I applaud your review. Bevel razors are strongly targeted towards Black men or other races that suffer from razor bumps due to curly facial hair. Being a mixed race man I don’t have trouble with razor bumps, but I have family members that do. It’s good to see a company selling a good product that can be used by everyone. Thank you Ken, love your videos and love your channel. A big THUMBS UP! 👍🏼
Ken love your videos, thanks for doing them for us. I recently returned to wet shaving with double edge safety razor and your reviews have been very helpful. I have been shaving with a Merkur 23C which I’ve heard is a good razor to get back into shaving with. I’ve been through different brands of blades and I’ve found that the Astra green box blades work best for my face. Well, I was in Target this week and low and behold there was a Bevel razor crying out “buy me, please!” So after getting it home I wanted to see how it compared to my Merkur. First impression was that it was quite a bit heavier than my Merkur. Second, in order to do a fair comparison, I lathered up my face and shaved one side with my 23C. I rinsed and took the blade out of the 23C and put it in the Bevel. The Bevel gave me a more aggressive shave. It felt better in my hand because of the weight and I like the long handle (like the 23C). I’m a big guy (6’ 2”, 245lbs) with big hands so I like a long handle to hold. Bottom line: I like the Bevel razor. It feels well made and gives a close shave on my face.
Great Video Ken my dad would break in his new boar brush with Borax Powder in his shave bowl with a splash of hot water I live in West Texas and grew up around live stock and we have a Cabin in Ruidoso New Mexico for Hunting. My Dad passed at 92 4 years ago and I have his Vintage Gillette's and only one brush survived all these years an ever-ready exactly like the one you refurbished. Borax Method is used to soften hides for tanning you can even add a little Alum powder lol if your like if your like me you must a few broken pieces of alum laying around. The Idea is to create a Borax paste and just work the brush in the bowl as if you were making lather once should be enough to split the ends on the boar bristles. Takes about 30 mins and repeat any time for a softer brush.
Hello Ken. Barbus is made in Slovakia. Interesting razor and I saw it in Target one day. Oh, and if you want heat and humidity, come to Houston....take care and have a good week!
Glad I'm not into collecting razors of all types because I would go broke but I do like the vintage one's I bought like the gillette slim adjustable, fatboy 1959 and rolls razor;maybe i'll buy the feather as 2 someday.
I'm two years late but that shave cream is a SLOVAKian product, the country I've been born in. Interestingly enough, I myself have never tried it. Super cheap in local markets tho.
Awesome shave Ken. I bought a Bevel on Amazon for $34. I did not buy the other products. I used the razor and it is awesome. The blades that come with are good. I also used other blades and they worked well. Your review was helpful in me making my decision. Thanks
Your reviews are great to watch made me a subscriber far more personality in yours than others I've watched keep up the good work and by the way you made me buy a bevel razor!
Hi, this Barbus shaving cream is made in Slovakia. Former Czecho-Slovakia. I m from here so I know it. This green shaving cream is with chlorophyl..the classic blue cream is with glycerin. The company makes also really nice shaving soap.. Brabus is not overpriced just like other products and i ve tried a few. Makes honest priducts. If I could point out, please try some ALPA products. For example after shsves and colognes. Alpa is company from Czech. Products are not fancy looking but of a great guality..in the honest simple manner of the past..perhaps for someone even nostalgic days. Simple, clean but put the standard for after shave products. I m using proraso red shave soap at the time..but i m interchanging products. Thank you for your videos. Wish u a lot of upcoming successsful videos. Take care of yourself..and have a wonderful day. Juraj
I just got mine and I’m very impressed with it and I have to say it’s an easier shave than my futur and I thought that was a great shave. Love your videos so keep up the good work.
Excellent shave Ken!! I've been using my Semogue Owners Club boar and it's becoming just as soft as any badger. Ken is correct, a boar takes about 10 uses until the hair starts to split and boy it's glorious. 💈💈💈💈💈
Have you ever tried the Bombay Shaving Company set? The razor is close to the Bevel and the Bombay was the first razor I ever used and it came with Feather blades.
