile. Elon Musk keeps a collection of over 20 exotic cars that have "ancient engines" and use a "caveman transmission." He's a hypocrite. He probably wants to take away control of our cars because the moron bought a new McLaren F1 and wrecked it! It's true. Look up the story online.
I always wanted to try this!!! Good to know how modern handbrakes work at high speeds!
I absolutely love autohold and not having a gear selector and parking brake taking up space (Mercedes), but in a fun car you absolutely want to have those fun things. Nothing can replace a proper manual and handbrake.
Yes replace everything with electronics in my car including the steering wheel, the pedals we don't need that we just tell a computer what to do with our voice. Handbrake? Manual stick shift? what are you talking about? Remove all of that replace it with boring electronics, mirrors replace them with computer gaming monitors, seats we don't need those we just need a simple pole that you stick in your asshoĺe as it arises from the floor when you start up your car.
@@kpsiex it isn't a racing car, but a car made for work. You like racing on the road? But on the road safest is the main thing: it's a vehicle, not a Supercar. What if your friend scared of a fast movement uses the handbrake? You'll go out of the Road... It happens... That's why a racing car isn't an utilitary car.
As soon as I found out that I could disable Auto Hold in my car, I did. Having it off forces people to get their clutch disengagement point right. Having it on makes people rely on it too much.
@@kpsiex Well said.
@@TrioLOLGamers Excessive technology makes things unsafe aswell. Someone who's used to Auto Hold will rely on it too much, even on cars that don't have it.
