Thanks Vickie, it was a good day! The turkey turned out great, along with the sides. Hope the same for you. Have a good evening and I’ll see you on the next one.
Premium high rises and condominiums - very upscale community! Cedar looks amazing. Picnic table build would be cool - and I know forestry jobs are a pain to film but I like them as well.
Happy Turkey Day Brian and family. Those should work very well. Same as what was built on our local wetlands by Ducks Unlimited volunteers and they get residents every year. And yes, your OCD is showing. Those openings in the front are suppose to simulate a knot rotting out of a broken limb on a trunk of a tree. I use to photograph a natural nest in a sycamore tree years ago and stake out to try and catch the babies first flight as they basically drop to the ground or water. I can assure you that the natural openings are uneven and irregular in size and shape but DU pretty much have that size averaged out. These are actually better than nature because in a tree that is back a bit from the water, the babies might not make it and end up landing on the ground but of course their flapping breaks the fall and they are fine. At least with these they will for sure land in the water on their first flight. Also from trees they are often ten feet up or higher and they really flap hard to soften the landing. Wood ducks are really beautiful color combo for the males.
@@markpashia7067 haha thanks Mark. The wood ducks showed up today coincidentally, I couldn’t believe it. Have to get the boxes out asap. Let’s hope they hang around.
Mass production is the name of the game on protects like this when you making many of the same.. Cut all similar parts, drill all holes, do all assembly, etc in a production line.... Will save tons of time.. Just sayin... Carry on! 😉
I'm glad you didn't tear up your circular saw when it fell on the ground. Those boxes look great. How do you keep snakes from crawling up into the boxes? Thought you might put some type of guard on the post to keep snakes from reaching the box.
@@johnhenryNC the tip of the saw plate bent a fair amount actually, I had to fix that off camera. Aluminum sheeting will be used to create a circular critter guard. We’ll build that too
@@BrushCommando I thought the saw hit the ground pretty hard. Here in the foothills of NC, we have issues with black snakes getting in bird houses. One time on the farm, there was a bird house pretty much destroyed on the ground, and I asked my dad what happened; he said when he went to check on his nest, a BIG black snake was in there and he pretty much had to destroy the bird house to get the snake out. Let's just say the snake & bird house was destroyed.
@@DosMasTequila thanks, I built the garage by myself, inside and out, with the exception of the concrete and roofing. Can’t find any signs of the muskrats now that the water is rising so much
DUCKLINGS!! I had turkey on my mind! 🤦🏻♂️ 😁

Nice work! Wise choice using cedar, and you're right - the smell of cedar is wonderful!
Indeed, they look good Brian. I wouldn't mind seeing a picnic table build.
Thanks, we'll build one then.
Hope you & yours had a wonderful turkey day. Thanks for showing the duck box, Brian, that's pretty cool.

Nice, very good tips, some details were left to a creative mind. Thanks
Try using a clamp on the board when you're cutting the opening to the front board.
👍👍👍👍
Good job 👍 always feel bad for Americans when I see your tape measures 😂
Cool project.
Nice and simple.
Not needed , but perhaps add a chamfer to outer edges as you are already set to do it. or use the file.

@@johnhenryNC haha! We definitely don’t want any snakes in the boxes. Going to be extra careful when checking them, just in case.
Looks great,nice job!
Very nice man cave garage! Duck boxes look great. Have you trapped any muscat’s yet?
