kachow Thanks again everyone for your patience, what was mean to be a quick review turned into a month long passion project. BIG ups to the patreon elites! www.patreon.com/ManleyReviews
The coolest part I remember playing years ago was that if the police don’t have a description of your car and you drive at like 20mph, you won’t trigger a police chase even if the cop is right next to you.
I remember testing to see how fast you had to be going for the cop to chase you and if i remember correctly it was below 60mph they wouldn't chase you. The times i just drove around like ai and the fun of a cop rear-ending you not in a chase, which if you stopped in front of them enough times they would disable their vehicle and you would get points for it.
I'm proud to say I worked on this game. 8 months of 70 hour work weeks that nearly cost me my sanity. Edit: I honestly can't believe all the positive responses and thank yous. I figured I'd give a few more details for those interested. I hope not to disillusion anyone, but I was just a QA Lead for the gameplay section. I was mostly in charge of the enemy AI as well as the difficulty. To this day, it was the funnest game I worked on while at EA/Blackbox, even if it was incredibly intense. We had a QA/Dev team of over 100, and at the time, everyone was super passionate to be working on the newest NFS game and on the latest console generation. Coming to work with so many like minded people truly felt like working with family in the best way possible. Thank you to all those who say this game has had such a positive effect on their childhood and for anyone who remembered it fondly from any memory.
Fun Fact: There are actually unused Voicelines of Cops gargling on blood after being hit, frantically calling for an ambulance and even calling out that there has been multiple casualties. Obviously these weren't used but I still think it's funny how the newer titles like Heat are all like: "Our storyline should make the cops the evil ones, to justify the player street racing!" and in MW it's like: "Wouldn't it be rad if you could hear the cops bleeding out over the radio?" "Yeah that would be sick." Really shows how times have changed.
Well here is a surprising thing It is not unused, it’s actually really rare to trigger it, I have a friend that told me that once he played it he heard those lines and he was shocked, so shocked that he paused the game and tried to process what just happened, but I guess you can still call it uncut, or an Easter egg but you can trigger it, it’s just hard to do
i aint mexican im puertorican, i was laughing my ass off brooooooo what a great joke man, that shit had me dying, good job Edit: imma show this to my mexican friends lmaooo
This game was such a masterpiece. It’s funny how every conventional NFS since Most Wanted 2005 has called back to this game, and it is STILL talked about it 18 years later…yet every studio that has worked on a NFS since has refused to make a proper sequel/remake despite the ravenous fanbase and constant callbacks that historically bring in money.
Try working with EA. I think Blackbox worked on Underground 1 and 2, almost Wanted, Carbon, Undercover and maybe Prostreet idr. Churning out that many games in that amount of time the early 2000s must have been hard as hell. Same like what they did to Ghost in the late 2010s
Hey. About what Mia said when you first race Razor. "Wait until he shifts first." , means, because of how difficult it is to launch a powerful Rear Wheel Drive car. If you haven't practiced & memorized the amount of throttle, RPMs, and the top-speed of 1st-gear. Then you're just going to be doing a rolling burnout, wasting time, energy, and tires. And even if you are perfect at launching, and mastering the grip of your rear tires, to accelerate as quick as possible with little to no slip. If you are launching from a startline with a rival car just as strong as yours. Unless you have an ignition or sparkcut quickshifter system, like a high-end sportbike, for open throttle up-shifts without disengaging the clutch. Then shifting gears with the clutch, will cause a major delay in your acceleration. Even more so if you have H-pattern instead of a sequential shifter, and don't have a short-throw shifter linkage on top of that. This is how some Elecric Vehicles like performance Teslas & Rimacs are so unbeatable launching from a dig (dead stop). They don't need a multi-speed transmission. Electric motors, with their instant torque, can seamlessly accelerate from a dig, all the way up to when the back EMF inside them, starts limiting their torque, rate of acceleration and top speed. But engines can't do that. They have a minimum speed, below which their power really bogs down, or the engine just stalls. This is why engines need multiple gear ratios to get the most out of them, with their limited useful RPM range. Electric motors accelerate smoothly, but engines that don't use a fragile CVT, accelerate in steps, because of shifting between strong gears, that each exchange torque for more RPMs, so you can go faster, with the same limited engine speed. ....And if someone, just as strong as you, was to launch with you, but bounce off the rev-limiter a second or 2, waiting for you to shift. Then the acceleration delay of you shifting from 1st to 2nd, could be enough for them to get ahead of you a decent amount. Maybe enough to even get ahead of and block you, while you're struggling with the traction issues of launching out of 1st gear. All this is what Mia meant, when she tells you, as the player, to wait for Razor to shift first. She's giving you a tip, that may help you get ahead of him, immediately.
