Two things, you’re a genius. As always, absolutely amazing. Secondly, also here for the comments about the section of tree at the beginning on the left-hand side of the screen.
AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA AHhhahahhhahhahha HHHHHHAAhahahaHAHAhhahaHHAHhahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa...... DUDE YOU MADE ME GO BACK AND LOOK !!!!!!!! I thought you fell off your rocker there for a moment lol
Honestly Izzy...I don't know why you aren't on the DARPA team! What a SPLENDID MIND you have, sir...SO creative! Glad to see you up and around. PLEASE take care of that back!
As long as you escaped any damage to your house/shop/cars and all of you and your children are all then everything should be ok for you. The portable sawmill is really cool and definitely worth sharing. Thanks
Like the design. I made your other design and it works great, but this one being more portable is what I can use more. When you have plans available definitely let me know.
Once you finish optimizing this you really should look into having it manufactured out of aluminum, people are paying a lot of money for all kinds of sawmill contraptions these days that aren't half as good as this.
Absolutely stellar design sir! Heavy engineering low material cost, such a beautiful equation. I recently moved to a logging area where everyone around me seems to be a part of a logging operation of one sort of the other. Neighbors asked me to come help me saw up some rounds for the old man and the first thing they said to me was "always run your saw wide open son".
Every morning, while having my morning coffee I check my UA-cam, and when my Notification button lights up, and it is your video, i know my day is off to a great start, and I am NEVER disappointed. You are a great thinker. So sorry to see so much storm damage, but also grateful you are all safe. Without a doubt, You are the Very Best. Enjoy your day.
Can't wait to see the finished version with plans and templates available. Most people here just cut it into smaller lengths and throw it away. Just today I watched a dozer knock one down and smash it all up that I may try to see if I can salvage tomorrow. I love your other ones but the portable hand truck version you are working on looks like a winner to me. Some plans and a hardware list/Amazon links to products and I will certainly buy the plans
It looks great and so easy to move around. I can't wait to see an improved version. Compared to the plywood prices (€30/m2 for the cheap/Chinese stuff) we have to pay in Greece, $40 for a sheet is a steal.
Awesome to see how you took that crappy situation and turned it around into a chance to invent something awesome. I just had my CNC arrive, so this was great timing, to see how I can use it not just for making furniture, but for building and rapid prototyping. Unlocking a few new areas of the brain. Thanks for that! And glad you guys only had a tree come down on the car, and elsewhere on the property during the storm, and everyone is safe!
Definitely some heart pine in some of that. There's not much there, but i always love seeing heart pine in my logs at work and putting them to the side to bring home.
This is awesome! I thought of a small business model of going to peoples homes and taking their downed trees and cutting them down on their property and whether they wanted to keep the wood slabs and have a place for them OR they just wanted the majority of the tree gone... a price could be made for both options. I've mentioned this a few times to people that told me HOA and noise pollution would make a saw running all day be a problem....as well as storage for wood slabs. I don't have a truck, trailer, saw mill, or the financial backing to even start a thing like this..😅🤣😂 My dad and brother went in halvsies and bought a chainsaw sawmill for some tree that fell in dads backyard.. Then brother got cancer and that project got put on hold and the (at one point more valuable wood) ended up being discarded due to rotting from sitting on ground too long. 😢 I appreciate your God given abilities to use that brain and create some pretty cool stuff! Been following your channel quite a bit and in my head there is a bit of a woodworker in me as Jesus (my Lord and Savior) also worked with wood...some say that He died on the very cross He made...but that isn't in the Bible. Not the biggest thing...although sometimes I can see a parallel with letting the work consume you...but hey. He came back defeating sin and death...so was the power in the cross or the One that created it?😊 Anyways....I love this mobile saw mill thing! God's Only Son Permits Eternal Life! 😇🙏💪
So good to see you getting around!! keep up the great work! sad to see the damage from the hurricane... but things can be replaced and so glad that you guys are safe.
Amazing to watch you build wood frame of chainsaw mill, I think some one might looking for and needs this jig , I hope to the future you might make from metal it might long time use, I seen a lot people create chainsaw mill by their own + my self, thank you for share 💯%👍.
Izzy it's so amazing and inspiring to see you up and getting around, not even to mention running a sawmill!!!!! Love the great videos, thank you! Needs a tape measure attached to the side of the saw carrier :) Would make it easier to be precise with your board thicknesses
My endless pursuit to mill my own lumber. Where I live, it’s hard to find rough sawn lumber and surfaced are $$$. I can get trees from many services, but I don’t have room or equipment to haul around. A portable one I can take to the lumber itself is my quest. Hopefully you’ll make improvements on that one or if even buy one from you. My journey continues.
What I love about you Izzy. Once again making lemonade out of lemons. Thoughts and prayers to all affected by Helene, I can't imagine how rough it is right now for many in that region.
So cool. so well thought out! However, for this scale of production, I have a chainsaw mill, and it is just the fence for the bar. It is an original Alaskan, but these days there are rip-offs for pennies. Other than that I use boards, or pieces of ladders, and 2 piece of ply to level, and it works great. If one wants to mitigate noise and get some gearing the Will Malloff method is easy, and uses the tree as a cariage. For me, now 65, I still don't need a winch, just isn't worth the set-up time and cost. And your thing is still pretty large, and a lot of up and down time. But at this point there are other options like those battery winches, or one guy uses some deadfall to power his mill. The other advantage to the Maloff method is that you can mill unlimited lengths. If you have a 60 foot log, you can make a 60 foot cut. If you wanted to. The thing people may not get is that in a few hours you can create more wood than you can use in a decade in normal projects around the house. So I prefer to suck it up and just push through, I know I will get more wood than I can use, soon enough. Speaking of pushing, this guy has a cool foot drive: ua-cam.com/video/VAIs8VLFbls/v-deo.html&pp=ygUYcmVkd29vZCBjaGFpbnNhdyBtaWxsaW5n Will's book was long out of print with some versions online, but it seems to be back in print again
Great i love it. And yes I'm not wanting to lift any more myself. I'm older and back injured, so I have to find different ways to do things and ask for help. Bruises my manly ego sometimes, lol😂 But aways love your creativity in finding ways to do things. And glad you guys are safe after the storm. Still praying for those who lost so much more.
that's a pretty neat little mill. The only slight flaw I can see is the wooden gears will probably wear out pretty quickly. You could cnc up some plastic ones. You have probably done this ? Don't forget to sticker your slabs. Keep up the good work.
Great to see you up and active Izzy and I love the portable chainsaw design too. Hopefully you weren't too badly hit by Hurricane Helene but I know many were. Typical woodworker though Hurricane Helene may have devastated large areas of the SE US but you never let a log slip you by when there's lumber to be had even if it did take out a car as it came down.
Haven’t seen your videos in a while Izzy! I’ll be sure to check your channel more frequently. Also great to see you on your feet and looking more mobile and spry! Hope you’re well dude ❤
Glad that neither of you were hurt during the storm. Vary innovative portable saw mill. Also, where are you buying cabinet grade plywood for $40/sheet? Where I live it's more than $80/sheet.
First, so glad that you and Maggie are safe. Second, I'm constantly amazed at your genius level ingenuity. I've watched your videos for many years and am still in awe at each one of your projects. - Chris
I love when you build things like this. You are always inventing something to make the job easier or more efficient and it shows your skill cause you’re always trying to make inexpensive as well. PS. I noticed what you did there with the cutoff lol
Nice job! Glad to hear you guys came through ok yourselves and that your wife is so willing to help with the things that are difficult for you physically now. I was diagnosed with a degenerative disease in my spine when I was 20, 35 years ago, and I even after multiple surgeries find it difficult to ask for help when I really should even though I know my wife would be more than willing to jump in and do whatever I need her to do. Case in point was ripping 8 full sheets of 3/4” plywood today… had much more that I wanted to accomplish but didn’t ask for help and now I’m paying for it 🥺 Moral of the story… never be too proud to let someone else do something for us that used to be simple and/or effortless. Hope you refine this design, it’s the first thing I’ve seen anybody make that I instantly wanted to buy a plan for, I am curious if you gave any thought to driving the chainsaw vertically though to really take a lot of strain off the machine?
for most lesser mortals wthout your cnc for instance I think a row of blocks the same size as the joiners glued and screwed on the same line would be an easy substitute for the full length dados😊
40 dollars a sheet of plywood? That is way inexpensive, writing from California where a sheet of good plywood can cost as much as twice that much. Glad to see you’re back with another video.
like a daja view , the old izzy back, and still creative as ever, car can be replaced, house not so much , people not at all , mother nature seems too be kicking A** this year 🥸🤓,Canada
I saw glimpses of you using a walker at the Makita MakTrak reveal from other UA-camrs. Happy that you can walk now. Izzy also working smarter than harder lifting the plank of wood.
First of all, glad you both are safe. Understanding this is a prototype, I really like it's potential and would love to see it evolve and sold commercially at some point.
Thanks for your video. Your design is perfect. Maybe it is an idea to make some of the wood of the construction stiffer with epoxy and fiberglass on both sides.