Awesome video Ken! Always love getting that notification when a new video comes out! Sounds like I need that razor though haha keep up the great work my friend!
Great shave. I've seen the Bevel razor at Target stores in my area. It was also great review of a razor that you will encounter at Target. It's sadly almost time to shave off the mustache since an ingrown hair on my upper lip is gone. The California heat wave is also a perfect time to do a menthol shave. It's also been hot here in the Midwest and the Northeast and the only effective way to conquer the heat is a menthol shave
Hi Ken- Very nice shave and review today; thank you! The Bevel looks like a nice razor. Would also enjoy seeing you use the Cremo horsehair brush in an upcoming video if you like; it’s been awhile. It’s a great mid-size brush and I think some of your newer subscribers would like seeing it. Well, have a great week and all the best, Ken!
Barbasol Brisk is a great aftershave. Burns like hell going on but in a few seconds you get this icy cold (from the menthol in it) feeling and for me it stays and lingers a while, that icy feeling. Dollar General has had it for $1.59 whereas online its $5.
I think it’s 100degrees everywhere right now. I spoke with someone in NYC last week and it was 103 there. Ironically, we only got to 95 here in Texas today.
I love that de shaving is slowly wedging it’s way back into American retail! Maybe a day will soon come that we can have a nice selection of blades at our local stores.
I had the same issue with Prasso and some other soaps, so I avoid menthol. Also I have 2 Semoug Brushes, but now prefer synthic brushes. Hope they find the lost IPhone. Have a Great as well.
The Bevel was the second razor I bought, VDH being the first. My favorite thing about the Bevel is how the ends of the razor cap off the ends of the blade. I accidentally sliced my finger pretty good on the corner of a blade with my VDH when I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing, but don't have to worry about that with the Bevel!
I am very pleased to see you give the Bevel a try. This is one of the few times I can actually hang with you since I have this razor in my collection! #1. (All of the following are "in my opinion"), On the subject of Bevel's Blades: they are exceptionally smooth and a equal to ANY brand of blade. I have yet to find a razor they do not work well with and with the Bevel DE Razor is a virtually perfect fit. #2. I find the Bevel Shave System(which is actually the official name of the razor)to be slightly more aggressive than a Mekur 34 C or Edwin Jagger DE89. In fact, the Bevel WILL BITE YOU if you add the slightest bit of pressure with the incorrect angle or if you a shaver fond of "buffing". For example press too hard with a EJ89 and you usually just feel the keenness of the blade but do so with the Bevel and it bites and blood follows. Head to head with similar razors it is less forgiving with certain rookie mistakes. Consequently, if one has to choose one razor to learn with I think the Mekur or EJ may be better . On the other hand if the shaver is experienced and understands shave angles and such, it's a toss up. #3. I do not find it a slippery razor but when wet I've noticed the narrowness of the handle makes a difference compared to most other razors in terms of manipulation and maneuvering the razor. This ties into my previous thoughts on it is not necessarily the best choice for a rank beginner. #4. Those who do not face the cold, sharp steel being dragged across the face; opinions of choice of aftershave lotion is of no consequence.... Nuff Sed... ;-)
If you like menthol, you have to try Summer Break Soaps Cannonball! It doesn't have menthol, but it has a similar cooling agent that lasts a really long time after the shave.
Nice shave Ken. Looks like the Bevel razor might be with you for awhile. I like the idea of the curved ends on the top cap. Gotta love the burn man, lol. Pinaud, classic old time scent. Another great video. See you next time. Enjoy!
Nice razor , right now the merkur 15c is my go to cus it’s not as aggressive, my problem is my skin is sensitive but my hair thick , still trying to find the perfect one
Maybe try a Karve 'Christopher Bradley' razor. If this razor had been available a few years ago I would have very few razors in my collection. It's been a long journey but I got there in the end.
fantastic looking razor! I really like the milder razors. As an aside, I have sensitive skin and I have no issues with the Proraso green. Mind you, all of us are different but I wanted to mention it. I wish Gillette would come out with a modern reproduction of some of a few of their vintage razors. I will check out the Bevel website. Great video, as always, Ken. Have a great week.