Oh! I have my own tip. I learned this by myself. When ramming a roadblock, tap your brakes just before impact, to transfer weight forward on the suspension. This will help keep your noise down after the hit, so it dosen't pop you into the air, and make you vulnerable. And just like with real life, when ramming through carjackers (or cops). Aim for the side of the tail, to make it easier to punch through. Because the engine weight upfront, will make the nose harder to move. This is true with Heat Levels 1 to 3, and I think SUVs. But Corvettes are 50:50 weight distribution, so in game, you can hit any part of their side. Hiting their door area, will flip them over you. Hitting their ends will spin them so much, they may hit your side. And something really messed up. ...If you catch a traffic car stopped at a roadblock. Ramming the civilian into the roadblock, somehow amplifies the devistation on the roadblock. And as always, avoid hitting any road block cop car who's side is not presented to you. Choppers too. For some reason, they're very unmovable in that orientation.
I always tought it was because Razor is driving a Mustang which is notorious for losing control during a launch (see every car show exit ever), so waiting for him to shift first when he's "rolling a lot of power" is because Mia tought Razor would lose control of the car imediatelly and could slam into the player's car, so if the player waited he could just watch Razor wreck by himself.
What? Did you just make all that up? I definitely don't wait for someone else to shift first when I'm drag racing. I shift as soon as I hit the optimal RPM to shift at to maximize average horsepower. It also doesn't take long to shift a regular H-pattern transmission, I can shift mine in about 250 ms, that's not a number I made up, I used HP Tuners to time myself.
When my brother and I got a Gamecube this was one of the games we got. My dad never cared for video games and thought they were childish. But when he saw this adrenalin rush of a game, he sat down and played it for HOURS. He would come home after work just to play.
HAd the gamecube version too, did the final pursuit work on it, don't know if it was my copy , but it would let me beat the final boss then it would crash :( edit: judging by the five likes I guess the european gamecube version cannot be beaten? I guess you can unlock the BMW though,
@@vista1456786some European port game come with unfinished or glitches but most of it are japanese port game never know if western game have same fate
@@DeadSpacedOut He use to tell us the rush he got from playing NFS was something he never experienced before which was why he would grind on it. Don't think he touched any other video game but NFS MW that I know of, but I guess grinding on one game still counts as a real gamer then never grinding at all.
Probably one of my personal memorable moments with this game was during one of the chases: Long running chase on heat level 4, all the cop cars are down but the chopper is still on my ass. Backup is going to be on their way soon and I knew I wasn't going to survive another round with them. I go into a tunnel on the highway and overhear the chopper say "He went through the tunnel, I'll meet him on the other side" which triggers the lightbulb in my head to do a U-turn inside of it. Lo and behold the chopper actually did go to the other side which allowed me to successfully get away. It's simple in retrospect but in the heat of the moment I felt amazing. So cool that the player can get rewarded for paying close attention to audio cues like that.
Fun fact about this game; Cross' actor's son was the first one to ever play this game. He pointed out glitches and flaws the devs fixed up. Razor's actor drives a Prius. That's no joke, either. He said so in an interview 2 years ago
@@jyster18 ah dude just google them. You should watch the interviews they've been in, especially newer ones to see what the actors are up to nowadays. It's really cool. Those guys are down to earth
28:03 is just something i absolutely loved and still love doing when i play this. Nothing gives you that feeling of just blowing through gears while emptying a full tank of nitrous in a maxed upgraded car. It literally does not matter what the car is either, they all sound epic (the db9 is a personal favourite maxed out when doing this)
It's funny because I think the editing has been amazing from the get go and the timing and content of the humor actually is hitting less with me now 🤣 Edit: okay I finally finished the whole thing and laughed my ass off several moments. Some of the broken sentence timing feels a bit too exaggerated to me but overall this is a massive improvement and I'm blown away
[14:30] This is actually a really compelling point I haven't really thought about before. A lot of modern _Need for Speed_ games have often been trying to recontexualize the relationship between street racers and the police, either by having some form of corruption in the police force (like in _Payback_ and _Heat,_ for example) or showing how racers and cops going to further and further lengths to antagonize each other could be dangerous (like in _Rivals_ or the _Hot Pursuit_ reboot). While I personally don't mind them trying to explore these ideas to tell different kinds of stories, it feels like it's been quite a while since we had a cop-focused NFS game where we're _indisputably_ the bad guy. I can't help but wonder why that is, a change in direction perhaps?
Thanks for pointing that out, I wish i expanded on that idea more because anti heros often make for more compelling gameplay in a way that makes everything appeal so much more authentic and visceral.