Digital Plans For My Older Favorite Chainsaw Mill - bit.ly/chainmillplans
You are more of an engineer than a lot of engineers I know. . . including me. Excellent job!
I have to say - it's great to see you standing and moving around! Glad you are getting your mobility back.
Thank you so much its still a battle but I still have some good days.
Two things, you’re a genius. As always, absolutely amazing. Secondly, also here for the comments about the section of tree at the beginning on the left-hand side of the screen.
Hahahahaha what tree section? I have no idea what you're talking about. (walks away from the comment section laughing)
@@izzyswan Send that to Matt Cremona, he loves the crotch section.
@@izzyswan commenters always getting well hung up on something.
HAHAHAHAHA
AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA AHhhahahhhahhahha HHHHHHAAhahahaHAHAhhahaHHAHhahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa...... DUDE YOU MADE ME GO BACK AND LOOK !!!!!!!! I thought you fell off your rocker there for a moment lol
You're not in your chair! 🎉 I couldn't believe it when you lifted that log with the Grabbos. Congrats and glad your back is better!
It's still a work in progress, but feeling much better.
Honestly Izzy...I don't know why you aren't on the DARPA team! What a SPLENDID MIND you have, sir...SO creative! Glad to see you up and around. PLEASE take care of that back!
Because they create tech that will be used against us, this clearly is an invention to promote an independence the gov wouldn't want us to have.
Fantastic idea. This is the ultimate answer to when life hands you lemons...
This is one of my favorite things you have made.
Haven’t heard from you in a while but glad you are always thinking 🤔 and inventing 👍🏾.
Have been enjoying being retired from production. But, We are back now lots more videos coming. thank you for your comment

