Never had to hide my yarn purchases. Quite the opposite. If I am out with hubby doing errands, he will ask if we need to stop at the craft store. Always, yes. Then I will find HIM in the yarn section before I even get there, and he is picking out yarn! "Feel how soft this one is," "Do you have this shade?" "Do you need to replenish any colors?" "You should just get all three, why pick?" I love my hubby.
My last purchase of yarn, when it was delivered, my husband said "please tell me that's not yarn". But he apologized. I really needed it, I had to throw away a huge amount of yarn as it got damaged.
I just went by my daughter’s house today to pick up two big boxes of yarn I had shipped to her house. Hubby is out of town. He will never notice the additional skeins
No my husband binge watches tv shows, apparently so I can finish what I’m doing. Here is the scenario. Me “ok I’m done, we can go to bed it’s getting late” My husband “ I don’t mind watching another episode if you want to keep crocheting” 😏😏😏
12!!🎉🎉 I have croceted for 50ish years on and off. I'm just not devoted! 😂. No, I have a few other hobbies to, but I also still work full time. 😅. P. S. I still get laughs and smile out of watching you, and a lot of great ideas. Thanks!
I can relate to 8 🤭 I truly do enjoy it. I have to have a project to make to buy yarn, unless it’s thrifted or on sale. Also, like you, unless I make it with the intention of gifting it, I tend to keep them.
I live in the Scottish Highlands, on the North Sea. One of my favourite activities is to sit out in the garden on a blanket, with my cat Angus, and just listen to the sea. So peaceful. It's my ''me time''. Makes me happy 😊
I can add one I bet we’ve all done, and that’s “crochet until it hurts.” And the “it” can be so many things or combination thereof. Eyes, back, wrists, hands, where you stab your fingertip with the hook, elbows… I REALLY try not to, and remind myself it’s supposed to be fun… but in a combination with the “just one more row/round” mentality, I can really make myself sore.
Managed to hurt my shoulders and elbow so bad when I was crocheting my graduation work that I had to stop for a couple years, and find new creative outlets. I still get sore now and then but I certainly learned a lesson on taking it easy, and to stretch those muscles out!
I can relate! 🤣I try not to do this as well by reminding myself that if I stop before the pain, I can easily pick the project up tomorrow and continue, painfree. Never works!
I spent three weeks knitting a very fine gauge sweater with an intricate stitch pattern a couple of years ago and after I completed it I had full on trigger thumb. If you don't what that is, just let me tell you it is almost incapacitating (it is related to carpal tunnel syndrome, I think.) It took two months to recover, and I thought I'd never pick up a crochet hook or knitting needle again. Yes, we need to remember to pace ourselves!
Instead of watching TV, I binge audiobooks. Also, yes on crochet vacation. I recently told a friend that I just want to spend a weekend in a cabin with no one else to crochet by myself.
My quirky habit is I connect all my yarn scraps and wind them into cakes so I can keep them by my bed and crochet continuous Granny square blankets in the dark. Before bed, in the middle of the night if I wake up, whatever. Once they start getting big I sleep under them while crocheting!
What an amazing and useful "quirky habit" !! If I tried crocheting in the dark, I know the results would be awful - and half the pleasure is the COLORS I am working with anyway.
@@SusanHumeston Me too, but this is how I use up my scraps. I have actually made seven queen sized blankets this way, in my bed but not always in the dark haha. It's a way to relax for an hour before sleep. I have a waiting list of people who want the boho blankets.
My quirky thing is binge watching crochet UA-cam videos any chance I can! I can’t wait to see the latest video and then I do searches and find new people to follow. UA-cam has become my primary tv watching experience!
A crochet vacation 🤗 would be perfect The next best for me would be having the rest of the family go on vacation leaving me home No distractions. Perfection
so do I. I have even let Herrschner's, Crochet Crowd, and Yarnspirations know the mistakes in stitch counts or missing rounds in a pattern. Unfortunately my input was not well received.
@@patbenson2345 too bad. One I found a weird decrease (instead of increse) in an amigurumi pattern and the seller thanks me for finding itn and telling him.
Especially Yarnspirations their patterns are terrible. They should have people test the pattern before releasing it. Crocheting is supposed to be relaxing not frustrating ❤
I am so guilty of taking projects in the car and on vacation and not working on them. I have done this so many times now and I have come to the conclusion that bringing a crochet project with me is like having a security blanket. I feel better just knowing it is there, even if I never work on it. I have some crochet hooks with handmade wooden handles and I just love how they feel in my hand and for some odd reason, I hate to be parted from them. I know this is weird, but it's how I roll. LOL!!!