Yeah I've never understood the latest NFS plotlines antagonizing the police force. Like we're literally running into people and trashing the streets, but some of the games make it look like the state are strictly the bad guys. Either take an antagonistic MC approach like Most Wanted and Carbon or a two-sided coin approach like Rivals. Unbound tries way too hard to make the MC look heroic and relatable, but it comes off as shallow and makes no sense. Or just have no plot at all.
What's your favorite Need for Speed game? For me it's got to be Underground 2 for PS2/Xbox and Hot Pursuit 3 for the PS1, b/c of all the memories playing it as a kid. I also really liked Burnout 3, Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition, GT2 and GT4.
Having had street racers go around for many nights around midnight and early into the morning for multiple months now, I can't see how they're the ""good guys"" in any way. They deserve the law in full force.
Dude, you nailed every point. This game shaped me musically, I remember having my mom spell out "Decadence" for me while I pulled up UA-cam to try and listen to this at 5 years old. I've got thousands, upon thousands of hours in this game as it helped me escape from my poor and hallow home life. This game will always be in my heart, and I try to beat it once every few years for nostalgia.
Even though I saw a ton of NFSMW videos, it amazes me how the game left clues that Mia was an undercover cop and I never picked up on them when I was younger: 1) a call where Cross says "if you're wondering how I got your number, let's just say... NOT EVERYONE OUT THERE IS YOUR FRIEND." 2) how Mia gives you access to the rap sheet by using Cross' login and password 3) and the friggin police line that says "we got a racer here - SHE claims to be an undercover operator" Maybe I was too busy running away from police Corvettes to pay attention. No wonder people love this game.
I completed this game more than 10 times and I missed every hint of that, mostly due to the fact that most of those time I was too young and didn't know proper English lol
Yeah so the dead giveaway should've been the fact that she picks you up in front of the police station after Cross arrests you...loudly revs in front of the cops...takes off tires squeeling and nobody pursued. Lol. Fucking narc
@@ManleyReviews For me it was NFS Underground, but Most Wanted definitely kicked it into top gear. The music thing too, the soundtrack for this game slapped.
for me it was carbon, i didnt have pc back then and one of the kyle's in school library decided to install carbon that was first game i played, then when i finally got pc my friends older brother had most wanted and lended me the disc and i fell in love with that game
i had a police chase loop hole in this game where there is a circular area in a map and if you just keep driving in circle no matter how high the heat is they never catch you
This game and Burnout Revenge were the perfect examples of that mid-2000s emo craze being carried into gaming. They were loud, angry, and still so much fun. Blackbox and Criterion made two very special masterpieces.
My fucking childhood right there. So happy to have grown up playing these games compared to what people grow up on these days. Such an amazing era for gaming! Still class most wanted as one of my favourites of all time, despite not playing it much now I’m older. Nevertheless, it will always have a special place in my heart. I think I’m gonna have to re-download this and go on a trip down memory lane.
@BertoBoi exactly!!!! Like dude I prayed too god!!!! That someone out there or EA would wake up and atleast remake need for speed or make a game that match need for speed most wanted 2 and I would love a new burn out game half of these companies aren't the same anymore they aren't putting there passion into the games they make like they used too sadly RIP blackbox one of if only the best game developers that know what they where doing respectfully it felt like an end of an era it hurts tbh 😔💔
My dad still says he wishes he could burnout the people in front of him when there's slow drivers lol, that's the only game I could ever get him to play
I've completed this game several times without being caught and the secret for me was, taking all my pursuits to the freeways. There are two major freeways in the game, so normally I'd just go round and round until I hit my milestones that's when I'd enter back to the cities, to kill pursuits since there are more pursuit breakers in them. The final point of the game is actually easy to find, it's on the Rosewood Freeway near the stadium 😂, just get yourself to that highway and you're good. I've put many hours into this game so I know it inside out. Nice Review, laughed my ass out the entire time
Awesome review. And thanks for highlighting the fact that this game's main character was *literally using a racing car to win street races.* How he smuggled one out of BMW's hands still puzzles me to this day, but alas.
Im 28, about to be 29 this year and i still remember this game vividly. I played it and beaten it 3 times over the course of 15 years and id still play it again if it was remastered. One of the most thrilling games i have ever played
You've only beat it 3 times? I've only ever had this game for 6 months before I lost my pc and I beat it uncountable times (i even beat razor with a maxed out punto 🤣🤣) or I used black list 2's own car
I don't think I've ever had the same level of heart-pounding suspense as watching the cooldown timer after a long ass police chase hiding on a baseball field and hoping the cop on the road next to the arena can't see me
I keep coming back to this video every once in a while. So happy that someone used Celldweller's One Good Reason in their review. Arguably the heaviest track in the entire game.
