Not me stealing bedsheets from around the house to make all your bedsheets dresses 😌😁
LMAOOO your family are probably thinking hmm where did my bedsheets go... that dress looks familiar....
@@cait3 probably lmaoo
Watch me buy up all the cute sheets at the thrift store !
@@gardendancing1012 Me too ✋
Same but I’m probably going to fail cause my only skills in clothes n stuff is spitting in my room with an old shirt making clothes for my stuffies
selkie dresses are poorly tailored at the bodice. although their fabric and designs are stellar, and i love that they are body-positive. however, even in the photos on their own website show bunching at the waist, incorrect placement of the bust, and a horribly insufficient bust. this video is so satisfying, as you've corrected all those problems and you created a piece that's gorgeous AND fits!
I made this as a beginner (someone who’s never made a dress before) and it turned out GREAT
I really want to try making this dress for my birthday but I have also never sewn before. May I ask how hard it was and how long did it take you?
What sewing machine do you have?
THIS gives me the confidence to try it as well!!!
Me too! Such a good guide
Omg same I got the machine last year but I was so busy with college and afraid to start doing a dress but yeah not anymore after your comment Thankss!💞
I will make it as soon as I finish my final exams😆✨
Oh my god the dress is stunning! You always make the most amazing clothes and I love watching you make them - even if I am a beginner aha
That's so sweet! I hope that my videos help you on your sewing journey ✨
You can do it. I believe in you❤
I made this dress for my birthday and
IT
WAS
FANTASTIC
Like literally I did it in a lavender color and I felt like the bell of my party the whole night! (the party just ended!)
I'm super late but happy birthday
Heyyy, super later but Happy Birthday!!! I wish you good health and good luck
Hola. Cómo descargaste el patrón?
Happy reaaaaally late birthday!!🎉🎉🎉 haha
I love your work and it’s definitely helped keep my thinking straight when drafting patterns myself. You helped me with my own strawberry dress and I really wanna make this one now.
Plz
Plz plz teach me how to draw a pattern
Going to buy this pattern and use it to make a wedding dress for myself. With the right material, I think I might be able to pull it off. May try to make the back longer to make a train. We will seeeee. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Congratulations on your wedding!
@@jiyasingh7613 Thank you!
Did you do it? How's it going??😃
@@myleemontag1690I bought the fabric 2 weeks ago and I actually cut out the pieces today. Wedding isn't for about 7 months so I'll be taking my time.
Thanks for asking :)
What fabric are u using?
oh my goodness this is the dress of my dreams! you have been the one to push me to start learning how to sew and i’d really like to thank you for it! so excited to begin learning :)
Ahhh omg that’s so sweet!! I’m so glad I could help you on your sewing journey!☺️💛
Stop
Literally just yesterday I was organizing my sheets because I started using flat sheets instead of fitted sheets (gives me less back pain) and I realized that now I have a bunch of fitted sheets and nothing to do with them. This video could not have come at a better time. My sheets are almost identical to the ones that you used and I was looking for a new sewing project.
This timing is actually perfect
Thanks!
this is so pretty!!! i saw this video then managed to find a light seafoam green bedsheet set (king size) that i will try to use to make this soon. all of ur creations are so cute and inspire/give me so much motivation to sew!!
Can you update the comment after you make it? i want to know if there was enough fabric to use so i can buy a king size sheet to instead of a sheet and fitted sheet with pillow cases ect (its hard to find them all in the same shade or colour)
@@pcemail10 hi! I finished cutting out all the pieces (every measurement sized up 1.5in from her measurements) I ended up having to use both a normal sheet and fitted sheet, as I didn't have enough for both skirt pieces on just one sheet. (I was able to fit everything else + 1 skirt piece on thr flat sheet) You may be able to use just one if you cut the pieces precisely enough, though, because I think the only reason why it didn't work for me was I accidentally ripped through where I shouldn't have making the rest of the flat sheet too small for the other skirt piece to fit. Hope I could help a little!