Nope not weird at all!! It’s like the saying “bringing everything, but the kitchen sink” on trips. I take a couple of bags, filled with crochet projects, color pencils, 2 or 3 coloring books, IPad and extra yarn to go babysit. Do I use any of those items? Rarely!!!😂 Too busy playing with grandkids 😂 but I do crochet when they are engrossed in TV or tablets or in bed.😂
@@sweethaven5 Oh good. I am so glad to know I am not alone in my obsession. LOL!!! We drive from So Cal to AZ a lot to visit our daughters that live there and I will read, sleep, listen to the radio, watch a DVD, all with my project bag either on my lap or tucked in between my feet on the floor. If I do pull my crocheting out, I only work on it for a few minutes then back in the bag it goes. Very strange. Maybe I should take less fiddely projects with me as I do hate getting out scissors and needles and so forth in the car. Will have to think on that before our next vacation.
I vacation alone, generally camping, and always take projects with me. I even plan my vacations around visits to yarn/quilting/craft stores and always work new acquisitions into my holiday budget. I dream up ideas while driving there and devise a shopping list. And I STILL never finish one thing, and often don't even start. *sigh*
Elise did you read my diary?? The “wearing crochet in public one” and “scouting for crochet in the wild” hit me the most. I live in South Korea and crochet bags are really popular nowadays. It’s considered rude to speak to strangers here, but i definitely admire the bags from afar 👀
For some reason, I'm not a movie person, so when I started crocheting and then knitting I was relieved, because I'd have something to do to keep me from getting restless during the movie. So, the test you have to pass, as the filmmaker, is did you make a movie that's so good it makes me set down my project just to watch? That's a good show! 🤩
Lol I just flipped my house upside down trying to find my 5mm clover hook. Even though I know I have 3 other cheaper 5mm hooks right beside me. I eventually remembered I put it in my hoodie pocket earlier today before I changed out of it 😅 it’s ok all is good in the world again, I have my hook 🥰🤣
Mone is a 4.5mm hook. She is my favorite and will adjust a pattern if I can get away with using it. Pattern calls for a 4mm , or a 5mm? It's going to be done in my 4.5mm.
I can't help but ask the recipient of my crocheted gift: How's that blanket doing? Are you wearing that poncho I made for you? I don't mind if people register my work, but I have to know to whom and if they appreciate the value of it. I also put on the TV to something that just becomes background noise. If I pay attention, I inevitably have to frog a row or two, or "fudge it". And then there's thrift store yarn which is often vintage and not so soft. So I grudgingly make bags to give away. Quality doesn't come cheap! Loved this episode, Elise Rose! ❤
I’m telling you, I came up with the idea for interchangeable glasses frames when I was ten or eleven years old, and some savvy business person must have heard me say it.
@@ManateeTail123 in the 70ts while out shopping with my friend i picked a packet of oxo cubes, i said to my friend why can't they make soap powder like these instead of having to lug big boxes of the stuff around with other shopping plus kids and pushchairs/prams
These eye glasses are popular here in Germany. They are great. No need for glasses and sunglasses. They are quite a bit more here though. I paid right around $600 for mine.
I"m guilty of almost all of these (especially 'one more row syndrome), but I don't think crochet is superior, but part of the reasons I crochet and not knit is because of the knitting snobs (I'm looking at you LYS) who think they're better. Also, I was recently traveling and in 4 airports, and let me tell you, if you're fishing for crochet compliments/conversations, the Atlanta airport wins by a country mile. So many fun conversations in that airport. Also, I just shared your 'stop scrolling and crochet' video with my students at a major CA university. So I'm not only a Crochet Evangelist, but Elise is enabling me.
I scored 18 out of 28 on this list. I do have a couple of quirks. One you kind of mentioned I have a fear of running out of yarn and always buy to much for a project and end up with lots of single skeins. The second one is I like to show off my crochet skills and when I go out I purposely choose a WIP that will impress others or be noticed (e.g. a particular difficult stitch pattern, Lost in Time shawl). Thanks so much for gifting us with your channel, honesty, personal time, and advice, while not a person who does amigurumi. I do so love your channel and video.
Me too. I so relate to most of those things. I google crochet cruises or retreats all the time. I buy yarn for different projects, buy multiple patterns and love crochet hook sets I have to really stop myself now I want to buy the dots crochet hooks. I also stay up late crocheting. I find patterns and buy the yarn and think I will start the project soon. I have packages of yarn in my office.
@@PaigePatten-mf2jsI broke down and bought the dots crochet hooks. I love them, they are so nice and easy to crochet with. I have definitely found my new favorite hooks.
Tip for getting car sick when crocheting in the car: I get car sick really easy too, but when I was on a road trip from Texas to Colorado my mom gave me a motion sickness pill 30 mins before we were on the road and it helped tremendously while I was crocheting in the motorhome. I was also IN THE BACK!
I always had to sit up front with the air con on. Also have some Sprite or 7up handy. Crackers help too. Also listen to soothing music through your headphones is a trick I use. Helps calm you down and divert your attention.
