@@ArtChongExtra wow.... dr garuda is here on this channel. I think nsp chavant is more difficult to shape because of the sticky texture on the carving tool while dr garuda uses a material that has more wax layers so it doesn't stick to the tool when used. very happy to see your video and dr garuda....
In my opinion this isn't to long, because it is not only the sculpting and the epic reveal but also the struggel that you as an Artist go through and the evolution the sculpture does take with it. In most points i did think that it was awesome sculpture but then you say "no this doesn't work for me" and than it keeps getting better and better until it is epic. Honestly, such a great piece of art, Art ❤ and I must say, the music composition you choose for the final reveal really was perfect! It really spoke to me as the big drum beats of thunder clashing, truly a momentous reveal!
Fantastic work, man! Been bingeing your videos lately, and I respect how open you are about the struggles inherent to the creative process! Mythology is something that I am invested in, and it takes all my willpower and then some to not go all "um, akshually..." about the designs! This is your work, your achievement, and there is no "wrong" here, as long as it is what you envision. That is something that I struggle with in art. It's not really the hardest part, but it is something that I find difficult. Sticking to a "canon design" when working on an existing character that is not my own. I worry about deviating from the standard design and the chastising sounds of "um, actually, you did (detail) wrong", so I have developed this nasty habit of limiting my artistic liberties when working on established characters, resulting in making them all look stiff and lifeless in the end. The consequences of not daring to take chances. And taking chances and risks in art is what pushes an artist to improve.
Tooooo cool, really hope you can look back on this with complete satisfaction. You are highly adept at highlighting/focusing on supposed mistakes even in the final version of this piece of yours. I loved observing your reasoning for the structuring/positioning. The way you how described the angle of their impact really implies the direction and force Raijin is striking with, as well as the strength of Thor's defense. Really really love this!!! 🔥
Excellent follow up sculpt. And yes, seeing the struggles of someone as talented as you, makes the rest of us feel better... like we aren't completely alone in the "how can I save this piece of sh*t?" thinking. Thanks for the great look into your process.
Funny, what you call design fails, i call entertainment. Its quite cool to see the changes you decide to make and the process of deciding them. To the eyes of a complete amateur as myself, the diorama was already epic from the start! Loved it and im already waiting for the next video! Cheers from Brazil!
I love your videos because they show the reality of the process of creating the sculptures. Many times we have to modify and solve many problems. What you do with Chavant NSP is beautiful.
I've been working on a sculpture. My first time touching clay in a decade. This channel is a great inspiration to keep at it. I enjoy your explanation of your thoughts on design. Keep it up! Love it!
Also your to hard on your self all your sculptures are absolutely amazing thank you so much for taking the time for doing these videos I can’t wait for more
man im so glad i found your first video to be able to see your progress from the very start hopefully i get to watch you to be an even more amazing sculptur than you already are keep up the amazing work man what i struggle with most is actually starting to sculpt
Once again your work is amazing just like your video process! So happy to see the steps and the time it takes you to create such an awesome sculpture! Keep it up please!
What I find the hardest, is finding the time/materials, I have plenty of tools and motivation to learn, I'm just broke and work too much. However that will not always be the case. Your work is super humbling btw.
Thank you, Mark :) I make these videos with the hopes that they will be interesting to non-sculptors, so it's very gratifying to know that you do enjoy them.
Veeeery cool, such a dynamic sculpture! I didn't know about Raijin actually, so it was nice to learn a little bit about him. Nice technique with the super sculpey and mold putty, don't think I've seen anyone use those like you did before either. Again, great video! Your musings really tie the whole thing together. What I personally struggle with? Actually getting the work done, I have more than plenty art ideas (not just for sculpting) but they somehow also feel very daunting. Most of the time I know what I want to achieve but then just struggle getting there (or getting started even). It's what has kept me from making things for many years, so now I just try to finish things despite not feeling it and just try to get it 70% there instead of quitting early on out of frustration. And now I have found that afterwards I'm often quite a lot more happy with the result than I ever thought I could be while hitting the struggle wall. :) Now I'll just have to overcome my horrible procrastination tendencies next...
Thanks Cindy! I sometimes struggle with getting started, too 😭 It's getting easier as I gain more confidence but some days it feels like a real chore to get rolling but like you, if I grit through it I'm almost always happy with making the effort. Keep up with your work and happy sculpting!
