So true regarding just a downpipe for the MK7 GTI. As a 3 year owner of my 2015, I have to say, the stupid amount of money spent on different exhaust variations versus having just purchased a quality downpipe from the get go stands as the biggest frustration I had early on. Beginning with a custom 400$ axle back aka stainless piping with nice tips so therefore deleting the muffler, only caused the car to sound good on startup. Trash afterward. Then, on the same setup, I thought res delete. This resulted in further dissatisfaction, except now I didn't even have my stock catback to utilize anymore. Long story short, after having most recently had a catless downpipe and some version close to just a basic resonated catback, I finally got it right, with a catted USP downpipe on a stock catback. Shit I wish I knew from the get go, but my past Volkswagens were different. All in all, totally agree with you🍻🇩🇪

But now I know from a person that has experienced it all, that just a downpipe is gonna do the job. I just want the car to be a little louder, and make some pops and bangs. So now I know a downpipe is the way to go, but know the question is which downpipes should I get. Thanks for all the help from the videos, keep making great content.
To everyone doubting him, I just installed a catless downpipe tonight with a muffler delete, sounds like a slightly better Honda and is at least 4 times louder than the car is with just a muffler delete. Already regret not putting my muffler back on before the install
@@chrisvera841 If you have an accesport I’d recommend getting EQTs off the shelf tune, stage 2 should put you in a good place with an intake and a Downpipe

Hm. Downpipe with stock exhaust is the way I'm leaning towards. Enjoying your content 👍
Thanks for watching Arun!!
Thinking about buying downpipe but how will it sound with just stock mufflers?
lol wasn't that what this entire video was about haha
Is it a catted or catless downpipe?
Catless downpipe and stock exhaust set up is what I have. It sounds pretty good. Damn thing is too easy to install. Took like an hour for me
So true!! Thanks for watching!
Did you have to tune out a cel?
Your set up sounds great!
Thanks brother! And thanks for watching!!
We have something in common, S2k's and Golf GTI's/R's.
I've had my S2k for a decade and it's time to move on.. I LOVE it but I'm not getting any younger and need something more practical.
Nice Vid mate. I'm stuck in between a MK6 R or a MK7 GTI.
Your thoughts?
So glad your keeping that mk7 gti life going!
Thanks for watching and commenting David!!
What downpipe do you have? Was it the downpipe alone that gave you the crackles and pops or your ECS tune?
Apr and yes down pipe and toon alone will get you exactly what’s in this video
@@Russellscottx thanks, it sounds amazing. I'm looking to get some pips and crackles out of my GTI too, I love how yours sounds.
Jack McDonald yeah definitely worth it and plus you get the tune for free when you buy the apr down pipe! Hit me up on Instagram when you get it and let me know how it goes!
@@Russellscottx wow, I had no idea the tune came with the downpipe, that's awesome!
Will a catted downpipe and awe track exhaust make it sound good with some pops? Thanks
What size downpipe? Cated or catless?
Those pops are magical
MedicMagical haha Thanks for watching Joel!!
Do you need a tune with the downpipe or will it be fine on the stock tune?
You’ll get a check engine light but I don’t think it’ll hurt anything...it’s just because the downpipe has the o2 sensor in a different spot
@@Russellscottx Ok, thanks. Is that something that can be tuned out?
Yup tune fixes it
Love all your videos. Reflex silver gang I have the same one and 2015. I do have a muffler and resonator delete with stock downpipe and to be honest it’s pretty deep tone.. deeper than Borla S-Type catback. But.. once I get the downpipe that may be an issue because it’ll be too loud so watching your videos I might get a resonator but ima have to see. Also did you get your clutch issue resolved? I’m getting mine soon.. you could always resort to a shop here in Northern Maryland area besides a dealer.
Thanks for watching Andrew!! And I still have the stock clutch trying to weigh out my options before it completely gives up the ghost!
MedicMagic Anytime! Your videos are great. I’m always looking for new things I could do with mine after watching your vids. But ohh okay I gotchu. I picked up the Southbend stage 2 endurance kit from a local dealer here and I’m having it installed tomorrow actually for a really good deal. I forgot how much power you’re making currently but the clutch that I got is $1440 originally but on ECS it’s $1296 currently, I think I’ve actually heard that MAPerformance may give you a better deal if you speak to one of their reps there.. apparently they’re great people, so who knows, you may get a couple hundred off the sale $1296 price! Not sure how long the sale will last so I’d say act fast!
So in this video does you car have stock muffler and just downpipe?
Yes!!
That’s what I’m thinking for my 2018 Golf R Manual, down pipe and tune.
That's all you need! Thanks for watching!!
And clutch lol
This man speaks the truth.
But isn't a 3in downpipe into the stock catback which I'm assuming is 2in or 2.5in considered "bad"?
Lol it might be! Thanks for watching!
So would you recommend a downpipe over straight pipe
Yes! Thnaks for watching John!
Are those pops from a tune or just from the downpipe?
Both
Ok nice! I was thinking of getting the catted deporacing downpipe. Do you know anything about that one?
car sounds gooood! keep it up g
Thanks Sarkis!! And thanks for watching the video!
What’s your opinion on down pipe valuations? I’m looking at a Unitronic DP and MAPerformance DP. (For a mk7 R)
Better question. Is a DP a part you can cheap out on?
Hmm i can only speak for apr and how good it is! Thanks for watching!
Where would someone buy an apr down pipe, intake, and the tune now?
I gotta get my self a downpipe. I’ve waited too long.
Yes...yes you do!! lol
The downpipe isn't listed on the ecs site you posted. Do you have a link for the down pipe it self?
What's your decibel at idle and max rev; do they comply with legal standards?
Its sounds amazing! I might do it for my mk7! Love your content
Thanks so much! Definitely do it and thanks for watching!!
Car sounds great, man!
Thanks Adam and thanks for watching!!
I am going to buy a scorpion downpipe catted will i need a stage 1? cause i personally dont want to do it.. thanks
