  • Ride along in exciting real time footage with the crew aboard the Corsair F28cc "Triplet" during the 2020 Detroit Lake Regatta . Filmed with gimbaled stern mounted Gopro, we start 15 minutes after the fleet and enjoy a fast chase of the fleet and a (19kts) spinnaker run from the dam. very nice video, Pete.your girls do a great job. I sail an F-22, previously built a Tremolo 23 Olin/Newick tri and a Crowther Buccaneer 33.Very happy with the F-22 size, performance,
    and ease of dealing with it. I am 71 so trying to take it easy on myself. been sailing for a
    while. Crewed on a friends C&C 35 which has done very well racing, Modified. keep up the
    great videos stay healthy Merry Christmas and Happy new year,Doug

      Thank you dhadams!!!
      I summered 10 years on Cultus Lake before I took Triplet. The weight of the boom and cost kept me from seriously considering the F31since single handing is my passion. Solo set up and recovery when I am older influenced my decision for the F28. I was fortunate in finding Triplet with a good trailer and I have made Detroit Lake my weekend home each year since. I plan to attend SailGP San Francisco Bay in the spring and hopefully poke our bows out beyond the Golden Gate for a little ocean swell. Stay tuned for better footage from above as I learn drone control while sailing solo. Should make for good fun!!!

      I love Joe Satriani. Ian Fletcher Thornley with Big Wreck is greater than ever given credit for.... The music fits the way Triplet sails and I will always love the way she makes me feel in the wind. What a fantastic sail boat design!!!

      @@sailingsvtriplet9109 Love Satriani but I was referring to Thornley. And you are correct. Great musician and band.
      Triplet is amazing and I love you videos. Beautiful fast boat. you do well in training your daughters to sail her. Other boats will seem "slow" after her.

      You must come and spend some time on the lake with us. Sailing Triplet is something no one forgets. We are looking forward to the rebuild of Detroit after the fire storm. The docks were spared but the marina offices and stores will have to be rebuilt, as will the town. We consider ourselves summer weekend residents of Kane's Marina, and we look forward to seeing the area reborn after so many lost their homes and businesses. We hope to continue flying the Triplet sails on Detroit Lake for years to come.

    Wow! That’s a great sailing vid. Love every second of it even though you didn’t have a professional crew, the girls rocked.

      Thankyou!!! Detroit Lake usually puts Triplet through her paces.
      The videos rarely do justice to the thrills of sailing the F28 but are fun to revisit while we wait for the next season. Hopefully, we will be able to return in 2021 when the town and marinas begin to rebuild from the devastating fire storm where so many people have lost homes, businesses, and property.

    Nice tri! Your mast rigging looks very slack though might be worth tightening up.
    If you take the winch handle out before releasing the jib sheet during the tack it's much faster to sheet in the new sheet.
    Run downwind at about 140degreas true wind angle to get the fastest vmg possible
    Enjoy

    Very nice video. So good to see a young woman out there grinding those winches! Maybe Dad needs a tiller extension for Christmas so he can get out of the cockpit up wind - LOL!
    Do you keep the crews weight forward so the stern doesn't drag?

    • @sailingsvtriplet9109
      @sailingsvtriplet9109  3 роки тому

      Thankyou!!! It was a great day of sailing! The high pressure is always a challenge and crews love to ride the high side. I prefer the weight forward of the shrouds to counter my own weight aft. Young ones enjoy the forward net views... High pressure raises the bows when close hauled, pressing the aft leeward ama under, forward weight counteracts...We all ride aft on the downwind run. And yes, I do have tiller extensions, but I normally single hand and still prefer the cockpit where I have quick access to the sheets when I'm pressed by gusts. Short tacking on the lake requires me to time the maneuvers carefully lest we fall into irons and become driftwood near shore... And I have learned to keep the screecher or spinnaker sheet in my hand, having stuck the bows a few times...Thanks again for joining us! Cheers!!!

      Thank you John!!! She’s calling to me from the barn... I’m as anxious as you! We launch in May after the annual maintenance list. Winds average 15-20kts on Detroit Lake which borders my reefing point. Exciting sport , and she is a joy!!!

      @@sailingsvtriplet9109 I just re-watched this again! Awesome video SIR, but I saw you said 25 to 30 mph winds wow! this boat handled it well, so your dumbing air and just letting the boat do what she does? Was there or is there any concern about losing control? I have a F27 and damn this 28 is fast I wonder if mine is this capable?

      Yes!!! APPARENT winds can gust very strong over 25kts. Average true winds are around 15-20 but the gusts are intense! I spill power w lowered traveler to trim her heel and would reduce jib when single handing. Regular top speed upwind tops 18kt in the Triangle, and on the run w spin we topped 19!!! But w crew I’m more confident by utilizing their weight on board. SO ANXIOUS TO GET OUT THERE AGAIN!!!

    What are your thoughts on the F28 vs the F24? I'd like the biggest one I can trailer. But there is a 24 near me for sale. and it's affordable.

    • @sailingsvtriplet9109
      @sailingsvtriplet9109  3 роки тому

      In my opinion, the F28 is the best trailerable Trimaran. Big enough for long stays aboard, faster than any 24,27, and some older 31s. I set up and recover solo all the time. I pull her w a Suburban (4x4). And I will never want bigger unless I give up single handing. Find a good 28 and you won’t regret it.