This and Burnout 3 Takedown have incredible soundtracks, insane feelings of speed, and absolute…unbridled FUN. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to
@@WH250398 idk man something about nfs carbons drifting was very addicting. rest of the game was trash but i just cheated for all the maps and cars and me and my friends would try to make the best car for drifting and try to get the highest scores we could. i think most we hit was 2.5 million points
You’ve done a great job including juuuust the right amount of references for car guys to get and laugh at, but not too many that regular gamers are left confused/left out of the humor, which I really appreciate. Awesome video!
I see very few people mantion this, but the games opening is so strong as it acts as a tutorial in disguise (to get used to the game) by handing you the car mascot of the game. And then it gives you all the sidequests afterwards. Its so good
How Manley doesn't have a million subs by now is beyond me. His production value is through the roof. Well done, NFS MW is by far my favorite racing game and it got the retrospective it deserved.
this game will never die. no matter how much time passes ill always find time to give it a playthrough with different mods or even vanilla. such a good game
Carbon was kinda like this. It was actually a direct sequel. You even team up with Cross (who became a bounty hunter, which makes way more sense) at the end of the game. Not to mention I remember it being properly hard. The only issue was it got rid of the amazing cop chases. But it replaced them with some seriously good canyon races.
3:54 This is a small detail but a very notable one, Manley gently highlights the names of the people that have donated to his patreon on the backboard by making it not blurry for a few seconds. He didn’t need to do this whatsoever, I’m sure a lot of people would or have glossed over this. But it really shows how much he appreciates his audience. You’re the man, Manley. 🤘🏼🤘🏼 Also, awesome video. One of my favorite racing games of all time.
holy crap you noticed that! I felt bad as I didn't use the main cam in this one much, the footage i recorded there didn't really make the cut so i had to over dub it. wanted to still feature the wall of gamers. I might also start just adding them into the videos as text as well.
Now that you mentioned it Gabe McCastle, it caught my subconscious eye. Naturally glancing and felt natural when it blurs, pausing to read commments right before he mentions the wall after glancing at the 3:54 mark. Been a.d.d/a.d.h.d your videos really capture my mind past present and future with the nostalgia, colors, jokes, memes and the "Goofy cutaways." Hes absolutely right on the soundtrack, its totally metal/nu metal/hip hop trance mixture really gets the raw wreckleness into the vibe. Another great highly informative and interesting/entertaining video. Keep up the great work, its highly appreciated. Thank you Manley Reviews, for the deep dive review. Expecially the BMW cheat flex in competition. DId wonder why this car in game sounded absolutely unique and had seen nothing else like it. Peace bo.
I can't even begin to explain why 15:38 is the perfect visual representation of what it was like to play this game. It's just...beautifully accurate editing. A masterpiece even.
100 and I'm guilty of this AF. I even remember shedding a tear once over how excited and how much fun I was having after I was outrunning the cops from a level 5 pursuit that was about to pass the 1 hour mark.
Never seen your channel before, but this review made me sub as it hit the nail on the head so damn hard. I was 12 when this game came out and I still view it as one of the best gaming experiences I have had to date. I remember the anticipation of going into the store with my mother and father to pick up my black edition copy on launch day, and not being let down a single bit, something game developers and publishers alike have failed to do for nearly the past 2 decades now with a few small exceptions such as the Uncharted series and Far Cry 4 and 5.
Mark my words, this channel will be one of the biggest gaming/entertainment channels in a few years. This guy is one of the few who is both genuinely funny and able to create high quality content. Hats off, you are an inspiration and beacon of hope for the future of comedic video game content.
This channel is weirdly perfectly tailored to me. I'm a mechanic so I'm a car and racing nerd, I'm a metalhead who wears beanies and plays guitar and I became an anorexic Linkin Park fan in 2006. Understanding most of the jokes and references made me way too happy.