I do like the shaving head on the Bevel but hate the handle. I swapped the handle out with one of my Gillette Heritage's and like the Bevel much better now. I find it slightly more aggressive than the Heritage. Really the only two DE razors that I'm familiar with at the moment.
Great video Ken. I wish you would do more vintage razor shaves. I love the non-adjustable shavers, as I can't get past #4 on my Fatboy. Non adjustable shavers keep me out of trouble.
Great shave Ken. I love the menthol chill myself. Proraso white is what I recommend for those with extremely sensitive skin and they do make a preshave cream as well. I use Cremo's cooling shave cream as a preshave myself. Give me that comfortable feeling that reminds me of a butter knife yet my beard disappears like a sniper does into the bush when they are on a stalk.
Very nice looking razor, and great shave as always. BTW, I'm starting to believe in boar brushes again. Just got a Semogue Excelsior 830. Will be making some videos as I break it in.
The next time I use this I will use the blade that came with it and see if it makes a difference to me. I hope it does cause I really want to like this razor.
The Czech Republic and Slovakia where the shaving products line is manufacture by "HERBA" the same company that also makes the Great Alpa shaving cream
Alpa, a.s. and Herba Drug Ltd. are two different companies, really. Alpa is a Czech bran and Herba is a Slovak brand, at least currently: www.alpa.cz/en/contact herbadrug.sk/kontakt/ (no English version, you might have to use Google Translate or something similar) Herba bought the Barbus line and other products from deMiclén Levice (also a Slovak Brand). Source: herbadrug.sk/o-nas/ I really like the Barbus croap (the one that comes in a 150ml tub). Inexpensive, good performer, fairly clean ingredients. Although for a quick shave, I just tend to use a plain soap bar and a mild razor.
I am looking for the best double edge razor to shave my head and face both, do you recommend anything in particular? I have been using Straight Razors but as I get older I get too lazy to sharpen them and I have had bad experiences with shavette type razors. My favorite was a 5/8 Wedge Butcher & Wade.
Another excellent shave video! Thanks for introducing us to all these great products I am a big fan/proponent of boar brushes particularly the Semogue I would love to be able to offer them in my store but haven't had any luck finding away to get them direct i.e. wholesale the last time I checked their website it was pretty broken.
Hello, Ken how are you, similar type of razor by the BOMBAY shaving company is available in India, I have tried that but from last more than three months I am shaving with Merkur 37c, DAILY and that has become my go to razor, for me that is not aggressive at all rather very efficient, no razor burns or irritation, rather I get a smooth shave in two passes, hope you will review Merkur 37c again with Gillette 7o'clock black blades.
I've been using a feather popular about once a week for the past 5 years. It recently has started crapping out on me (well worth the $14 i paid for it) I'm really wanting to get a razor that would suit my sensitive skin a bit better, and was wondering if this is the one I should get? Im also considering the merkur progress 510 and merkur 34c
Salutations Ken! I've decided to step into the wonderful world of wet shaving and was wondering if you would compare the Bevel razor to the Supply Injector razor. Both have peaked my interest after my initial Weishi razor purchase. I can easily see how the hobby can be addictive as I've purchased Astra blades, a boars hair brush, razor stand etc. Recently ordered a Gillette Super Speed from the year I was born! I might be heading to Shavers Anonymous if this continues. I'm learning the ins and out of wet shaving from watching you and Geofatboy! I'm hooked!
