You're not late this wonderful woman who could sing the phone book and I would listen to it, was held captive by her record label to the point that she became rent a voice. So she went independent. They wouldn't let her sing what she wanted to sing. She's a London girl she's had a lot of shit to go through. This year blew her up to what we are now seeing those of us who have followed for years are so happy for her. She was nominated for 7 Brit awards and won 6 of them. Three artists in this country who went independent and are killing it. REN GILL CHINCHILLA RAYE.
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 😊 glad you love our Raye! Raye is a really interesting artist as she can rap really well (which I think you picked up on) as well as belt like Whitney and also bring the soul/jazz vibes like Amy. She is also a very successful songwriter and has written for too many A list artists to mention - just recently, she wrote for Beyonce on her new album, which gives you an idea. She also cooks in the studio and does sound engineering too 😊 She also co-directs all her music videos (which are incredible like Kendrick levels of creativity) and is just an all round amazing creative talent. She is also a musician and wants to bring back live music. I think you would find her back story interesting - she was signed to the record label Polydor in 2014 for a three album deal. She wasn't treated well by them at all, and she was not allowed to release any albums despite having signed a specific 3 album contract with them. They only allowed her to be a featured artist on EDM tracks. They told her she wasn't talented enough, can you even believe! They also used her (very profitable) songwriting abilities and got her to write for many people during this time (she would write several songs a day to get an idea of her volume). She eventually had enough, and a few years ago, she managed to break the contract. She decided to go independent, released her first album, and since then, she has thrived. She has the record for winning the most amount of BRIT awards in one night (2024). I think our BRIT awards are like your Grammys. She has also been nominated for some Grammys too which is amazing and exciting for her! She is known for performing with a live band and usually a choir. She loves working with musicians 😊 She has a number of live performances which you would enjoy: her BRITS performance medley (the night she won all her awards), The Thrill is Gone at the Mercury Awards Ceremony, It's A Man's World cover at the AMAs and also at the Montreux Jazz Festival, her Tiny Desk Performance is amazing (shows her jazz side), Worth It live at the Hilton Hotel in London, Genesis on The Daily Show, Escapism and Worth It both on SNL, Feeling Good cover on TripleJ (UA-cam), Escapism/Oscar Winning Tears/Body Dysmorphia medley at the MTV awards, Oscar Winning Tears on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Secrets (Garden acoustic version where she plays the piano), All Dressed up acoustic (underrated and a gorgeous performance). You will notice that she never performs the same song in the same way twice and is very talented with her musical arrangements of her live performances ❤️
Raye is unbelievable, Id recommend listening to her Medley at the Brits which contains four of her songs. Ice cream man, Prada, Genesis and Escapism. Watching this you will get a glimpse of her range and the different styles of music she can perform. Generational talent that writes and composes all her sings differently every single time.
Raye is the truth-a Musician with the capital M. Check out her Tiny Desk, Live at Montreux Jazz Festival, Live at the EMAs 2024, Live at Mercury Prize 2023, and her album My 20th Century Blues. But honestly you can’t go wrong with her, especially live!
Subbed for more RAYE watch her Brit Award Melody live of Ice Cream Man, Prada, Genesis & Escapism, for a Jazz vibe Worth It at the Hilton Hotel, for blues The Thrill is Gone at the Mercury Prize Awards, for Dance/EDM her Dance Mashup at Radio 1 Weekend, for old school her cover of its a man's world at the Montreaux Jazz Festival & videos of her debut album My 21st century blues tracks Hard out Here, Flip A Switch, Escapism
Raye comes from the same part of Lodon as Amy Winehouse and they both went to the Brt performing arts school so the similarity is a litle of the accent and the style of classic jazz licks that is where the sameness ends in my op
Hey H.I.M., I love your reaction to RAYE Oscar Winning Tears, she be talking her Sh!t on this one for real-such an incredible performance! Since you enjoyed RAYE so much, I think you'll love Young Athena. Would you please react to her performance of "Beautifully Crushed Petals" (Live at Metropolis)? Thank you for sharing such joyful reactions, and have a blessed day!
“Height is irrelevant, he was a one out of 10“ it’s not being petty… She’s talking about his personality not his looks. That’s why she says “I wish that I knew it then“.I hope you see that as the song went on.
She's amazing. Your next stops should be her music videos of Genesis., Escapism., Ice Cream Man.. Then you will want to check her entire album, trust me.
Can you also react to her music videos please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻: "Genesis" "Hard out here" "Flip a switch" "Ice Cream Man" "Black Mascara" Thank you and subbed for more Raye reactions 😊❤ Love from the UK XXX

"name is irrelevant, height is irrelevant" = don't matter who it was it's about what they did.