funny cuz ima metalhead that have a garage band not famous we started not long ago, but me and my band loves these songs too, and we might not go fast we like to cause mayhem by making most ridiculous looking cars, like a a double engine car where the 2 engines split in half, and built back together as a singular engine, causing too much engine shake the frame of the car shakes along with, and we cant use the hood so we basically made a idle monster that uses turbos that cases engine sound so powerful u cant hear the vehicle's speakers and rubber from tires burning, we made where it have 12 exhaust pipes 6 on each side of hood, 6 on each side of car doors, huge tires in rear, lastly a special made exhauust tips that look like barrels from a minigun, it's a muscle car with a blower and yes i said twin turbo, we hyper turbo the thing it's undrive able, we gave the vehicle special paint job where, it looks like it was paint sraped attentionally of course, and get a sticker of our future band called Most Wanted Nebula, we got no video like said we not famous we not sure if we going to contine to be a garage band we have plans onto but still not sure, we have a drummer (friend of mine), a singer (me, Briar Hex), guitarist (Storm), bassist (Hecate), and an extra member which havent been told abt the gender, but they are a back up singer with a beautiful voice with the touchy style of notes of our songs we make (name: L. Solice), not giving full name just 1st initial, (those our pseudonyms names/ or simply put stage names, goth names), we dont like or real names, we're really known as rejects to specific ppl, but we made a comeback and no we're not the band: (all american rejects), dont confuse us for them, we're young, loud, crazy, insane ad love to party for the devil, we dont believe in him, but we party like him as a way of level to explain, we have plans where in the future if we do become and is or are succussful, we will help those in our country, deliver messages, that are meaningful in our songs, but when it comes to the band itself, we have our own unique taste for our personal style, but enough said if you want to represent us get any t shirt v neck, grey, black, white, no images, get holloween fake blood and soak the shirt in it, cuz it's a cheap style we go for it's our practice shirts, that and if u wanna look like us go for unique hair styles color black majority of the time, on ocasion white solid thick white for celebraition or to honor those, dark grey to black tight skinny jeans ripped with chains and belt, or solid black baggy jeans, with chains and cool logo of any type, we recommend no custom eye colors for those cosplayers, unless you using natural eye colors to represent ur fav band member mine is golden hazel, our hair styles are goth based, long hair on a side shaved on other, long hair on one side (shoulder legnth) shorter on other side but fairly long, grab longest side place over closest eye, basic messy hair same length on both sides shoulder legnth in that matter, wolfcut, aka messy long hair looks wet but messy (really it appears wet but its dry), or the original wolfcut, 1 specific band member have red hair, our back up singer, we will give out info once we have the real attire ready we got the jeans for any gender, but we working on seperate gender clothes to like skirts, baggy skater shorts, main issue is tops, we got 1 specific for females latex tube top with studs spikes, and stitches, but we got 1 for males not rlly impressive atm but it will do for now, leather jacket, says nebula with small portion having a image of the nebula, or galaxy, with a dagger matted in blood and fist holding it, we might change that portion we uunsure if we like it me personally, we might go for our faces on the back below word nebula, our brev. is: M.W.N; for the special affects and plans we might use sprinklers to sprinkle fake blood, fire, and red screens, alot of red themed stuff for stage, hope u wear reflect material that shines afterwards, somethn special will work with that, cuz we plan on someday do a special event for our bad to celebrate to be successful, during night, lastly ladies, if u dont want anything ruined stay in far back away from blood sprinklers, so ur makeup dont get ruined same with the clothes/merch, and as for now rock on party, show our inspirors' some love our inspirors' are: I.C.P., Nebulesse, Theory Of A Deadman, Disturbed, HELLYEAH, Steven Rodriguez, Pantera, Evanescene, Godsmack, Buckcherry, Saving Abel, Avenged Sevenfold, Scorpions; A few non metal bands: Black Pink, T.L.C; A few UA-camrs: (Numb$kull, Sir Silly, PYRXCRIED, Live Solum, Corpse, Lollia, ThatsKramer, and sickick; We also have the final few we listen to a few others for diversity; (Venus, Billie Eilish, Joan Jett, Uncle Kracker, Eminem, Shiki TMNS, Mary J. Blige, Twisted Sister, and for our most favs. the 2 and only youtubers, (FlameKnight7, Raeinaire); thank you for reading this and you are able to rock on!!!!!❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bro that game was my entire childhood, i remember playing it with my uncle for hours and hours, sadly his cousin throwing our ps2 into her closet and it was unusable because the ps2 was literally shattered. At least i get to keep the memories of this amazing racing game that not only was one of the BEST gaming experiences i've ever had but i also learned english by playing it.
Something to note about the police radio- sometimes they'll _realize_ you have a scanner and "correct" what side the spike strip is on to try and trick you. I've also heard them stumble over their words and mix up a couple locations.
Honestly this is what is missing with police pursuit. I miss when cops sound professional not always making jokes and insults. I mean job is stressful and i get jokes meant to destress but it gets boring hearing the same oh this moron is flying or hey the idiot crash for thousand time. I want something like being told when next roadblock is coming and no jokes about tyres being pop with spikes and them attempting to pit or ram or box in. I don't understand why they cant borrow the system from this game ideas and use proper terminology and professionalism.