You have done an amazing job! I love the dynamism of the figures, they seem to be in motion. It's to be admired all the time and effort you have put to get the best result, even creating a background story for the figures. I hope your work will be appreciated as you deserve!
Excellent work Art ... our fails are just part of our research and development to reach perfection .. and perfection you certainly achieved. Thank you for the video and your time. I'm new to Chavant and I'm just waiting on an order of medium .. now wish I had a block of hard coming too for fine detail as you recommended. .. your video was research and I learnt from it. Thanks again.
Thank YOU for watching, Rod. I’m glad you got something out of it, though my aim isn’t to teach, just share my own journey as an artist :) Btw don’t feel like you have to have hard grade for fine details. You can do quite a lot with Medium. In fact, if you’re not used to Chavant, you’re probably better off sticking with medium for a while, because it will help you learn how to control the material better. Trying to combine hard and medium clays to start can be quite disruptive to the process. When you make some sculptures please feel free to tag me on Instagram. Would love to see what you come up with!
AWESOME WORK!! love seeing it play out from begining to end. Some don't know that a sculpt can be changed multiple times before getting a final product. To me doing faces is the most difficult. I usually use reference art to get armor ideas.
Just finished this second video and damn...really amazing work. I will be in disbelief if you say you don't do illustration professionally. Im glad you allow yourself to fail and restart because the final work both times when you took the risk of restarting elevated each piece phenomenally ❤️👏👏👏. Can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Rachel :) I am... a total amateur lol. I don’t sculpt or do illustrations professionally. I’m so glad to know you enjoyed the videos. Next one is coming... soon? I hope it’s soon. I’m working on it now 😅😅
So I came during your very first upload and man your literally living my dream!! I want to do this SO F*$!#ING BAD! I can feel it down to my core!! Now when I clicked on your picture to take me to your profile and saw that I was watching your very first upload and now to be watching your second was a super humbling experience for me! JUST, because someone as talented as you are I just genuinely expected to already be this famous amazing sculptor with all these fans and all this glory and your simply not that at all (which is not bad AT ALL) because i know your skill alone will grow your page immensely!! But its just reassuring for my own self because ya im a very talented artist I can draw and color anything right out of anyone's imagination and let it flow onto paper like it was suppose to always be there but ive always felt the need to do MORE you know? Take that a step further like off of my paper and this is what ive come to love as of last year. And so far art,( me humbly speaking) you are my absolute favorite person to watch and let be my biggest inspiration to becoming my own sculptor! I can't wait till I can make my own youtubes or whatever in the future and tell the entire world( or whoever cares to listen to my sorry ass lol ) how much you had inspired me to do big amazing things with my creative mind! DONT EVER CHANGE! I love every bit of both of your only videos up so far and I doubt your even going to read this man but its worth a shot? So I ask so so humbly through this outlet and maybe email or something? Would you please please please be a mentor to me and help guide me to making the rite choices to get to where u are creatively? By choices I simply mean as in deciding what materials I am to use etc?....i really hope u read this eventually!! Thanks for your time if you do!! -respectfully- Your future acolyte and student Aka jerica a 25 year old sculptor to be HOPEFULLY 😖😬🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hey Jerica, Thank you so much for your very kind words :) I’m so glad to know you enjoyed the videos. I wish you all the success in the world in your own sculpting! I’ve only been sculpting for about a year, so I don’t think I have the kind of experience needed to be a good mentor/advisor. That said, I don’t mind answering a few questions every now and again. You can always hit me up on twitter @artchong or Instagram @Art_Chong, and I’ll be happy to help as time allows. Happy sculpting!
Keep going with this channel u have so much creativity and amazing energy in your videos along with a very talented set of skills I guarantee youll get to where u want to be on here🤩👍
This is the second sculpture on this channel and it is one of the best even after so many already made. Because it's a concept of versus that excited me to see happening.
hey art, just discovered your channel, love that you share all the ups and downs throughout the process , believe me mate i feel your frustration :) keep up the amazing work!
Really appreciate your videos....there's other sculptures on here but you're the first I've seen who really lets you in on their process. Fun to watch and you're good at what you do man. Keep it up! Also, I only started a few months ago so my anatomy gets out of whack sometimes. All a learning process.
Your work is amazing, the video was funny, educational, interesting and the finished piece is epic. Awesome work, I had a really really great time watching your video. ;)
Great video! Love the channel! Only 2 videos in but you already have a unique style of sculpting and filming! I've just started my own channel something similar but with Zbrush and 3d printing, great to see other sculpting channels starting up! Look forward to seeing more!
