    Roy was a great guitar player, very under rated. Very great.

    Great video thanks. Try to imagine back in 57 the strings on this guitar were probably heavier gauge flat wounds with a wound G string. And the smaller vintage frets. Which would make the feel of a Strat much different than what we are used to today.

    Great video guys and congratulations on getting ahold of this guitar. At this point it’s not about the price but preserving history. Guitar would’ve definitely sold for well within the 6 figure mark

    I have a Peavey Falcon strat that may have been modeled after this guitar, it has the smoothest neck Ive encountered even when compared with guitars priced in the thousands of dollars. This is an amazing story and an amazing guitar! Thanks for sharing and for bringing this storey to us! EDIT: My Peavey is made in USA and is 20-30 years old, obviously not anywhere as nostalgic as this fender masterpiece!

    Pee wee crayton is widely considered the first blues artist to use a fender stratocaster. He also played a 1950s strat, possible 54 that Leo gave him. same custom color without the gold anodized pick guard. Check him out

      @@Guitarhunterdk do you know what year his was?

  • @noglobalists

    I may be fuzzy on the details, but I believe there is a guitar custom-made for Roy by Leo Fender made of wood grown with green ink to enhance the grain. I don't think I ever saw it, but knew of its existence. For whatever reason (kids!) his daughter Debbie painted it black.
    So - there may be a very special black guitar with hidden beauty beneath.
    Roy used to say when he was born his folks were so poor that "my mother had to go next door to have me."

    • @noglobalists
      @noglobalists 2 місяці тому

      OK; I checked with the wife. Debbie painted a rare teal Strat black, not the dye-injected-wood guitar I mentioned. That one was a hollow-body, not a Strat.

    Interesting video and a lovely looking guitar. I'm guessing the pickups are not original - there is no mention of the pickups in the video, and the pots ?

    • @Guitarhunterdk
      @Guitarhunterdk  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching. When we say all original in the video, we mean everything. Otherwise we can’t say all original :-) So yes, the pickups,wiring,soldering and pots are factory stock. Everything is 100% original. You can also see the whole description on our website.
      Thanks Peter

      We have made a setup to 0.10 - 46 gauge. Back in the days it originally came with flat-wounds. But we have to remember, that was a different time with a different style of playing . Thanks for watching

    I don't get it. You say that you had to have this guitar, and then you say it's for sale. Great story though and truly a unicorn of an instrument. Shame you didn't plug it in and give it a strum.

      Thanks for watching! We are a Guitar Shop that buy and sell 😊 When I say I need this guitar, I of course mean I need to have it in our inventory like anything else we buy and sell 👍🏻. So there is no difference here, only that it’s one of the most incredible guitars we have ever had.
      Regarding sound. We believe that people are able to hear many great vintage guitars on UA-cam but in this case it was more important for us to have focus on the guitar itself and the story. Have a great day
      Thanks

      Hi Vitotesta. John and me has been friends for a long time. We have the same passion. we love to hunt the best and most incredible guitars. So when I talked with John from True Vintage Guitar about this one, I simply need to have it. It's just more than a 57 Stratocaster. History and everything do this guitar so special and not to mention important for the Fender history. We simply need to have this guitar in our selection. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated.

      @@Guitarhunterdk Thank you for your reply. I think that it would be great if Fender came out with a Roy Lanham model. The neck sound's right up my alley. Never cared for the princess/player necks that seem to dictate so much of guitar models these days. There are so many 'signature' Strats which bare the name of significantly less talented players. Long live Roy!