I have all of my mom’s crochet hooks, grandma’s crochet hooks & even some of my great grandma’s crochet hooks… & I have still purchased so many & have more on my radar. It’s a thing. I absolutely do take crochet vacations. My personal favorite is camping. My hubby will take our camper to the lake camp ground, get her all set up for me & I will crochet to my hearts content, for days. It’s a huge bonus to get a good rain, while I’m crochet camping…. 🥰
I've done all sorts of arts/crafts since I can remember. And I have done and still do all and any of these weird things with all of them. I'm 67. Lately, I've decided to stop fighting myself and just enjoy the ride. I'm glad to see I'm not alone and that I'm genuinely human! As for your retreat, I had a friend who belonged to a knitters group. They went to Ireland and did exactly as you describe. I do polymer clay sculpture and she commissioned a lamb from me and gave me free rein on it. Her favorite color was lavender. So I made her a little lamb walking jauntily on a winter's day wearing her newly knitted tweed jacket and carrying a basket of yarns and needles on her way home from the yarn shop. I named it "Happy Day!"
I definitely get attached to crochet projects! For me, it's not just what I put into them, but they're also like a memory diary, like 'Oh yeah! This happened while I was making this one; so-and-so came to visit when I was making that one; it was a particularly beautiful summer's day when I did that bit'. I love reminiscing when I pick up a blanket or amigurumi toy! 🥰 x
Holy Cats! Recognized all, either in myself or my bestie! So many apply also to my other addictions (spinning, sewing, beading, counted cross..........you get the idea!). Have a fabulous today, Steph😁
I have those other “addictions” as well. I have a beed subscription that will keep me busy forevermore once I retire, more yarn and patterns for a lifetime and spinning wheels I need to use!
I constantly find myself wondering how you know me so well lol. I was actually a 26 out of 28 myself and only other crocheters can actually relate. I am a big fan and love every one of your videos, they always make me smile. You are great.
I give away most my projects, I work with kids, even donating 2 to 4 hours a month, to teach the kids how to crochet and knit, those who cannot afford after school activities, 19 years so far, and I sell some pieces online, with 100% of the money donated to cat rescue or families with pets who can't afford buying food or vet bills. I got 4 other fribds to join. It's a win-win, enjoy my kitting/ crocheting projects, and see the end to ensure that others who don't crochet, can enjoy it too. I used to crocheting rag rugs, an absolutely incredible hobby, I sold every single rug and puff seats, with money donated to kids in need. It's beyond joyful the pleasure you receive when others enjoy the hobby you enjoy, too.
If you don’t mind, where/how are you selling online? I‘d like to try that but don’t know how to start. I don’t want to make a business, just to sell some pieces here and there…
You are reading my mind! Everything you said (except two) are things I think and do. You are the kind of person I'd love to go shopping with or have afternoon tea with, while crocheting of course, so we should add an afternoon high tea to our dream vacation. Hopefully our hands won’t get sticky from the clotted cream and jam.
"In the zone!" this is the whole reason I crochet now in my later years, to be distracted from some very real, painful physical restrictions. To help make pain meds work better/longer, I took up knitting/crochet to give my hands something to to while my mind was absorbed in the intricacy of working out a pattern. So, yes I did forget to eat too! But I found hours would have gone by, and still I hadn't reach for the pain relievers! Paired up with binge watching an exciting series - wow!
Your comment touches my heart and is making me tear up. Good for you; I love your attitude. ❤You are making lemonade with those lemons! My dear Mom in law took up crafting and painting as a way to deal with Parkinson's. She would say much the same things. When the pain and shakiness would get bad, she would retreat to her craft room, and it would help her so much to focus on a project. She's in Heaven now, and we all miss her, but she left a wonderful legacy.❤
I'm currently watching this video with heat packs on my hips and foot. Crocheting and watching to distract myself from pain. Works most of the time! Lots of love and distraction to you 🤗
Hello Lovely one😊, I scored 15 but I have only re-taken up crochet for not quite 2yrs. Given time I say my score will definitely raise😂. Great video as usual Elise💗. I must say your new glasses look great and I love pair eyewear !!! I found them a few months ago and I am definately getting a pair with several different fronts but I need to wait a little bit as I am waiting for a severe posterior vitreous detachment to heal more before my Optometrist can do my new eye test. The joys of being over 50😅. Love and prayers💗💗💗🙏🙏🙏and yarn🧶🧶🧶.
I only got three? What I noticed was that I actually did the exact opposite of a lot of the list. I do: - Crochet past bedtime - Crochet in weird places - Underestimate yarn I don't: - Hord hooks (I started knitting before I started Crocheting, and one of the things I love about Crochet is that you don't need to worry about having a million different hooks like you do with needles (circular, straight, double pointed, different lengths...). I bought myself a set of clover amour hooks and that's it) - keep my projects (I almost never keep my projects, I love giving things away. In fact, the few WIPs I have abandoned are things I was making for myself.) - too many wips (I usually have a couple projects going at once, one smaller one for travel and a larger one for home. I almost always finish what I started.) - buy random yarn (pretty much all yarn I buy is for a specific project. I don't really have a stash) - get distracted from movies (I almost always have a movie or audiobook or something going when I craft) - buying too many patterns/not following patterns i buy (I rarely buy patterns. I know I will just use them as a guideline, so I usually just find something basic and free and use that as inspiration. The only times I follow patterns are for amigarumi, which I rarely make) There were actually way more things I don't do, those were just what I could remember off the top of my head.