You're really hard on yourself. But as an artist myself I can relate. Other than that, you actually are an amazing sculptor. And I'm not saying that lightly. I do sculpture myself among other things and I know how difficult it can be. I've been searching on youtube again and again for the best scuptors. And you're among them with Dr Garuda or scupture_geek. I like the detail of your sculptures as well as how clean it looks. And your big strengh in my opinion is of course your composition. So to rap this up, I'll be keeping a close eye on you and hope to see more amazing work. Great job, Keep it up.
Oh man thank you. Those guys are amazing sculptors, so to be mentioned in the same paragraph is pretty awesome. If you see my sculpts up close I think you might take back the "clean" comment though (please don't pause the video during the final reveal!! 😂😂) Thanks for watching! I'll keep trying my best!
Just subscribed-- I really love how much you talk about the composition process with regard to sculpting! I'm a children's book illustrator, so 2D composition, balance, and communicating ideas is really important to me. It's cool to hear what that looks like in such a different medium :)
Great job, beautiful ! Definitely capturing the movement, even with stationary sculpture, you know. I love how you look for momentum in every piece . Glad i stumbled on your channel.
an alternative to this could have been thor getting ready to "catch" raijin's weapon in mid air while holding his hammer across his own body drawing for a backhand slam
I'm some what of an artist, my favorite thing to do is just draw in lead black and white, some might find it boring, but it's my thing. And the thing that I find the most difficult to do is faces, so I like drawing people without face or maybe masks
I have to say, with me being a new subscriber I absolutely love your videos, I like how there is commentary to your thinking process...especially your side notes during your edit. I also like the energy that you give off while sculpting. BTW I'm not sculptor or wood worker so who am I to judge, lol. I will be looking forward to future content...
You and Dr. Garuda are two of my favourite artists..but personally,I think you have the edge lol. Amazing work sir,I’m just getting into sculpting,I’ve transitioned from drawing and wood carving,my first piece is hellboy, which I’m doing at the moment in das air dry, detail with it is challenging to say the least since I don’t have a kiln,I was thinking of super sculpture but the wife wouldn’t be to happy with stuff in the oven lol, then I’ve spotted chavant nap but it doesn’t set,can you give me some advice if you don’t mind, but absolutely love your art man, thank you,Lee👏👏👏👍
Haha, thank you. That's very kind of you to say. I watch Garuda all the time too.:) Super Sculpey doesn't leave bad smells or anything, so I think you'd be fine sticking it in a home oven (Most people do). If you're just starting and looking for general advice... I would say just sculpt whatever you feel like and have fun. That's how you'll stick with a hobby is if you find it fun and rewarding. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask, and I'll be happy to help if I can. Shifflett Brother's sculpting forum (facebook group) is a great resource/community as well.
Just found the channel. I love this! And as an Illustrator it is perspective on the anatomy I am drawing, it's trying to make the form look 3D on a 2D surface while considering all of the musles and there shapes, zbrush helps figure that out as does reference photos
Oh yeah... foreshortening is like a special skill in itself for illustrators. Hats of to you guys. It's something I never have to deal with lol. Thank you for watching!
Thanks! For hands... I don't have any real tips unfortunately. I've never had a very difficult time with them. I think it's because hands tend to not have a lot of muscle and once you get the bones down you're most of the way there. So I guess if there's a tip there's that. Pay attention to the mechanics of the hand, the sizes of the various palm bones and how they are usually at least a little concave. Hands are more dimensional than most drawing tutorials make it appear, I think.
What a Master Piece 🔥
Whoa! Thanks, Dr! This is quite an honor. I watch your channel all the time. You're one of the main inspirations that got me to start my channel, so thank YOU!

-respectfully-
Your future acolyte and student
Aka jerica a 25 year old sculptor to be HOPEFULLY 😖😬🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hey Jerica, Thank you so much for your very kind words :) I’m so glad to know you enjoyed the videos. I wish you all the success in the world in your own sculpting!
I’ve only been sculpting for about a year, so I don’t think I have the kind of experience needed to be a good mentor/advisor. That said, I don’t mind answering a few questions every now and again. You can always hit me up on twitter @artchong or Instagram @Art_Chong, and I’ll be happy to help as time allows.
Happy sculpting!