Saw IHs Harold on a thumbnail, was confused why he may be making a video on MW05, discovered it was not him, discovered it was a fucking incredible video essay on one of my favorite games, by a pretty awesome dude, 100% not dissapointed.
Fun fact: the police radio in Most Wanted can report your vehicle as a Nissan if you were driving one, despite the brand nor any of their vehicles being featured in the final product (unless you use mods) due to EA having a licensing issue with the brand until NFS: Carbon, which brought those audio files over when Nissans were featured in that game.
Man This game is the only connection I have left of a good old friend who passed away, the way you portrayed this game is exactly how I remember us playing. Thanks for this .
27:30 The saddest part is that the leaked betas for MW2012 showed that they were making a DIRECT SEQUEL that has the same atmosphere. Knowing EA, you can definitely blame them for changing the direction. What's even sadder is that MW2012 is a very fun game but having the Most Wanted name slapped on to it hurt it a lot.
@RobtheMod2 probably just a reference, not a story related thing. Proof of mah point: Why would main character of undergrounds get out of a city he's popular in? Like in underground 1 there was a reason but after underground 2? And then How he got totally not road legal BMW?
It's been YEARS since I watched an essay with this level of editing and comedic timing, not to mention than it's about one of the best games of all time, and you did more than enough justice to its name. Well done!
This is one of my top 5 favorite games and easily the greatest car game to ever exist. Best police response system of any game too. It’s so intense and gritty, and feels intelligent. Never gets old. Sometimes I listen to the pursuit music in my car so traffic doesn’t feel boring. Great video. 16:30 got me good 😂😂
This game was literally my childhood, theres not a single road on that game I haven't driven more times than I've had hot meals, god I loved it. Core memories unlocked right here, thankyou Manley, eared a sub
Side note, i also had the gameboy version of this game, and completed it many times, when you get the fast cars it becomes insane, basically a F-Zero clone, highly recommend it for any retro gamers I cant lie :D
Manley... My boy. No body on UA-cam puts this kind of effort into their shit. Please don't stop doing what you're doing. This video made me laugh harder, and more times then anything a multi billion dollar corporation has manged to diarrhea in the last decade. I love you. You are incredible.
They really really need to put this game on mobile android and iOS. Both support controllers now and this game will run with highest setting on any new device.
It's amazing how you guys tried to make this a comedic and somewhat serious review, and still got me hyped about this game, even though I have already played it countless times.
Back in the day, my friend and I would take turns playing this game, We found out that part of the map, the freeway that goes around the golf course is just one big loop that you can just keep going around and around and stay high speed and keep the cops on you and there's a specific pursuit breaker that you can hit that is almost a guaranteed evade every time, so the game wants you to do pursuits in different areas of the map, but you can just keep doing pursuits in that specific area for pretty much as long as you want. We got to the point where we had finished the game and we would just go back and do pursuits.
The good ol Rosewood freeway loop with the baseball stadium as the pursuit breaker since there's a hiding spot nearby or you just chill in the stadium because there's no direct sight lines to the street in the outfield. Perfect tactic that I still use except when the helicopter is in play.
This has got to be one of the best reviews I've ever seen, if not the best. Everything about it was great. I look back fondly to MW05, and there's even a new Rework mod out that makes the game look years younger.
im 50 yrs old and got goosebumps watching this, i remember it so well. i did repeated playthroughs of only buying 1 car and winning all the pink slips. best i recall having was a $12.5 million damage bill and getting away. worst thing i did was lend it with my console out to a"friend", was the black edition for ps3, never got either back. still the best driving sim ever.
28:05 I remember how cathartic this was as an 11 year old whose grandma had died recently. Few games have offered that raw cathartic power to me, not even GTA or Postal Games.
I'm normally very stingy with what video's I'll like, but I dropped a like 5 minutes in because this was clearly gonna be a banger, and an absolute banger it was. the editing, humor and overall coverage of the game is all spot on. It's not very often to see the love and interest a UA-camr puts into the video and the game they cover. Truly amazing. Made me want to finish Most Wanted for the 27th time 9/10, not enough EVERONE ear rapes and that riff from Shapeshifter that has to play every 2 seconds in every Most Wanted review
7:45 a small correction. They specifically entered the GT category of LeMans, which requires you to have a certain number of production models of the car that somewhat resembles what you're gonna race. The LMP category on the other hand, don't need any production models.
I LOVE Most Wanted 05, its gameplay was solid especially with the police pursuits, the soundtrack was so good, and the cutscenes are so hilarious to watch! Great video as always Manley!