Turkey is the yarn capital of the world and very touristy. I would love a yarn vaca there and I would wear the same clothes every single day so that my suitcases would fit all the cool yarn I would bring home. I’m guilty of complaining to my husband that his television shows aren’t crochet friendly because they don’t have enough dialogue to keep me involved while I’m crocheting. 😂 I’m a crochet promoter and have taught a dozen or more people how. ❤️🔥
I am guilty of quite a few of these! One of my quirky habits is to keep an inventory of my favourite yarn in each colour, I make up a spreadsheet, laminate it, then use a dry erase market to keep track of my quantity of each colour. Then when I want to buy more I go to my inventory to see what I need! It’s ridiculous 😅
I've only been crocheting for a month but I got 7 😅 the hiding yarn from husband one is definitely accurate but mine is also supportive of my new craft so it works 😂
I got 18 😬 I make baby blankets for family and friends, but you can probably tell how much I love you by how easy our difficult the design is. Also, I often fib when someone asks me to make them something. I'll either exaggerate the cost or tell them I don't have the time right now.
Lmao I'm legit watching this while crocheting past my bedtime 😅 wasn't expecting to be called out in the first minute like that lol but I love the video!! 💕
At about the 9:00 minute mark, you said that you put your heart and soul into your projects. I heard a while back that native Americans (used to) believe that yarn work projects that have been completed have a piece of your soul in them, so they purposefully make mistakes to allow for holes for you soul piece to escape and return to you. I will never have to worry about that problem. Lol
"My fancy yarn stash that I'm scared to use" had me rolling. I have so much beautiful yarn but keep using reasonably priced yarn because I'm not afraid of messing it up. I definitely need to get over that one 😊!
I really like to gift my toys and accessories to people who really like them. I’ve given things to people who just don’t know how much goes into the gift. I think it’s okay to keep the toys you love. 💕 thanks for the fun video, have a great weekend 😊
I'm probably the odd one out... the only time that I take to crochet is when my husband and I pray together, which we do every day. We have a series of prayers that we do together and while my husband holds the rosary beads, I crochet. Love it! I've made afghans, scarves, flower bookmarks, handbags, doll shoes, baby blankets, ponchos, and I don't remember what else for family members and those at our church. My ongoing project has been making little squares, using the Walmart cotton yarn. They are for our newly baptized members, to dry their head/hair for when the water is poured on their head. I love your videos Elise. Informative and funny. Thank you!
I have 5 crochet project going on and im literally about to start another one lol i love having a loads to switch between although most don't get finished lol
I haven’t had the issue of having lots of Wips. I don’t know it was a thing until I started watching people on UA-cam. It might relate to my other habits. I don’t like reading multiple books a the time or watching too many shows at the same time. Even gaming I like playing 1 or 2 at the time. I hope my crochet habits stay the same lol
Yarn chicken gives me such anxiety... i will over purchase yarn for things with the option of returning the rest for other yarn for another project (i never do, but it's an option)
My mailman was kind to me today when he personally knocked on my door today to give me the box from Twice Sheared Sheep...Thank you so much Elise Rose!!! It's gorgeous 😍
I developed a new attitude towards frogging I wanted to share: I realized that once I’ve ripped back to the mistake, I’m just crocheting again, just the same as I would be doing had I not frogged. It’s just more crocheting, so just do it! Frog away and stop questioning yourself!😊 And maybe check more frequently so you don’t have to frog as much!
I've questioned how far is too far to go back, but once I know it's there, I can't let it go. It will eventually mess up my project and being a Virgo...I can never unsee it!
I tend to hold the project up to my husband. If he can't see the mistake, I find a way to fudge the next row to hide it more and/or keep the stitch count. If it's too obvious, I frog.
@@sarasunshine883i do that aswell the question is WHY,he never notices anything,or hes on the i pad and tells me its fine and beautiful without lifting his head????😮
@@lesleymckee622 lol. My husband takes the assignment seriously and gives it a good look. He's very observant. Maybe take a pic of your project and send it to someone you know who can give it a good, honest look for you?
I am not ashamed to say that I yesterday bought more yarn and kind of sneaked it into the house. If he had asked, I would have told him, and he is very supportive. It's that I put myself on a yarn diet, and well I wasn't supposed to be buying any more yarn right now. My score was 22.

Fudging a mistake = depends on how visible it is 28. Crochet Retreats = YES PLEASE!!!!