Keep going with this channel u have so much creativity and amazing energy in your videos along with a very talented set of skills I guarantee youll get to where u want to be on here🤩👍
Thank you! I'll do my best!
SUPER AMAZING!!!!!!🙌🏼💯
Looks really, really good!!
This is the second sculpture on this channel and it is one of the best even after so many already made. Because it's a concept of versus that excited me to see happening.
hey art, just discovered your channel, love that you share all the ups and downs throughout the process , believe me mate i feel your frustration :) keep up the amazing work!
Really fantastic, it's awesome
Such a amazing artwork! 🤩👌
Really appreciate your videos....there's other sculptures on here but you're the first I've seen who really lets you in on their process. Fun to watch and you're good at what you do man. Keep it up! Also, I only started a few months ago so my anatomy gets out of whack sometimes. All a learning process.
Thank YOU for watching :) I'm glad you find the process fun. I only started sculpting about a year ago myself so good luck to us both!
Your work is amazing, the video was funny, educational, interesting and the finished piece is epic.
Awesome work, I had a really really great time watching your video.

Great video! Love the channel! Only 2 videos in but you already have a unique style of sculpting and filming! I've just started my own channel something similar but with Zbrush and 3d printing, great to see other sculpting channels starting up! Look forward to seeing more!
Amazing work again 😁
I think you've made the right decisions with the armor and the cloud. The end result is super cool! Keep at it!
Thank you!! So glad you liked it :)
You are a inspiration for me, one day i'll be a fellow sculptor
When you sculpt something, please don't be afraid to share it with the rest of us!

Glad to have you! Thank you for watching!
just mind blowing good GG!!!!
Thanks!
thanks for the share !! amazing work !!
Thank you :)
"muscular bearded guy" nah, according to mythology thor is a huge dude with a beer belly who's immensely strong
Thanks for watching! I'll keep trying my best!
Just subscribed-- I really love how much you talk about the composition process with regard to sculpting! I'm a children's book illustrator, so 2D composition, balance, and communicating ideas is really important to me. It's cool to hear what that looks like in such a different medium :)
Thank you! Yeah to me composing the sculpt is the funnest part.
You did Raijin really good I want to check this video to learn how to make a Raijin statue
Great job, beautiful ! Definitely capturing the movement, even with stationary sculpture, you know. I love how you look for momentum in every piece . Glad i stumbled on your channel.
Thank you so much!
Amazing work man!!
Thanks!
an alternative to this could have been thor getting ready to "catch" raijin's weapon in mid air while holding his hammer across his own body drawing for a backhand slam
Incredible as always!
Thanks man :)
Marvelous, it was enjoyable watching you... thanks so much... I appreciate that... 💜
Thank YOU for watching!
So. Rad. Great success to you!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind wishes :)
Love the compesion
I'm some what of an artist, my favorite thing to do is just draw in lead black and white, some might find it boring, but it's my thing.
And the thing that I find the most difficult to do is faces, so I like drawing people without face or maybe masks
Nicely Done Art!
Thanks dude :)
dude you're cool just don't quit youtube i really like your videos
Haha you're too kind, thank you
Finally a new vide yesss!!
I know right? Finally lol. Thanks for watching :)
Amazing stuff❤
Awesome . Love it
Thank you :)
Thanks Samuel! I'm so glad to know that non-sculptors can enjoy the video too :)
I watch Garuda all the time too.:)
Super Sculpey doesn't leave bad smells or anything, so I think you'd be fine sticking it in a home oven (Most people do).
Wow man, you're awesome! I'm glad i've found your channel!
Thank you!
it's an awesome artwork.
Great job
Just found the channel. I love this! And as an Illustrator it is perspective on the anatomy I am drawing, it's trying to make the form look 3D on a 2D surface while considering all of the musles and there shapes, zbrush helps figure that out as does reference photos
Oh yeah... foreshortening is like a special skill in itself for illustrators. Hats of to you guys. It's something I never have to deal with lol. Thank you for watching!
Amazing!!!!!!!!!
This sounds like a premise to an awesome anime
Lol I know right?? Somebody should pay me for the rights to this show $$$
Great video! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that changes the pose 10 times during a sculpt. Any tips on sculpting open hands?
I never clicked on a video so fast!!
Haha thanks. I'll keep them coming as fast as I can... I wish sculpting doesn't take as long to do 😭
Awesome 👌
