- A Muslim pupil at Michaela School has lost a High Court bid, challenging the school's ban on all religious prayer during school hours. The High Court has deemed the school's position is entirely lawful.
‘This was not an anti-muslim diktat, this was a secular school. It doesn’t matter what your faith is, you aren’t taking time out of the school day to pray…
It was a universal rule that one muslim pupil decided to invent as a sort of specialised prosecution against herself.’

I taught at an independent girls' school for some years.
In my class was a Muslim girl who played the race card at every opportunity: she couldn't attend assemblies (for religious reasons), she couldn't attend chapel (for religious reasons), she couldn't attend anything she didn't want to attend (for religious reasons), yet she could attend all the fun things like discos and days out etc.
In the words of another member of the class: "she does all the good stuff, but she doesn't do any of the bad stuff".
The worst was the management of the school were only too happy to fall over backwards to accomodate her.
In education, this is where the real problem lies.
As a teacher in public school, how disgusted to see their true nature by using all kinds of unrelated arguments to finally what? Banning my child to get 5min of conversation with God which they and their family regard as the most important thing on earth. If life has no much meaning to you, don't impose the meaninglessness of modern philosophy on all citizens...This is not even liberal!

It was an important win because Muslims would want every school in the country being disrupted. Some of these schools have kids that follow all kinds of different religions/ faiths if you change things for one group you got to allow others to do the same the school would never be able to function.

The same should happen at work, when I have to work some people disappear and pray. We get paid the same and they do not have to stay at work any longer, it is a joke.

The Meeting should Continue without them!! Plus they should be docked pay according to time missed. Any info missed is on them and if they miss important content that relates to their performance at work it should be brought up at their Yearly Performance Interview! This is Crazy BS, As a Company or Corrporation I employ you for 8 hours a day and this is the contract you signed when you became an employee. If you feel the need to meet some requirement of your own personal beliefs then you can indulge it on your break times or lunch break as I will NOT be Incurring the Costs of Special rooms and or loss of productivity related to Your Inability to Comply to Your Job Specifications!! Had this case been won the ramifications for the rest of us in all aspects of life in this Country would have been horrendous.
Well if it's that important to them to pray there are circa 50 Muslim countries for them to go and live in.

That’s embarrassing. The mum taking the school to court, making us muslim look bad. To go as far as saying its racism. We have to follow “the rule of the land” where we live. Its as simple as that. If you can’t pray in that school then find another school that will allow you to pray.
Here in England we can practice our religion freely without being persecuted, we have mosque…
We are allowedto wear head covering in workplace….. i can go on…. If she is not happy with the law of this country she should leave.
When i was a printer, we had casual agency staff working in the mail room and one day i came downstairs from the press to see 6 foreign poss muslims kneeling and kissing the floor by a reelstand ffs.
They have them in every food factory they call them pray room's.

@Richnineteenseventyone. I used to sell equipment to the print industry and saw print operations of all kinds. One of my customers who employed Muslims had to install a special “cubicle”/trap in the men’s toilet. The toilet bowl was installed so that the user did not “face Mecca” when having a dump! Stay safe and well.

A rare example of common sense from our judiciary
Firstly they should stop categorizing the school menu on some dishes saying non-halal. So very soon people of all faith will start to ask to publish their faith meat categorizing such as non kosher, non-hindu meal, non jain meal, non jatka meal bla bla. Why extend long rope to non-halal only, time to stop such rubbish in schools. It's the only place where pupil should not be identified with their ethnicity or religion period.
And halal meat means that the animals slaughtered are subject to the most cruelty!

I worked for a company where the Muslims wanted a prayer space and the Bosses told them they were expected to come to "work" and that they had no reason to provide prayer spaces for anyone. There were plenty of grins from the indiginous workers. No imposing a foreign religion in that company.
I'm so glad the courts have seen common sense and put a stop to all this Islamic prayer room nonsense.
