Just picked up a 04 Neon R/T few weeks ago. Pretty much rebuilding it bumper to bumper because I love that car. Super easy is accurate, I can do the timing belt and water pump in one hour now, got it down to a science. I didn't know about the throttle bodies being different sizes like that. Interesting. I see that your motor is very snappy with the throttle. Mine doesn't do that and it's sluggish in first gear, well all gears. Haven't driven a RT in many years and I'm used to my neck breaking v8 in my Dakota which is super snappy.
Yeah I would think the 04 RT would perform fairly well. Better than mine I would think. I wonder if the actuator for the intake is stuck one way. I have an RT intake that I plan to use on one of my other neons but I've yet to experience how that actuator works. The 2G RT should be the ultimate form of the 2.0 single cam engine. Stock for stock that is.
Looks like I need too change my intake manifold. Cuz I have the other style and intake manifold for the 2002 Dodge neon n from my studies they do not have a aftermarket style throttle body, or any support around that area 😔
So I actually changed to a 2nd gen intake after this vid. The 2nd gen intake flows better. So you would only loose power with a first gen intake. A Magnum intake from a 2nd gen RT would be an upgrade tho.