Hi Ken, greetings from England. It would be great if you could review a razor called the 'Braveheart'. It's made by a company based in Glasgow, Scotland called The Executive Shaving Company. It is hands down the best razor in my rotation and has the most amazing audible feedback of any razor I have used. I would even be willing to send mine across to let you borrow! They also make great shaving creams and superb brushes. Kind regards Chris
Dont know about the modern versions but the barbus classic is manafactured in slovakia it is also mostly handmade to preserve the originallity and be the same as it was a few decades ago just a small interesting fact
Really enjoy your videos Ken,my Wife is even getting on board and watching some shave channels but isn't gonna try wet shaving.lol Long Live your channel.👍
Hi. How many times would you use a Gillette disposable razor before you toss it? Vs. a double edged razor? Sorry if you have answered the question before. Thanks.
James Simon, the EJ DE 89 is not spectacular. It is light weight only, but well built and by far the mildest razor I own. So mild, that I never get a BBS, but certainly a clean shave if I use an aggressive blade in it. Most models have a low grip, are slippery. They have a vast choice of pleasant designs. The prices are inconsistent and rather high some times.
Hi Ken, Which razor gives a better shave, the van der hagen or bevel? When i started wet shaving i didn't know about any of these wet shaving channels, I just visited my local target searching for some cartridge razors and saw both the van der hagen and this bevel razor on the shelf and thought they looked pretty cool, however at the time the van der hagen was 17 dollars and the bevel was 40-50 dollars and i wasn't comfortable spending over 40 dollars for a razor i wasn't sure i was going to like or be able to use. so i opted for the cheaper van der hagen, which to this day has served me well enough but i always wondered if i would have had a better experience with the bevel.
Hey Ken, which would you suggest as far as a safety razor, brush, and shave cream for someone with very sensitive skin? Trying to get into the game from cartridge razors and want the info from the best!!
There is a replica of this razor selling over the Amazon.... Under the name Bombay shaving company....but it's an adjustable razor... It comes with two bottom plates.... Very mild
Hi Ken another epic shave, and really interesting razor! Still waiting on my 1958 Gillette Fatboy and razor caddy to arrive... the anticipation.Just saw Ant-Man 2 with dad yesterday and wow it was funny and had some happy moments. That post credit scene though, that explains a lot. Looking forward to more awesome shaves and hopefully you can find that Blade Brisk aftershave. It's odd your CVS didn't carry it, or it maybe it was out of stock.
Kensurfs awesome and I do hope you like it. I did notice the ingredients are a tad different. The Blade one has Castor oil and I didn't see that on the Skin Bracer. I've heard the Castor oil is really good for the skin and it does good for me. Also when I put on the Blade, it does make my eyes water and it gives you a burn.
Hi kensurfs! I've just got into wet shaving (about a month now) I don't have a great razor yet. I have a Qshave 3 piece on order and a murker adjustable clone also from Qshave on order. I'm still looking around. can you recommend a good shaver? and possibly a good DE razor? I would appreciate it greatly. huge fan. your video are the only ones I watch.
Hey gentleman, thanks for your efforts Lately I’ve been watching you channel: AMAZING ! Alright so can you do a video talking about your favorite razor,blade,brush..etc And also are you going to review Hone razors ? Thanks
BigTexFyre Thank you very much👍👍💈💈
Ken, I was scared to use a single safety razor but enjoy your videos helped me get over the fear of a single blade. Love the content!

Wow man up take your time when using a safety razor

You, PaulH, and Nick shaves are the only ones I watch. I've been waiting for this review.
Bj Cundiff Awesome, Thank you. I have a few razors and brushes lined up next👍
Hello Ken. Barbus is made in Slovakia. Interesting razor and I saw it in Target one day. Oh, and if you want heat and humidity, come to Houston....take care and have a good week!
Tim Omick You have the World Series champs there and my favorite baseball pitcher 👍💈

I saw Bevel razors being sold at target here in Seattle.
9897samf here in Utah as well, but it's in the men's clothing section rather than the shaving section... Strange
9897samf Awesome. What was the price?👍💈
Around $50 I think

I am very pleased to see you give the Bevel a try. This is one of the few times I can actually hang with you since I have this razor in my collection!
#1. (All of the following are "in my opinion"), On the subject of Bevel's Blades: they are exceptionally smooth and a equal to ANY brand of blade. I have yet to find a razor they do not work well with and with the Bevel DE Razor is a virtually perfect fit.

