@@lolly5957 no, you can drape it on yourself in a mirror , or do a flat pattern drafting method. btw the more accurate term would be dress form, a mannequin typically refers to the plastic/ fiberglass forms specifically for clothing display
Just a thought: for non-sew-ers, it'd be interesting if you included a total time of work put into the project . As someone who has taken up sewing recently, I'd find it interesting to know how much time (roughly) it took to create each project. I think it says a lot about the craft, and how intricate and detail it really is. (I mean, I have sewn from patterns, and even that can take forever!) You mentioned in (I think the cowl neckline one) video that it took you 30 hours to make the pattern. Idk, I just think it'd be intriguing to mention how much time you spend on each particular project/work. Obviously, it would take each one of us a different amount of time to complete the same project, but I still think it would be motivating.
I feel like it really just depends on how much to you have to offer . If you have 24 hours and you want to dedicate those 24 hours to making something then it’ll take 24 hours or less or more depending on the time you have to offer and if you have to redo it
Elegra Margiela oooo I might have to do that as well! I saw some awesome tie-dye denim fabric at the store the other day and I think it would look awesome for this.
Probably the best sewing tutorial I've ever seen. You're so good at explaining everything and angling the camera so your hands aren't in the way. So talented!!!
This one and your other corset vid have really helped me to understand how to use my dress form to drape/pattern more fitted garments. I dropped out of the fashion dept in school to study other design disciplines, and I never got to the draping classes lol
Glad it was helpful! Draping was truly a game changer for me. So much easier than flat patterning everything! (although flat patterning is still super useful)
This is my first pattern and maybe I just don’t get it. But do I add seam allowance to the cut paper pattern pieces. I wish there was a see along with the digital pattern.
@@jevousamie2 I am making this and I have the same doubt. Did u manage to do this? Do I only give seam allowance on the vertical sides or on all sides??

Your keen attention to detail made this such a satisfying and beautiful video to watch. You are so skilled, and I can't wait to have a go at trying this myself! Hope you have a great day 😊
I will do this with a green satin fabric and do some decor stitches with gold yarn. This will definitely spice up my prom dress! Thank you very mich for this video, I've been searching for a beautiful corset design like this for days!

Thank you so much for this. I did buy the pattern and I started a practice piece before watching the video. I can’t wait to go home and do this with the intended fabric I have
I've been watching your videos since yesterday and I've learned so much! I'm a total beginner and I've found sewing relaxes me and works wonders for my anxiety, so I'm really excited about having found you because the way you explain has made understand so many things I didn't before! Also, on another video you mentioned something about doing a mini sewing machine challenge and I'd love that since I got myself one to get started with sewing. Keep up the fabulous content! 🖤
Hey Kiana! I bought your pattern on etsay and I just wanted to thank you so so much for this. The pattern is perfect, your explanation is fantastic, slow and thorough and you helped my corset to turn out beautifully! I'm such a messy sewer usually and I was super worried if I could get a decent looking result but I was amazed at how easy you made it to follow. Thank you so much. I will be buying a lot more patterns! You produce really great content... oh man, I cant stop gushing haha
Hi!! I just discovered your channel a week ago and I'm really thankful for that since I was really sick and sad because I couldn't do anything about it. Your videos are so easy to follow and entertaining that it gave me the inspiration to get better so I could sew now that I'm healthy! Thank you so much for being awesome! Ps: Do you have any tips for stopping organza to fray? Every time I work with it it's just a mess and I have to be extra careful when I sew it so the edges don't get destroyed 😂
I am glad you're healthy now and that my videos are helpful! If I am working with organza in a normal garment, I will always use french seams so the raw edges will not be exposed even on the inside. I think when it comes to organza, it likes to be left alone. Try not to play with it too much or redo seams.
@@KianaBonollo Oooh french seams its a good idea! Since I have an overlock I hardly do those anymore, thanks! Organza it's so pretty but I usually avoid it because it falls apart so easily but I think it's time to face my fears!
Thank you for this!! I was trying to devise something like this on some spare fabric, and this step-by-step is making me feel braver about getting started!
This seems so much easier than drafting using a female basic block. Thank you for your sewing wisdom. My projects look much more professional when I know the sewing basics lol
A "waist cincher" would be the proper term.😊 I've always wanted to make one, and this pattern seems easy to follow. The base fabric looked really pretty!
Ever since I discovered your page Ive been glued to my sewing machine making new pieces everyday! Thank you for the great content and proper tutorials. One last thing, which material did you use for this cute corset?
Been loving your tutorials! Can you make a tailoring a shirt video? I have some shirts that are a couple sizes too big that I’d love to make smaller but not sure where to start
I was thinking that it might be nice to make the waist cincher out of TWO sheer layers, but for the outer "right" side, make the pieces longer and ruche each side - there will be slight color variations where the fabric has those soft folds and an added bit of texture. OR - Make the outer layer from lace with a sheer backing layer of a contrasting color. OR - Use two sheer layers but out of different colors for added visual depth. This seems like such a versatile pattern!
Hey Kiana! I just bought your pattern and I can't wait to use this as my next procrastination project while in school lol... I saw another commenter asking about the difference to make an opaque version. Would you be able to clarify the separate steps required? I don't see clear instructions in the steps that came with the pattern purchase. Thanks a lot! Can't wait to pull this together!
I was wondering if you could make a video showing how to make this with opaque fabrics, you mentioned there are separate steps and i just cant get the steps to make sense in my head. Thanks so much!
So the tension from the presser foot of your machine can end up pushing the top layers of fabric a bit out of place while the feed dogs can pull the bottom layer a bit out of place. So if you go in the same direction, everything will be pushed/pulled the same way.