Made it to 20, and I couldn't be more proud of myself 💪 -I've tried my darndest, but I simply cannot follow a pattern to the letter. I always reach a point where I'm like "Yes, I got it from here". -I can't count how many times I've forgotten to eat because I was crocheting. I usually plan to get a sandwich after this row, but that row never ends... -I've never snuck yarn in the house, but I have felt sheepish when Hubs asks "what project is this for?" and I don't have an answer 😅
Hi Elise. It's comforting to know that many of these crochet quirks of mine came up today on your list. I am guilty of at least 22 of them. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
I put a small project next to my bed for those nights I can’t get to sleep. Now I work on it every night and have 2 more projects lined up next to it. Plus my main project in the living room, one in the car and one in the basement laundry room.
The travel one!! I have kids but my yarn bag is always bigger than the baby’s diaper bag! It annoys my family. But even if I know I might not have any time to crochet, I still tag it all along.
My number was 15. I’ve been crocheting amigurumi almost 3 yrs. I admit, I found after doing so many amigurumi projects that I was taking a pattern and another pattern then putting them together. I’ve been trying to do patterns completely from pattern but I’ve noticed that truly there’s a mistake or I just don’t like their technique. I still end up pretty close to pattern. I have decided next year and try my first pattern design. I’m finding I can’t find the pattern to do what I want so. It should be fun. I first need finish deadline projects. One other thing I need to crochet constantly so I always have a project with me. What’s fun I find it’s a conversation starter. Thanks for your videos. Sending prayers love and hugs.
I would love a retreat and workshop like that! For crochet and weaving and/or sewing. Don’t forget the big fireplace that we can sit next to while working on our projects. 😉
I'm guilty of many of these, but my stash is no secret in our house. We both work from home and he's usually the first one to the door with yarn parcels arrive. I often 'get away' with buying more yarn because..."Honey, every ball/skein/cake/donut/hank is a potential garment, and you know I'm not a clothes shopper..." BTW, Ireland is a wonderful crochetcation! Sheep? We got them. Yarn stores? We got them. Hand dyers? A few, but yeah. Scenic spots for crochet sessions and photos? Absolutely! Pubs too
Yes, yes, yes to a crochet vacation - bit lonely in this 'addiction' where I currently find myself, so I really enjoy watching you and others on UA-cam. I'm guilty of many of the quirky habits you mentioned - especially buying new patterns. I just want to start all of them at the same time.
I can relate to most of your points and I've been crocheting less than a year! In fact, I'm crocheting as I listen to you, and you know the one about seeing a mistake but not frogging it and you keep going? Well, here I am on a return row and see a pretty obvious mistake a row back, so I overcame my natural instinct to ignore it (who's going to notice it in the overall project???) and I actually frogged back to the mistake. I did cut the yarn at the end of the row so I'm hoping my new, mistake-less row will have enough yarn. :) Love the thought you put into this. AND, it's nice to know we're not alone in our little weirdnesses.
I loved this video! Elise, you hit all points on the head! I also knit and crochet but I do enjoy crocheting more than knitting because the progress is so much faster. I do like the fabric of knitting better for garments and socks but still, crochet is close to my heart.
Love the video! I definitely take projects with me on vacation and never touch them lol. I usually go back and frog mistakes, except for the only baby blanket I ever made. Realized 3/4 of the way through I'd switched out my 5mm for a 4.5mm hook at some point and switched back. That blanket has a slight dip in the middle on both sides, but even I draw the line at frogging months of work!
I love both crocheting and knitting, too. No contest between the two. And while I'm not a "serial starter" with crochet projects, what I do is have maybe a crochet project and a knitting project going on at the same time. This benefits my hands to some degree because I'm switching up what I'm doing. Also keeps me more engaged because they are both fun in different ways. And I do buy yarn without a project in mind, and often don't know if I'll knit it or crochet it, sometimes I just wait and let the yarn tell me what it wants to be.
Most all of them!!👍🏼. I want to go on that vacation…we could seriously have a crochet convention in a cold spot with open fires, s’more breaks, cocoa drinks, staying up as long as we want too!!! Have yarn companies come to the conventions…the latest things in yarn crafts!!!!! Fun fun fun
Elise! I think we could be soul sisters! I was laughing out loud at almost every single one of these! My number was 26 too! When are we taking a "crochet vacation"? Thank you for sharing all of these. It makes me feel like I'm not alone lol.
I love all of your lists and countdowns -- they are always specific and pertinent to our crafts! I often enjoy watching them more than once. As for today's list, I only scored a 13. That surprised me a bit, but it doesn't discount my crochet passion 😘🧶Thanks so much for this -- FUN!!
I got 26. I sometimes visit my friend and crochet mentor who lives a few hours away just so we can crochet together and catch up. She's blind so she loves when I come because that means she can go to the store and restock her yarn for projects. I also noticed that we have certain number sets we like to count our stitches by. I count mine in multiples of 3.