Armertron how good is the brush? 👍💈
Kensurfs since it is my first and only brush, I have no comparison, but it feels nice ( could be softer but might just need to be broken in)

Give me that comfortable feeling that reminds me of a butter knife yet my beard disappears like a sniper does into the bush when they are on a stalk.
Stephen Davidson Lol...Awesome Stephen👍💈
I cannot help but picture you as James Bond... lmao.. Cool video.
job Awesome, Thank you very much👍💈
Looks like a good shave.
Jill Snoddon Thank you👍💈

Very nice looking razor, and great shave as always. BTW, I'm starting to believe in boar brushes again. Just got a Semogue Excelsior 830. Will be making some videos as I break it in.
Martin O The Classic Shaver It will take a few times to break in for sure👍💈
Nice shave Ken.
Warren Burch Thanks Warren👍💈
The next time I use this I will use the blade that came with it and see if it makes a difference to me. I hope it does cause I really want to like this razor.
Bj Cundiff 👍👍
The Czech Republic and Slovakia where the shaving products line is manufacture by "HERBA" the same company that also makes the Great Alpa shaving cream
Steven Sprague Awesome👍💈
Steven Sprague , interesting to know, thanks. ALPA makes some great smelling, "old school" type Aftershave splashes for low prices. 👍🏼
Patrick Eruimy 👍👍💈💈
Alpa, a.s. and Herba Drug Ltd. are two different companies, really. Alpa is a Czech bran and Herba is a Slovak brand, at least currently:
www.alpa.cz/en/contact
herbadrug.sk/kontakt/ (no English version, you might have to use Google Translate or something similar)
Herba bought the Barbus line and other products from deMiclén Levice (also a Slovak Brand). Source: herbadrug.sk/o-nas/
I really like the Barbus croap (the one that comes in a 150ml tub). Inexpensive, good performer, fairly clean ingredients.
Although for a quick shave, I just tend to use a plain soap bar and a mild razor.
Clubman...LOL....all the old white guys must of wanted you to bring it back....LOL....Great video, really enjoyed it.
Love your stuff Ken here in Montreal.
Love to know where I can get one of those skulls you have for the brush.
george karabatsos eBay “crystal skull candle holder”
I am looking for the best double edge razor to shave my head and face both, do you recommend anything in particular? I have been using Straight Razors but as I get older I get too lazy to sharpen them and I have had bad experiences with shavette type razors. My favorite was a 5/8 Wedge Butcher & Wade.
If you get an adjustable, you can dial it in for both face and head shaves
Nice shave Ken, have a good rest of the weekend💈👍
Crispin Munoz Thank you, you too👍💈
It was a 116°F a few days back here in DXB... But real feel was more like 122°F. CRAZY!!
Jeofrey Pereira Wow that’s hot👍💈
Thank you for educating.
Jayakrishna Bhat Thank you👍💈
Another excellent shave video! Thanks for introducing us to all these great products I am a big fan/proponent of boar brushes particularly the Semogue I would love to be able to offer them in my store but haven't had any luck finding away to get them direct i.e. wholesale the last time I checked their website it was pretty broken.
Robert Justice It would be cool if you got a hold of them to sell in your dite👍💈
Rajan Sharma I have done a few reviews of the 37c. I’ll try to use it again soon. It’s s great razor👍💈
I love my bevel. But the blades cut me every time. So I stick with my normal blades I’ve been using for a while
👍💈
Nice lookin shaver! And Clubman!
TShull Thank you👍💈
Very nice Ken.
Edison Filho Thank you👍💈
Awesome man, thanks for do the review on it.
Bj Cundiff Thanks for Watching 👍💈
nice shave!