May I know what kind of material sheet did you use? Just normal microfiber? Thanks! I can't wait to try it too!!
@@xanimexXxgurlx2 hi there! I can't remember exactly, but im pretty sure I used 100% polyester microfiber sheets
@@glimmerlings thanks!!
Came we please normalize this Style as every day wear🥺 it’s gorgeous!!!
I just loved this dress. I think it's one of my favorites so far. :)
A while ago I commented on how much you inspire me, and once again I would like to thank you, I recently made my first dress (it's not perfect yet but I'm pretty happy with the results) and your videos make me feel motivated try again and improve my sewing skills (and my english haha).
Ahh omg that’s so sweet!!!🥺 thanks for making my day💛✨
Just so you know, I bought the pattern and started making this dress with 6 yards of 60" fabric. I'm making it in size medium and there isn't enough fabric to make the ruffle piece because the skirt pieces are too wide to fit on the fold according to grain line. I still love this pattern but I thought I would let you know!! I'm not sure what I should add to the hem for visual interest yet. I'm thinking maybe a ribbon ruffle for the hem and sleeves or even making the sleeves and ruffle out of a couple yards of some contrasting fabric? If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!
The contrasting sleeves & ruffle sounds great!!! Depending on your taste, making a simple sash in that second color would be a good way to tie that color back in on the body of the dress as well. Plus you could make the sash wider in the back so it could be tied in a very fluffy bow! Have fun & let us know how it goes (as I am making a small but I only have twin sheets so ^^,,,)
Same thing happened to me and I'm making a size XS
I’m making this dress so I figured I’d update with my progress
Day 0: not counting this as a day because all I did was tape the pattern together and cut it out
Day 1: I cut out everything but the bottom ruffles, I used a rotary cutter for the bodice pieces and used a single pillow case for them all. I realized that my fitted sheet had the elastic topstitched in, meaning I couldn’t just pull it out (I just cut it out instead) and was very sad. I used the fitted sheet for the skirt pieces and the sleeves, leaving the flat sheet for all the ruffles. I sewed all the bodice and lining pieces together!
Day 2: I really wanted to get more done because I basically need it done after tomorrow, but alas, sometimes I’m really slow! I cut out all my ruffles from my flat sheet and sewed the sleeves onto the dress. One thing I struggled with was the amount of seam allowance I should use for the bodice to the sleeve. I used about an inch to make sure, but it probably could’ve been smaller. I also sewed one of the casings of the sleeves and figured out how much elastic I needed for myself. I spent almost a half hour seam ripping the elastic out of the sheet because it was sewn into it, but luckily my mom offered to do a bunch for me!
Day 3: I sewed the skirt pieces together and gathered it onto the bodice I sewed it before also attaching the lining because I forgot, but it was better that way! I then did the lining to the skirt and outer piece wrong and had to seam rip it all, my mom helped me figure it out because the step for that part it really confusing! I sewed all the ruffle pieces together and hemmed them before sewing gathers. I then also sewed about a quarter of the gather stitches
Day 4: I finished the dress. It took a bit to pin the ruffles to the skirt but I finished it eventually. I sewed the elastic in the casing for the bottoms of the sleeves and I did the invisible zipper.
The front of the dress is a bit low and the skirt pretty heavy. So just a warning for anyone wanting to make it. All in all, I really like it and would definitely recommend making it. In total I spent less than $50. About $35 on the sheets (from IKEA, but a cheaper brand might be lighter and not have the elastic topstitched in), the zipper and the boning were about $5 (I got both on sale at Fabricland), and the pattern was $9 but I will probably use pieces if not the entire pattern for future projects. I was on a bit of a time crunch so don’t be like me and instead give yourself a lot of time, it will definitely be easier and less stressful!!
I would definitely want this pattern 😍 love it with the sleeves up!
Every time I watch one of your videos I want to make a princess gown. You just make it look so effortless and fun :D
I'm loom knitting a t-shirt . On Sunday past I started to make dream catchers
I've been wanting to learn to sew and bought a machine but I haven't found a pattern I liked till now! I'm so excited to buy your patterns!