20:51, there will NEVER be a game that has such a detailed, intense and evolving soundtrack as this, you hit the nail on the head with this, the pursuit chase changes with every little thing you do and its un. f**cking. real.
22:00 The move was if you needed to have an extra car(s) so you could switch back and forth to save your main vehicle. And being careful about your saves. Have one you don’t mind loosing and have your main vehicle as your ace. Typically I used the pink slip cars or cars I bought and upgraded. It worked really well😊
This is arguably one of the most entertaining, funny, and informative youtube vids I've watched in 2022. And i've never touched this game. Well done, Manley.
Honestly, I think Burnout 3 and Paradise seriously at least deserved a mention here. Some things Most Wanted does better, and other things Burnout does better.
Dude this game was a big part of my childhood! It was so fun back in the day! I remember one particular long pursuit where I survived the last 20 minutes on only 3 tires! It was exhilarating af! Didn't make it though... But I still hold this memory dear to my heart. Regarding the video, I haven't laughed this good and this often in quite a while. Great video! Stoked to see the Dishonored one!
3:38 That's basically my life in a nutshell. I pursued music and computer science 'cause I wanted to 1- play metal and 2- make games like MW. P.S.: MW also made me a fan of Avenged Sevenfold and thrust me into the world of metal music like no other person ever could. Kudos to EA's music curator.
Its a shame that whoever creates these soundtracks has clearly been fired or died or had a brain injury now that we have the soundtracks of modern nfs'
Holy shit, I feel as though your channel is euphoric. It’s like what UA-cam used to be back in 2016-2018 back when you had creators put a lot of effort into their videos in their own style yet making it enjoyable for anyone else watching it no matter how many subscribers you have. The coolest part I remember playing years ago was that if the police don’t have a description of your car and you drive at like 20mph, you won’t trigger a police chase even if the cop is right next to you.
Yea, that time the heat bar is dead 0
pretty sure if you just stop on the side of the road when you have 0 heat, they have some pretty funny lines
wow never new that
Driver the wheelman from ps1 had this same mechanic
Thank you.

Those sweaty corvette cop cars spawning like wasps literally had me dripping with sweat. Fun times
Well here is a surprising thing
It is not unused, it’s actually really rare to trigger it, I have a friend that told me that once he played it he heard those lines and he was shocked, so shocked that he paused the game and tried to process what just happened, but I guess you can still call it uncut, or an Easter egg but you can trigger it, it’s just hard to do

I've considered Carbon as not a sequel we need, but the one we've deserved tbh, but do love to see a proper Most Wanted sequel tbh
You’d think they would at least make a re-make just to cash grab but fan base wouldnt care cause we get to relive this game again
Agreed though, they need another like it
@@tragiciansmagician4186 yeah ea pushed the developers to rush most of the games, most of them still came out great though
It took me a few tries to figure it out but damn it was hard
@C6Z_Bob no he's actually making a point cause in a real race you have to do it

Yeah, this is big brain time

@@inplane9970 I would call it "anti-hero MC" instead antagonistic. But yeah, I agree with you.
Even though I saw a ton of NFSMW videos, it amazes me how the game left clues that Mia was an undercover cop and I never picked up on them when I was younger:
1) a call where Cross says "if you're wondering how I got your number, let's just say... NOT EVERYONE OUT THERE IS YOUR FRIEND."
2) how Mia gives you access to the rap sheet by using Cross' login and password
3) and the friggin police line that says "we got a racer here - SHE claims to be an undercover operator"
Maybe I was too busy running away from police Corvettes to pay attention. No wonder people love this game.
"I've rolled these streets for a long time but I never knew the setup was this tight" is another clue.
She was a homage to Brian O Connor
I completed this game more than 10 times and I missed every hint of that, mostly due to the fact that most of those time I was too young and didn't know proper English lol
Yeah so the dead giveaway should've been the fact that she picks you up in front of the police station after Cross arrests you...loudly revs in front of the cops...takes off tires squeeling and nobody pursued. Lol. Fucking narc

Agreed
100 and I'm guilty of this AF. I even remember shedding a tear once over how excited and how much fun I was having after I was outrunning the cops from a level 5 pursuit that was about to pass the 1 hour mark.
And its also a perfect example of why I will always prefer arcade racers to simulators.

Wow like minded individual. I’m also a mechanic that loves metal and plays guitar.