Gregory B Thank you👍💈
I've been using a feather popular about once a week for the past 5 years. It recently has started crapping out on me (well worth the $14 i paid for it) I'm really wanting to get a razor that would suit my sensitive skin a bit better, and was wondering if this is the one I should get? Im also considering the merkur progress 510 and merkur 34c
Jimbo Packin 👍👍💈💈
awesome video as always
pkj77 Thank you. The razor was awesome👍💈
I'm hooked!
Mark Mitchell Thank you👍💈
The Bevel is a nice looking razor.
Thanks for sharing the review, Ken!
The Spectre Thank you very much👍💈
Hi Ken, greetings from England.
Kind regards
Chris
Chris Chandler I’ll look Chris👍💈
Dont know about the modern versions but the barbus classic is manafactured in slovakia it is also mostly handmade to preserve the originallity and be the same as it was a few decades ago just a small interesting fact
Do you recommend the safety razor for people who really don't grow a lot of facial hair and would you recommend it for bald heads?
You gotta try out the LEA Mentholed shaving cream it's really cheap and it performs really good Ken!
one D E P R E S S E D boy I’ll have to look👍💈
Really enjoy your videos Ken,my Wife is even getting on board and watching some shave channels but isn't gonna try wet shaving.lol Long Live your channel.👍
Troy Jenkins Thanks Troy, my wife won’t try the Wetshaving either 👍💈
Just found your channel. 👌👍👏. Definitely subscribed and thumps up.
Thank you very much
In the next shave why don't you use the 830 brush
Joy Ghosh I have a few new brushes to try first👍💈
Hi. How many times would you use a Gillette disposable razor before you toss it? Vs. a double edged razor? Sorry if you have answered the question before. Thanks.
Awesome video thanks!
If you had to pick 3 of all ur razors that you had to use everyday witch ones would you choose
Jeremy Ferguson Merkur 34C, Merkur Progress, Rockwell 6S
Hey kensurfs! Big fan of your videos! Would love to see a review on the Edwin Jagger DE89.
James Simon I’ll have to pick one up👍💈
James Simon, the EJ DE 89 is not spectacular.
Patrick Eruimy Thanks Patrick👍💈
James Simon For sensitive skin the DE89 with a good blade is great!
I absolutely adore my 1305. I mean adore it!!
You take shaving seriously!! 😮 Cool!
Could you tell me what those 1-2 3-4 number on some razor blades are for?
Thanks!
Alejandro Casas Quality control. A full answer can be found here. www.badgerandblade.com/forum/wiki/Numbers_on_the_DE_Blade
Nice shave ken👍
Alex1998 Thanks Alex👍💈
Amazing cool design
Hey Ken, just a suggestion, maybe start putting links to everything you use in each video in the bio below!
WoWoRific I usually do but I’ll try harder👍👍💈
How much do you spend per month buying shaving paraphernalia?
Saint Guardian I have both and the Bevel edges out the van see Hagen in my opinion👍
Hey Ken, which would you suggest as far as a safety razor, brush, and shave cream for someone with very sensitive skin? Trying to get into the game from cartridge razors and want the info from the best!!
Matthew Isherwood Merkur 34C, Proraso white shave cream, synthetic brush
@@kensurfs Thanks for the info!! I really appreciate it and the videos!! Keep up the good work!!

The_Cutting_Edge I just bought some off eBay 👍💈
Kensurfs awesome and I do hope you like it. I did notice the ingredients are a tad different. The Blade one has Castor oil and I didn't see that on the Skin Bracer. I've heard the Castor oil is really good for the skin and it does good for me. Also when I put on the Blade, it does make my eyes water and it gives you a burn.
The_Cutting_Edge 👍👍💈
How cool, more Yaqi brushes! Nice razor.
Jill Snoddon Thanks Jill👍💈
Very nice design razor, if it was a radio it would be B & O
Robert Ristinge 👍👍💈
Hey Ken how are you? If you get a chance can you look into these Razors please⬇️
Baxter of California and Blackwood and Shelby..
Thank you
Hi kensurfs!
Isaac Vang Merkur 34C will do for years
@@kensurfs thank you. I will look into it straight away.
Hey gentleman, thanks for your efforts