Adorable! I love that you used a sheet, as well! I love using thrifted sheets for sewing projects ❤
You are so talented! I am obsessed with this 👗😍😍 it looks amazing when the sleeves are worn off the shoulder!! This novice sewer is heading out to thrift fitted sheets immediately ❤️😍❤️
I just got your pattern and a bedsheets and I'm so excited to sew this 😭😭🥰🥰
What a talented young lady you are congratulations on a gorgeous dress
It came out super cute! I love how you explain what portion of the dress you'll be working on instead of just listing every step throughout the video. It makes this an actually useful tutorial.
How did you do the ruffle? Can you help me? I sewed the parallel line, what do I do next?
That dress is beautiful! I love that style on you
I love the volume of the skirt!!!! MY STYLE UGHHHHHH 💖💖💖💖
I got a notification from my watch so I only saw the title, and my immediate thought was that you made a dress inspired by selkies from folklore 😂
I love the outcome of this dress ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the tutorial aspect of it. Not only was the dress beautiful, but every step was clear and concise.
Omg! I need to buy this now! I wanna feel like a princess!
You’re so talented! The dress came out beautifully!
Can I see a photo of the finished product?
I just started getting interested in sewing so I wanted to watch some videos about it to familiarise myself with the terminology and I found this one! I love it, it's really aesthetic and well-explained and the result is stunning! Thanks for making this dress and this video ^^
Sheets really are one of the best things to at least practice on so you don't feel bad if you mess up a few times!
Wow you are not only beautiful but talented as well. Your finished product is so stunnìngly beautiful

Such a beautiful dress! Turned out perfectly. I'd love to make it, but gee I hate sewing gathers.
It's so beautiful ✨💛
I love this idea
I really really like your dress! 🥰
I implore you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, make more tutorials. This has been literally so helpful as a intermediate seamstress and is so easy to understand. Thank you, I will keep this video saved as I’ve been working on a milkmaid dress that is similar
That works so good
Ahhhh that's wonderful!!
Thank you so much for the video tutorial and sewing patterns! I just made the most gorgeous dress for my friends wedding, that I can't wait to wear! This can be sewed from a single duvet cover +pillowcase, if you sew together a couple of pieces for the inner lining, and cut a bit off the ruffle length btw ❤
you are super talented
This is so pretty 🥰
It's SO pretty✨✨
Beautiful work.
so pretty! definitely going to have to try a simpler version of this haha
I actually followed this tutorial for the sleeves and the skirt but the bodice was based on a tank top pattern I liked since Im afraid of my dress slowly riding down because of the skirt weight and I needed support for my chest. I also put in a built-in petticoat made of organza on the inside for the floof factor but its attached to a yoke which is like 6 inches of the top of the skirt patternand the inner ruffles are stitched to that to prevent waist bulk.
The dress is amazing! I'm definitely going to grab the pattern and try it out.
As a tip for the boning: You can also file the edges down a little with a nail file after your round it with the scissors. Just to make sure it's nice and smooth and won't cut the fabric.
Just "WOW" !! I wish could do this too TwT
I can’t wait for the pattern! I’m super super beginner but you inspire me and I need to make this dress like RIGHT NOW! :)
yay!! best of luck!! 💛
i love how this looks especially the sleeves!! im thinking about getting the pattern and making a dress for prom like this but in black, maybe emroider some insects and animal skulls on the bottom bc edge

@@greeniscoollol I actually got really confused by the instructional video and messed up the seams 😩 The sizing also didn't fit me completely for a M. The cups were to big but the waist was big enough.
@@GabrielleJames Oh no! I hope you succeed if you ever try again!
how much fabric did you use ?
Now I want to learn how to sew 😍😍😍😍
I love your work and your videos! Keep them up (:
Thank you so much!
Uh! SO DREAMY!!!!!