Love the simplicity of the sled, sorry about the property damage... Chin up. Keep on posting great content.
Thank you, we are getting back into the swing of things here.

Yet another brilliant design, touch of genius in there
Thank you
I love your builds, your brain works in a brilliant way
WOW!!!! Love seeing you upright and at it!! So glad for you Izzy!!
Glad to be back at it!
Very Impressed! When there's a problem, build the solution! Love it Brother!
Im so glad you guys were not hurt in the storms! You sound exhausted brother! My prayers are with you!
Thanks for your kind words and prayers! We are doing okay!
Man, you are Contraption Meister! 👏👏👏
Brother you're still the man, I like it.
Appreciate it!
@izzyswan LOL, 🤔send it me🤞😉
It looks great and so easy to move around. I can't wait to see an improved version.

Really happy with the direction this one is going. excited to make some improvements
Fancy. I'm building one of these mills currently, completely inspired by you. I really like the new trigger system. Thanks for all that you share.
Awesome! Let me know how it goes!

Another terrific build Izzy! That PCSM works great & I would be totally happy with it. Hope that all is well with you guys! 👍👍🌲🌲
I'm so glad to see him looking healthy again. For awhile, I thought we were going to lose you. Great work.
Thanks! He's doing great.
Looking good Izzy. Fun to see this all come together. Give my best to Maggie and the kids. 💙💕
Appreciate it, will do!
I’m so glad you are getting around a lot better this thing takes the cake my friend
What a great video. You showed me the the problem, Showed the solution and how it worked and left the building till the end. And, no f888ing music
Very nice! I bought one, although much simpler, for $50 on Amazon.
Definitely some heart pine in some of that. There's not much there, but i always love seeing heart pine in my logs at work and putting them to the side to bring home.
So great to see you out and moving around again Izzy, genius build no doubt, of course because Izzy is on the job!!!!
I'll go with the 100 dollar one. Planning to buy the plans next week and start building. This is great work. Thanks to the Izzy family. ❤
Awesome!
Izzy you have such a gift that never ceases to amaze me
Very cool, Izzy.
Glad you guys are safe!
Thank you !
Awsome design as always. Great way to make lemonade out of lemons. (Helene)

Thanks, Chris! It was a wild week, but the mill is helping with the clean up.
Always happy to see new videos from you
Excellent tool Izzy. Maybe you could consider putting some pockets on it to hold the wedges.
That's a very neat setup you built there
Very sweet design you might want to consider composite planks so you don’t get swelling/shrinking and longevity
I look forward to your revisions and improvements.
Brilliant work, Izzy! It works great! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Appreciate that, and thank you!
I love when you build things like this. You are always inventing something to make the job easier or more efficient and it shows your skill cause you’re always trying to make inexpensive as well. PS. I noticed what you did there with the cutoff lol
Should've had it cut on the push stroke so it throws the chips away from your carriage and slides.
The man's a genius
That's pretty cool
Thank you

No idea what you mean 🤣

Cool build. All the best to your guys…👍🏼
Damn IZZY ur creations always amaze me, hope HELEENE didn't hit u n Megan too hard , ur builds r LEGENDARY
First of all, glad you both are safe. Understanding this is a prototype, I really like it's potential and would love to see it evolve and sold commercially at some point.
Thank you, and yes, there are some very cool improvements to be made.
Amazing Izzy amazing
You're safe! 0.o ..You're mobile ! *excited kermit arms!
Very cool idea!
I subbed because this is awawesome. Great video.
Great build. Thanks for sharing. Have you considered rip chains for your chainsaw? The saw labors much less this way.
Very nice ingenuity, bigger saw would be nice
Thanks for your video. Your design is perfect. Maybe it is an idea to make some of the wood of the construction stiffer with epoxy and fiberglass on both sides.
Interesting prototype.
Just amazing work! Subbed!
I just discovered your site wish i had found it years ago but didn't have the time back then now thst im retired its wonderful to see all of your grest idea's thank you

That tree in the last shot, your wife should make a sculpture out of it and name it “Richard” lol! That’s hilarious.