funny cuz ima metalhead that have a garage band not famous we started not long ago, but me and my band loves these songs too, and we might not go fast we like to cause mayhem by making most ridiculous looking cars, like a a double engine car where the 2 engines split in half, and built back together as a singular engine, causing too much engine shake the frame of the car shakes along with, and we cant use the hood so we basically made a idle monster that uses turbos that cases engine sound so powerful u cant hear the vehicle's speakers and rubber from tires burning, we made where it have 12 exhaust pipes 6 on each side of hood, 6 on each side of car doors, huge tires in rear, lastly a special made exhauust tips that look like barrels from a minigun, it's a muscle car with a blower and yes i said twin turbo, we hyper turbo the thing it's undrive able, we gave the vehicle special paint job where, it looks like it was paint sraped attentionally of course, and get a sticker of our future band called Most Wanted Nebula, we got no video like said we not famous we not sure if we going to contine to be a garage band we have plans onto but still not sure, we have a drummer (friend of mine), a singer (me, Briar Hex), guitarist (Storm), bassist (Hecate), and an extra member which havent been told abt the gender, but they are a back up singer with a beautiful voice with the touchy style of notes of our songs we make (name: L.
His cousin sounds suuuuuper mature and responsible

Something to note about the police radio- sometimes they'll _realize_ you have a scanner and "correct" what side the spike strip is on to try and trick you.
I've also heard them stumble over their words and mix up a couple locations.
I never even realized that, wow!
That's actually sick as hell
So they take into consideration tht Mia might be tell u more than she allowed . Thts impressive
As a police officer, the radio traffic in this game is immaculate. It's perfect. It's realistic. Proper verbiage, everything.
And sometimes your going to damn fast and they say it after the fact

Hope you're doing better nowadays~
27:30 The saddest part is that the leaked betas for MW2012 showed that they were making a DIRECT SEQUEL that has the same atmosphere. Knowing EA, you can definitely blame them for changing the direction. What's even sadder is that MW2012 is a very fun game but having the Most Wanted name slapped on to it hurt it a lot.
Carbon. The direct sequel is Carbon
MW2012 was ruined by the suits. Criterion was making that shit, and they. Don't. Miss.
It was supposed to be a Direct squeal to Carbon making it the 5th game with the same character. Underground, U2, MW, Carbon and then MW2012.
@@willhornsby206i don't think that main character from Undergrounds is same that in Most Wanted and Carbon
16:30 got me good 😂😂
I actually didn't know that the sound track adapted to the chase! No wonder they were so intense.
oh yeah it's crazy how choreographed it is.

Yes sir!
Hey, I ran into the same loop! but by the time I found it I had almost completed the game😅
The good ol Rosewood freeway loop with the baseball stadium as the pursuit breaker since there's a hiding spot nearby or you just chill in the stadium because there's no direct sight lines to the street in the outfield. Perfect tactic that I still use except when the helicopter is in play.
Holy shit I used the same loop to test out top speed of cars.

In a true BMW fashion, they convert a M3 into a race car version of a Stuka dive bomber.
My nostalgia glands are overloaded with regret that I cannot erase memory and play this game for the first time again.
This has got to be one of the best reviews I've ever seen, if not the best. Everything about it was great. I look back fondly to MW05, and there's even a new Rework mod out that makes the game look years younger.
i really appreciate you writing that out. thanks
im 50 yrs old and got goosebumps watching this, i remember it so well. i did repeated playthroughs of only buying 1 car and winning all the pink slips. best i recall having was a $12.5 million damage bill and getting away. worst thing i did was lend it with my console out to a"friend", was the black edition for ps3, never got either back. still the best driving sim ever.
Nfs isnt a driving sim tho, its arcade racer
28:05 I remember how cathartic this was as an 11 year old whose grandma had died recently. Few games have offered that raw cathartic power to me, not even GTA or Postal Games.
Very well done video. The points you made on the cohesion between the music and the gameplay honestly gave me chills just like the game did. Easy sub
Made me want to finish Most Wanted for the 27th time
9/10, not enough EVERONE ear rapes and that riff from Shapeshifter that has to play every 2 seconds in every Most Wanted review

7:45 a small correction. They specifically entered the GT category of LeMans, which requires you to have a certain number of production models of the car that somewhat resembles what you're gonna race. The LMP category on the other hand, don't need any production models.
Yeah my mistake it was the ALMS not the LM since it was DQd but still a badass car either way
This wasn’t even remotely close to LmP tho if h those are like completely conveptual machines
I LOVE Most Wanted 05, its gameplay was solid especially with the police pursuits, the soundtrack was so good, and the cutscenes are so hilarious to watch! Great video as always Manley!
Those cutscenes are so fun to watch. guilty pleasure.

P.S.: MW also made me a fan of Avenged Sevenfold and thrust me into the world of metal music like no other person ever could. Kudos to EA's music curator.