OMG! I just came back from a mini vacation and I brought a project to do while sitting in the car! I also worked on it while sitting out on the deck/ patio while listening to birds in a quiet peaceful location! No tv! But I was making a little granny square chicken so I could give it to my sister-in-law who was with me on this trip! I finished it and she was thrilled! By-the-way, you were the person who turned me on to the crocheter who designed it!😁❤️
I have been crocheting for about 2 years & after watching this ive discovered im not strange after all.I could certainly relate to so much you said. My mom was a hook addict. I have my favorite that ive used so much I've worn a spot of color off it.
When I’ve finished a little character that has a sweet face on it, I take a moment and give it a big genuine loving cuddle before pricing it while at the same time telling the critter, fruit, veggie or plant character that it is going to make a friend at the shop and I just know if it makes someone smile, they will find their forever home with that person ❤
I’m guilty of most but the one that really gets me, and I thought I was alone in this one and probably nuts about, is getting too emotionally attached to my projects to sell them. I have made several items and gifted them to family, and a few of those I will not make anything for again, but yes I thought I was NUTS in feeling that way about what I make. So glad to know I’m not the only “NUT” out there. Thanks Elise. 😊
I didn’t keep him, but it was fun to agree with so many the things we crochets often do. Truthfully, there were only three or four things that I don’t do. Thanks for your fun videos.❤
Yes, ❤ on the crochet vacation 🙌 I definitely have done a majority of the things you mentioned. The one thing that bothers me is I will start a project and get bored. So I'll start a new project and pretty soon. We'll too many projects and I'll feel overwhelmed. 😅 So I started to just frog projects if they are small or decided to keep it as a swatch to see the stitching later.
I love all your videos, they are so much fun🥰 I’m guilty of almost all of them😄 Thank you, it’s nice to know we’re not alone. Can’t wait for your next video🥰 Have a wonderful day❤️
I'm guilty of 10. Definitely stay up past bedtime ... I get so into the project, I don't pay attention to the time...& then I'll notice it's midnight..." I just need to finish this row...."
Welll, I don't crochet one lick but I'm an artist of paint and pen but I still subscribed to your channel because you ARE an artist in your own right!!! I think you're amazing and adorable too!!! Love your channel. Greetings from Massachusetts! ❤️🥰❣️
OMG! I scored 27! I have to say, I was at the grocery store the other day and saw a lady with a beautiful crocheted collar. I have no shame and went straight up to her, complimented her on it and asked her if she made it. I love seeing people with crocheted items.
Never had to hide my yarn purchases.
Quite the opposite.
If I am out with hubby doing errands, he will ask if we need to stop at the craft store. Always, yes. Then I will find HIM in the yarn section before I even get there, and he is picking out yarn!
"Feel how soft this one is,"
"Do you have this shade?"
"Do you need to replenish any colors?"
"You should just get all three, why pick?"
I love my hubby.
Awww! How precious! 🧶🧶🧶
Sweet to know that other people have supportive hubbies! 💜
Sounds like my hubby. We are very lucky. Xx
LOL GOOD JOB
😊
😂
You are so naughty!
😆
No my husband binge watches tv shows, apparently so I can finish what I’m doing. Here is the scenario. Me “ok I’m done, we can go to bed it’s getting late” My husband “ I don’t mind watching another episode if you want to keep crocheting” 😏😏😏
Lol!!! I love that!! 🤣🧶❤️🐑
Oh he's a keeper!

Sounds heavenly!
@@dragonmaster5983 ❤❤
That sounds so wonderful!!
When can I come over to visit you with my cat Aurora and my yarnstash?😂❤
I want to come crochet in your garden ❤
I can add one I bet we’ve all done, and that’s “crochet until it hurts.” And the “it” can be so many things or combination thereof. Eyes, back, wrists, hands, where you stab your fingertip with the hook, elbows… I REALLY try not to, and remind myself it’s supposed to be fun… but in a combination with the “just one more row/round” mentality, I can really make myself sore.
I do this!!
One time I cut myself on a tiny crochet hook. That was fun! (sarcasm)
The cabin idea sounds bliss. Its got to have a stoop though. 😊
I think that's lovely. I have my crochet bag with hooks, books and wool on my bed next to me.
What a great idea!
Great idea!!!
My quirky thing is binge watching crochet UA-cam videos any chance I can! I can’t wait to see the latest video and then I do searches and find new people to follow. UA-cam has become my primary tv watching experience!
Yes. Bag making, crochet, and quilting. Guilty
Macrame, calligraphy, sketching, watercolor art, jewelry making/beading, slow stitching, beachcombing/rock hounding/sea glass polishing and jewelry making... I've gone down a few rabbit holes.😊 @zormier2002
Same, sometimes I just look up different stitches and practice them if I don’t want to commit to working on a project.
❤😊
I'm doing that now.😊
Maybe I do have a problem. Does anybody want to form a self-help group? (bring your yarn!) 😂
Haha!!! It would be a self-help group but I'm afraid it would probably turn into an "enabling" group! 🤣🤣🤣
Girl, I’m there! 🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochetI'm in!
