- 5 Things I Hate About The 2018 BMW M4 F82
There isn't much to hate about the 2018 BMW M4. There aren't many issues with the M4, and there aren't many big problems that I see you having long term with this car, but there are five things that I can tell you will bother most people after they've driven the BMW M4 for a few weeks time.
There are a few cosmetic things for sure that will drive you crazy about the car. For example (check the thumbnail), there's me hurting the back of my leg against the car near the door. I'm also not a big fan of the BMW M4's rear seat access. This is just a fact of a 2 door coupe, and really the #BMW #M4 does alright at this. The one problem with that though is if the seat is moved all the way forward, your seat hits the ceiling as it falls forward.
Probably the biggest thing that I hate about the BMW M4 F82 is the number of warnings/chimes that I get when I am driving. It's just that every warning is met with a chime, and it's the same chime, and after a while that gets annoying. The last thing that I really talk about is the fact that the 2018 #BMWM4 turns off when you stop. This is all in the name of conserving energy and saving the planet, so that's good, but honestly, it can be annoying.

So basically the only actual issue with this car is getting in and out due to it being so wide and low. The rear seat space and getting in and out doesn't matter, as it is a 2-door-coupe and the rear seats are really only emergency seats you will only ever rarely use. This also renders the issue with the headers irrelevant, if you dont use the back seats and put the biggest guy you can find in there you will never have an issue with the seats rubbing. The warning chimes is also not an issue of the car, do what the car tells you and all chimes are gone. Not that difficult I'd say. And last but not least, automatically turning off at stops. That one is actually an amazing feature I love about the car, because everytime you stop, not only do you save gas (which this car likes to use in rather high anounts), you also get to hear it starting up every time and frankly it sounds amazing, so I dont really see the issue here once again. Good video though and the color of that M4 is magnificent, mind telling me the BMW Code for it? Cheers!
Datoda honestly this guy is just being petty with the smallest things and i honestly agree with the car stoping its not an issue and helps you to make full stops by having the car shut down temporarily and in a few seconds the car is up and moving

So you are complaining about items 4 and 5, both that are controlled by turning them of by a switch. Man you must be lazy.

Re. the seat touching the header: I might be wrong, but if you tilt the seat over first, then use the switch on the seat back to move it forward, will that sort the issue?

I fell the same way bro, specially the the start and stop future, that’s the one that a hate the most, The start and stop future should be a option that I turn on whatever I like not a option that is automatically on when I start my car, it’s really annoying when I have to start my car and also I have to press the bottom so it doesn’t start and stop at the same time.
TURN AUTO START/STOP OFF. You only need to do it once....once...it has memory and stays off forever.
I can also solve the issue with not being able to fit large people in the back and having the seat to far forward for the little folks. Try swapping seat positions around..everyone will be happy.
Regarding the door sill and the chimes...in 2 years never had either issue

I have an M4 competition m performance with the same side sill..... Never caught my foot on the sill once lol.... But the two things I do hate about my M4 are:
1) Seat belt has no lateral adjustment up or down.
2) Unlike the previous 435d I ran, the M4 doesn't have a seat belt butler to bring the belt forward so I constantly have to turn far back to grab the belt. Not a biggie but would be nice if it had the same belt feature as the 435d did.
Suhail Jamil best way to do it is to actually put your hand under your shoulder instead of over and back. Atleast thats what I do in mine haha. Just kinda reach back by your hips i guess

Guys whay Mark is saying about the door edge is for situation like for examples:
1. If you drive a short trip say to go post office then pick up the milk, then supermarket buy groceries, all the chime noise and the door edge makes inconvenient to get in and to get out of the car, especially in short multiple stop trips, thats probably why he bruised his leg, the door edge and chime noise put some deduction on comfort.
For this part i think e92 and w204 is still very convenient and more comfortable.
The w205 merc the head room is so low you hit the pillar with your head if not careful when entering and exiting the car, with 205 merc they made the center console so wide copying the s class you cont stretch or spread your legs apart very cramp space both leg room and head room on the current c, e and s class if you compare with last generation. The current mercedes is definitely not good news for tall overweight people especially the front leg and head room space.
Mark is right they also should have a permanent turn off function for the fuel saving engine start and off via i drive menu.
In my opiniom
BMW and Merc Audi, are sold for technology, its all about been in front of everyone else, some of the function may not have durability in mind but I think all German car maker wants their customer to replace their car once new model comes out. Since the networth/income of their customer can afford german car so to the manufacture they want customer to replace new model after 7 years to 10 years, with this in mind of the car maker, as long as the functions and reliability last up to 10 years the manufacture done good job with the offering of the latest technologies that japanese car maker either follow copy or step down to make it cheaper.
So after owning f430, c63, e92.m3 e65 735 i learnt this:
After 10 years i am never too picky on small problems german car have, and you can always do DIY on german cars after 10 years, engine oil becomes cheap as it would be older certification ones you can get in costco, since the tech would be low after 10 years everyone mechanic can fix it.
German car are for technology, its about been ahead of everyone in safety, performance and comfort, most of the time for comfort, the part they are not good at is practicalities and after 10 years reliability.
I think Bmw wanted the customer to believe their car is faultless, so some of the design despite is not good in the name of mechanical reliability, but if it can last 10years, its time to get the next generation, as all bmw driver and german car driver should know better not to stand still on their career path and income.
This is what german cars about. To all the german car haters. Its like saying never wear polo shirt or armani. And polo shirt and armani been more pricey needs to last forever... not good thinking imo. German car are great rewards for people who is ahead and want stay ahead forever.

I bought one but a convertible, only issues are the ones owner is not used to like Iv been driving AMG’s all my life but I cannot find the luxury of an amg in a bmw so to cut a long story short every car maker has its drawbacks or shall I say the characteristics of those cars , I guess you just get used to the new motor or stick with brands are more you..,. ExoticCar PlayPlace I see where you’re coming from. I own an M4 GTS and BMW eliminated most of these issues you talked about with the GTS. With the deletion of the back seat the car is much easier to get out of, because the seats are positioned farther back.Unfortunately they made very few of them.
Its like two different designers work on them, and they don't agree on overall aesthetics. The exterior of most look superior however their interiors are behind even Peugeot.
Overall an amazing drive though.
#3 broke my visor. 100$+ to fix.

Why is auto on/off an issue when you can disable it?
It defaults to this in drive mode. I understand the concept but I feel it should be reserved for the little fuel misers and not the M cars.
@@ECPP Really? My m240i has it and I toggle it off and it stays off even after shutdown. I never have to even think about it. You'd think an 2018 M4 would do the same. That's ridiculous that a performance car like that makes you toggle that off every time you get in the car. I'm really surprised.
I agree with you about #4 but the rest is bullshit. I have an f80 and the only thing I hate is the exhaust sound which everyone knows that’s the only one thing that is sucks on the f8x you just tripping bro

Wtf do you expect from a sporty coupe? It has 4 seats so it can appeal to more drivers but literally isn’t for 4 people.

Very nice vehicle, but I could only imagine the amount of problems that are gonna be showing up with age, especially with the shut off, and then turn on after you remove your foot off the break, BMW= big money wagon👍
Time will definitely tell. You also have DCT, turbos, plus, plus.
ExoticCar PlayPlace I wish they would just focus on performance, and handling, and stop complicating the vehicles with so much electrical gadgets, it only rack up maintenance costs through the roof, I have a 2009 and trust me, I don’t see myself climbing up any higher than that, I just wanna drive and have fun, I don’t wanna go bankrupt fixing unnecessary things.
