  • Macramé is great hobby for plant enthusiasts, and this is a fun, easy project for anyone who's just getting their feet wet. (I don't make tutorial videos so this is rough AF -- but a tutorial nonetheless.) Thanks for watching!
    What you need:
-Rope (I use Macramé Cord or Jute Rope)
    -Scissors
    -Planter
    -Measuring Tape (optional)

I watched at least a dozen of these “easy” DYI plant hanger making videos. This gentleman by far is THE best instructor. He explains every step in the process concisely. Best of all was his explanation of length. Thank you!

So I had no idea what macrome was before I watched this. It started auto playing after a failed diy rope plant hanging video. I followed your video 1 time I used extra rope as my plant was quite large . It turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!! Thank you so much my rosemary is safe away from my flock and has a gorgeous hanger I didn't know I was capable of making. I subscribed and am definitely trying this again

I was going to order a macrame pot hanger but I came across a hobby kit with macrame cord in it and thought about making my own and that's I came across your video. I love that you show just a basic hanger which is what I wanted. You saved me $10. Thank you so much for making this video!

This video just changed my life lol! I drove to 5 separate store this morning and NO ONE has macramé hangers in my area! I have a several planters I would rather hung. On my way home I thought how hard could it be? I’ll UA-cam it. Found your video immediately and I’m so glad I did! Super informative instructions, your perfectionism is totally relatable and I thought you were endearingly funny! I also now know what everyone is getting for Christmas this year 😂😂🤚🏻Thank you! This is a great tutorial. I especially appreciated how well you showed the gathering and that you can pull the knot through to hide it. Other tutorials have the people's hands in the way so I could never tell if they actually pull the knot up and under the wrap or just up to it. I pulled mine through after watching your video and it's a beautiful wrap now! Thank you!

I've never made anything macramé in my life. I have some English Ivy that I was going to plant outside but then I found out it's poisonous to dogs and I'm afraid my baby might nibble on it. So I figured putting in a hanging planter outside would be best.
I watched this video yesterday morning and then went to wal-mart to get some cord but all they had was jute. That'll do!
Anyway this morning about a half hour ago I made a small practice hanger from memory, AND IT WORKED!!! That's how simple his instructions were. I placed a tiny pot in the netting and fit perfectly.
So now I'm going to start working on the real ones but I'm going to use 4 cords instead if 3 and I'm thinking square and spiral knots will make it POP!
Wish me luck and thanks for this video!!!💞💞💞

Wow I just peeled off 2 of these in no time! Thanks for your clear instructions!! Made them for outside using the standard greenhouse hanging plastic pots they come in. Used some twine/rope I had from a yard sale. Strung 4 strands through a ring and made the gathering knot under that. Used four strands of rope each 100" long to make a final product of 44" long with the tassel. Based the length on 2 outside macrame hangars I bought also at a yard sale some years back they last a long time.

In the last 5 months, I've gone from "I kill all houseplants" and not knowing the difference between "sedum" and "succulent" to having an entire room FULL of succulents. Yup, I've got it bad. Now that it's warming up, I decided tonight that I should get some hanging shelves or plant hangers to put some of them on the porch. Then I remembered how macrame hangers were all the rage when I was younger. So I searched for "easy macrame plant hanger" and found you. I was prepared to have to buy supplies, to take notes, to have to watch a dozen videos and make several terrible wonky ones before I figured out what to do. Then you said "gathering knot" and I thought, "sh*t! I need to have some rope here to practice!" But no. You made this so simple, so logical. After 16 minutes I not only know how to do this, but I'm super excited to get started and am gonna use whatever rope or yarn I have around the house to start!
If you don't make tutorial videos, I definitely don't want to watch anyone who DOES. Excellent job!
BTW, I so love the 3-rope design, I'll probably never use 4. Three is a much better number, so I'm glad I saw this before looking at the ones with 4.

HI NICK! Great video, I’m hitting my rope box this week. Thank you so much for including measurements along the way as others don’t seem to do that and I never know how much rope to cut. I can’t stand very long so I clamp the rope to my table so I don’t have to reach far to make knots etc. I use a typical woodworkers clamp.
