For real before the internet became this evolved, it was so much struggle to find information to learn, you could find some random books but if you are a fan of someone you couldnt learn from them directly unless you were super rich.

Such a great personality 😂 he has such a cool teacher vibe. is respected by all but truly connects with everyone. What a great loss. It’s so sad that he had to pass so soon but watching these videos it feels as it hasn’t happened.
His personality is so strong the joy of watching these video can succeed the sadness his death caused.

My brain just doesn’t understand how on Earth you can just draw all this from your mind, and when you draw it, it’s so good and makes sense, and it flows so perfectly….. I just don’t understand haha

I know this a year since you posted comment but this to answer anyone else also find this video- he said in previous videos that he would chose for example animals. He would draw what he liked. If liked tiger, he'd draw tigers but he'd draw them in all kinds of positions until he got so good with drawing tigers from different angles, perspective which he said wasn't easy but kept doing them until he moved on to something else. Let's say a bike. He would learn to draw a bike, he's study it, observe it and draw it over and over and over again, from different perspective, angles, height, style etc. Then when got good at that, he'd move to other objects, including people. This is how he did it. There is no secret to it, they all who are masters say this is how they did it. Many didn't learn from traditional artist but respected those methods and yet found their own way due to always drawing.

I worked as an assistant animator for about 20 years but left the animation business in about 2003 and then about 2019 first saw Kim JG's work and was hooked. What I like is how he works straight on the paper with his felt or ink and explains his work in visual pictures, few words are needed although I would love to be able to speak face to face.
3 things I learnt, carry a sketchbook and draw something everyday, and, the story is everything. If you have no story your project will fail even when you have the best artists working with you.
Go to life drawing classes, even the pro's went to them.
I have 2 favourite comic artists, Sergio Aragones, at one time he was the fastest cartoonist in the world and drew for Mad magazine and wrote and drew Gilbert Sheldon who drew the Fabulous Furry Freal Brothers and Fat Freddy's Cat.