We would be the blind leading the blind 😂
Alright, bring it in!!
I honestly love it when my husband plans family outings without me, so I can be alone, wind down and crochet without the kids. ❤ It is so great!
A crochet vacation 🤗 would be perfect
The next best for me would be having the rest of the family go on vacation leaving me home
No distractions.
Perfection
I hide yarn from my kids cause they say I have a problem but the yarn makes me happy!
I like finding mistakes in written patterns and correcting them myself.
so do I. I have even let Herrschner's, Crochet Crowd, and Yarnspirations know the mistakes in stitch counts or missing rounds in a pattern. Unfortunately my input was not well received.
I love people who do that! The patterns writers should be appreciative.@patbenson2345
@@patbenson2345 too bad. One I found a weird decrease (instead of increse) in an amigurumi pattern and the seller thanks me for finding itn and telling him.
@patbenson2345 that is so sad! A mistake in a pattern could happen so easy so if a experienced crocheter correct it, everyone benefits from that
Especially Yarnspirations their patterns are terrible.
😂
I like to crochet amigurumi, and as soon as I'm done I chuck it at my kiddos. I love seeing them playing with something I've made.
Haha!! Now that's fun!! 🤣❤️🧶🐑
That’s awesome! 💜
@@brittanyscutecrochets right there with ya! I have tons of hooks but only 1 favorite
Mone is a 4.5mm hook. She is my favorite and will adjust a pattern if I can get away with using it.
Pattern calls for a 4mm , or a 5mm?
It's going to be done in my 4.5mm.
Counted my hooks the other week. Over 90. I have a problem.
@@mythicalmermaid5757 haha same 🤣🙈 I’m going to Joan’s tomorrow and planning what hook size I may need to pick up
@mythicalmermaid5757 yeah, not having 99 of them. So you can sing
"I've got 99 problems and a hook ain't one"
I can't help but ask the recipient of my crocheted gift: How's that blanket doing? Are you wearing that poncho I made for you?
I don't mind if people register my work, but I have to know to whom and if they appreciate the value of it.
I also put on the TV to something that just becomes background noise. If I pay attention, I inevitably have to frog a row or two, or "fudge it".
And then there's thrift store yarn which is often vintage and not so soft. So I grudgingly make bags to give away. Quality doesn't come cheap!
Loved this episode, Elise Rose! ❤
I. Feel. Attacked! 😂
Lol!!! All in good fun!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@EliseRoseCrochet it’s all true. Lol
Me too 😂 I'm unashamedly guilty of all of them 😂😂😂

I’m telling you, I came up with the idea for interchangeable glasses frames when I was ten or eleven years old, and some savvy business person must have heard me say it.
😂
That was me with CDs in the '70s.
This is so funny! Choosing an impressive WIP to take out and about! Lol!!!
I have been accused of, tried, convicted and now I’m doing time guilty of almost all of these.
Will you at least get paroled early for good behavior??? 🤣🧶❤️🐑
@@EliseRoseCrochet what is this good behavior you speak of? 🤣😂
Oh hell, I lost count! but the dream trip would have to be Ireland.
Haha!!! Wouldn't that be amazing??? 🇮🇪
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's amazing how much overlap there is across different crafts! 😊🧶
I have those other “addictions” as well. I have a beed subscription that will keep me busy forevermore once I retire, more yarn and patterns for a lifetime and spinning wheels I need to use!
Yes, I crochet in weird places all the time. The bar, the library, in a parking lot while waiting
I always crochet at the library. We have a crochet group
That would be an amazing day! 🧶❤️🐑🫖☕️
😂
It works! I do the same thing...any distraction boosts the effectiveness of the drugs! Combined distractions are even better!
I'm currently watching this video with heat packs on my hips and foot. Crocheting and watching to distract myself from pain. Works most of the time! Lots of love and distraction to you 🤗
I have found that true too... I also have physical problems and working with my hands always distracts me from the worse of the pain.
Oh the hidden yarn. Oh the late night yarning. Oh the many WIPs! Guilty as charged!❤
I only got three? What I noticed was that I actually did the exact opposite of a lot of the list.
I do:
- Crochet past bedtime
- Crochet in weird places
- Underestimate yarn
I don't:
- Hord hooks (I started knitting before I started Crocheting, and one of the things I love about Crochet is that you don't need to worry about having a million different hooks like you do with needles (circular, straight, double pointed, different lengths...). I bought myself a set of clover amour hooks and that's it)
- keep my projects (I almost never keep my projects, I love giving things away. In fact, the few WIPs I have abandoned are things I was making for myself.)
- too many wips (I usually have a couple projects going at once, one smaller one for travel and a larger one for home. I almost always finish what I started.)
