  • After last week's episode I wanted to revisit the whole corset subject again as I wasn't quite satisfied with the result.
    In this video I am gonna show you an easy, beginner friendly version to spice up your casual outfit. Simply add the corset belt over a blouse, t-shirt or sweater and your ready for a nice night out (sorta - once we actually can go out again). Anyways, it's a good and fast project which can be utilized when the time comes.
    FREE PATTERN DOWNLOAD:

    You will need approx. 0,5m for the belt.
    If you're new here, I'd recommend the BASICS - SEWING SCHOOL playlist, you will find all the episodes of my classes there:

    You definitely have a real talent for pattern drafting. The corset belt looks really good on you. As far as the whole wrinkling thing, I think that's pretty much inevitable with a garment having so many pieces, curved seams, multiple layers, boning and piping. Your seams would all have to be perfectly matched or one piece will always pull on the others around it and cause a wrinkle. I look forward to your videos. You really do excellent work.

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  4 роки тому +4

      Thanks so much! I'm very happy with the result of the belt and that there are no wrinkles ♥️ the wrinkles in the dress were mainly because I didn't use any stabilizer like iron on interfacing. Sth I know better normally but just didn't do for the dress (for no reason at all 🤷🏻‍♀️).

    • @wednes3day
      @wednes3day 4 роки тому +1

      @@kkkkk4950 looking at the printing instructions it seems to be intended for A4 (as in it'll defs work with that)
      Edit: checked, there are setups for US Letter, DIN A4 and DIN A3

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  4 роки тому +1

      There is US Letter and DinA4 (and DinA0). All of them are pdfs, hence when you put your settings to print 100% it'll spit it out in the correct format. There is also a control that needs to measure 5cm or 1". There are instructions that explain all you have to do clearly. It's written in the item description on Etsy to read the instructions and then once you actually purchase the pattern, you'll get a bunch of PDFs that are worth reading, also telling you how to print. I hope I could help you 🥰

    This is amazing! I am definetly going to make it. I have been wanting one forever.
    Side note. Its not a big issue here, but I am soooo pisset that I don't fit the regular sizing, and I allways have to altern patterns soo much, I end up making a new one. And i hardly ever find clothes that fit, so I don't buy them.

      I feel you! I am also between sizes with a small waist and bigger hips (88/65/98) but I have quite small boobs. So maybe this pattern is quite good for you as the bust is left out anyway - an S/M should be fine for you as well 🥰 if not, adjusting for sure does the trick 💪🏻

    I have missing & ruptured discs in my spine & arthritis in my spine. I also am a professional cosplayer, Faerie Faire & Renn Faire worker. My pain management specialist told me that I could no longer wear my corsets as not only the compression can cause more damage, it weakens the core muscles that supports my spine.
    But I have a solution to this issue that he approved:
    Elastic Stays
    Either lace it as normal with elastic or make individual patterns that work for you but my corsets never hurt or dig in anymore & that's vital for 12 hour days in character.

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  4 роки тому +6

      If course you can! 🥰 if you want to avoid a whole bunch of math, you can sew the size that is closest to your size (rather bigger than smaller) and fit it to you body by taking out the fabric that's too much in the dividing seams! Or you can do the math (take the pattern size that fits your hips): Substract your waist from the waist of the pattern and divide it by 20 and that's the amount you will have to take out on every seam except center front and center back! 🥰

    Do I need a special needle to sew through rigilene? I tried my hand at making a corset-style belt back in December but abandoned the project due to my machine getting stuck too often on the rigilene. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

    • @THISISKACHI
      @THISISKACHI  4 роки тому +1

      Not that I know of. As Rigelene is just 4 or 5 strands of polyester next to each other, the needle should fined its way next to it 🙈 but you can solve the problem by using boning channels and just put the boning in there.

    hi kachi. you sewed the boning direct to the fabric and then sewed the channels on top of it, right? why did you go with this method instead of the "regular one" putting the boning into the channels? is it better or it was just an random choice of you? im doing mock ups to fit me the corset. oh, and btw, your corset belt its the most beautiful and neat i ever saw on youtube.

    I love your corset belt. Can you please do a video tutorial how to measure oneself to send you my body measurements so that I can send you my body measurements for you to sew me a belt corset. Tell me what kind of fabric do you use. I have a rose floral cotton fabric or rose floral tapestry fabric I would like to use. I’m really serious. I do body measurements in inches.

    That looks amazing! Which width of rigeline boning did you use? And where did you buy the boning channels?

    I am a large in US shirt size, for comparison I have a D cup and I'm on the heavier side but I'm tall so I don't look like it (imagine a big pear, but with breasts, and not a pear). I printed out your template and thank you! It looked amazing until I was almost at the end and realized it wouldn't fit, I did a XL and did it with a little extra just cuz my seams were less than 1/4th (accident). It only goes from one arm across my front to the other. I checked the inch square and it was an inch so the sizing seemed right. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to have to try and modify it to much because I don't have a dress form to try on.

    Hallo, vielen Dank für dieses Tutorial! 🤗 Ich habe ein paar Fragen. Kaufen Sie einfach alle Ihre Nähzubehörteile bei AliExpress? Wie lange dauert der Versand nach Deutschland? Ist es billiger als sie in den örtlichen Geschäften zu kaufen?
    Entschuldigung, ich lerne immer noch Deutsch und dachte, es wäre eine gute Idee, Ihnen zu fragen. Ich habe besonders Probleme beim Kauf von Nähmaterial in den örtlichen Geschäften, da ich den Wortschatz nicht kenne. 😅
    Liebe Grüße 💛

      Hi! Danke für deinen Kommentar! 🥰 du kannst mich ruhig duzen ♥️ ich kaufe mein Zubehör erst seitdem ich mehr produziere (also jede Woche kommt ja ein Video raus) bei AliExpress. Das ist auf Dauer um ein Vielfaches günstiger als hier. Außerdem ist das für uns ja momentan die einzige Möglichkeit, weil ja alles geschlossen hat 🙈 Stoffe kaufe ich lieber aus zumindest EU-Ländern, da ich sonst Einfuhrgebühren/Zoll/etc. zahlen müsste und das ist so viel Bürokratie für mich als Gewerbetreibende. Außerdem gibt es für Geschäftskunden da viele europäische Alternativen. Der Versand nach Deutschland ist seeeeehr sehr langsam, aber das ist auch verständlich. Ich warte ca. einen Monat auf meine Waren.
