I’ve drawn / painted Morgoth three times over the past 30 years and his crown is the hardest part. Its supernatural weight and the Silmarils are a challenge to conceive, let alone depict. I love the art work you selected here but even for the best artist, sometimes with Tolkien it’s impossible to clearly depict what’s in your minds vision while reading. But it’s fun to try.
Is there a place to see these artworks
@@mattcarnevali my art? no, it’s not on the internet. I’d have to email some photos. The first is Morgoth wrapped in the webs of Ungoliant, the second is Morgoth stepping on Fingolfin’s neck and the third is where he’s wearing the crown of Silmarils and his face is hardly visible because they’re so bright. He’s got a great beard in all three.
A very fitting use of his crown!
Love this!