- buy random yarn (pretty much all yarn I buy is for a specific project. I don't really have a stash)
- get distracted from movies (I almost always have a movie or audiobook or something going when I craft)
- buying too many patterns/not following patterns i buy (I rarely buy patterns. I know I will just use them as a guideline, so I usually just find something basic and free and use that as inspiration. The only times I follow patterns are for amigarumi, which I rarely make)
There were actually way more things I don't do, those were just what I could remember off the top of my head.
I’m a crochet promoter and have taught a dozen or more people how. ❤️🔥
I crochet my own hand bag, and I take it every where I go. Instant conversation! I am also getting do you teach, why yes I do.
Not ridiculous at all! I love the creativity!
I've only been crocheting for a month but I got 7 😅 the hiding yarn from husband one is definitely accurate but mine is also supportive of my new craft so it works 😂
Seven already?! You're a natural! 😂🎃🧡🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet I also can't crochet in the car which breaks my heart. Thank you for your videos! I've learned so much between you and Toni! ❤

I make baby blankets for family and friends, but you can probably tell how much I love you by how easy our difficult the design is.
Also, I often fib when someone asks me to make them something. I'll either exaggerate the cost or tell them I don't have the time right now.
Can't say NOPE to any of these things... LOVE THIS!!!!

Lmao I'm legit watching this while crocheting past my bedtime 😅 wasn't expecting to be called out in the first minute like that lol but I love the video!! 💕
Sooooo many patterns to make 😂 Guilty of most all of these - definitely feeling called out 🤣 thanks for such a hilarious video to start my day!
Lol
I love that!! Thanks for sharing! ❤️❤️❤️
Preach it sister!!! 😂 Spot on!!!
Haha!! 🤣
"My fancy yarn stash that I'm scared to use" had me rolling. I have so much beautiful yarn but keep using reasonably priced yarn because I'm not afraid of messing it up. I definitely need to get over that one 😊!

I’m currently making the little witch ghost from my crochet wonders and hope I can finish it by next week 😳🎃🍁👻
Thank you!

I don’t like reading multiple books a the time or watching too many shows at the same time. Even gaming I like playing 1 or 2 at the time. I hope my crochet habits stay the same lol
Oh I am totally the opposite of that
Yarn chicken gives me such anxiety... i will over purchase yarn for things with the option of returning the rest for other yarn for another project (i never do, but it's an option)
Yarn chicken is the WORST! 🧶🤣🐓

-I've tried my darndest, but I simply cannot follow a pattern to the letter. I always reach a point where I'm like "Yes, I got it from here".
-I can't count how many times I've forgotten to eat because I was crocheting. I usually plan to get a sandwich after this row, but that row never ends...
-I've never snuck yarn in the house, but I have felt sheepish when Hubs asks "what project is this for?" and I don't have an answer
😅
Haha!!! Thanks so much for sharing, Toni! I can see why you're such a good designer, you don't need a pattern! 🤣
Get out of my head!!! Lol. I'm guilty of all of these 😂
well done @marcishope5345 a top score!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Elise. It's comforting to know that many of these crochet quirks of mine came up today on your list. I am guilty of at least 22 of them. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
I love your videos!😊
Thank you! 😊❤️🧶🐑
A relief band changed my life. I can crochet, knit and even read in any moving vehicle now.
I have tons of hooks and yarn
I love crochet hook sets but use it once or not at all 😅 but it was cute
I don't know what it is about crochet hooks that is so irresistible! 🤣🧶❤️🐑
Absolutely, your idea of a dream crochet/knit vacation resonates with me completely! 🥰
all of the things you Sayed in the beginning are all so true for me lol! love your videos!❤
I'm so happy you enjoyed it! 🧶❤️🐑
I put a small project next to my bed for those nights I can’t get to sleep. Now I work on it every night and have 2 more projects lined up next to it. Plus my main project in the living room, one in the car and one in the basement laundry room.
heyyyyy im sooooo early
Thank you!! 🧶🧶🧶
16:07 If in the environment it's socially acceptable to be on my phone , it should be socially acceptable for me to crochet😅
Please make a video with the motion sickness glasses! Putting them to the test and reviewing them, that would be such a fun video :)
YES! I tend to use multiples of 4 lol
By-the-way, you were the person who turned me on to the crocheter who designed it!😁❤️
Creative fixes, browsing Shein and Temu thinking "I can crochet that", saving the "good yarn" till I'm "good enough"...
I love all your videos, they are so much fun🥰
I’m guilty of almost all of them😄 Thank you, it’s nice to know we’re not alone. Can’t wait for your next video🥰 Have a wonderful day❤️
i would have thought your furls hook was your favorite I love the wooden knitting needles by clover
I'm guilty of 10. Definitely stay up past bedtime ... I get so into the project, I don't pay attention to the time...& then I'll notice it's midnight..." I just need to finish this row...."
Every stitch has a piece of my heart ❤!
Love your channel
18! And sign me up for that vacation! Lawdy! That sounds like heaven! 😂
