Running dual 320 XL's in my space, phenomenal units. Running day 32 of veg and they easily look like they could've been in there twice as long had I been using blurples. I'm surprised that there is no Meanwell driver though.

Great review fantastic numbers only issue would be for me is the heat . @ 30 inches the floor gets 100 degrees looking at the VPD chart you would have to run your RH 76-80? fans blowing on it would just push around hot air? You save on wattage (500w) but you have to run a AC to cool the tent down? OR add Co2. I would love to hear from people that are using this light.
Keep in mind this is a 2x4 tent and this is a 4x4 light so it's really pounding this space. It heats up the floor because of the extreme output of the light as well. You want that kind of output. It has a dimmer to tune it to what you need.

Honestly I thought they just came this way. I have never had one. I was confused by the driver because I thought they used meanwell but then some HLG fans said they switched it up and added a dimmer. I guess they are confident in that driver that it will last their 3 year warranty period at least.
imho it doesnt matter what u use to grow in this case. a 10w led and 10w hps produce about the same amount of heat. there is no way to run any tent without ac or extractor bcuz the tent is 'airtight like a plastic bag' so even 10w will in time heat it hot bcuz the heat builds up to the roof like in a sauna unless its extracted or let out in the room(

I would assume it is brighter than the 550 mine pulls 635 watts at the wall at full power and it is very bright but I have never seen the two side buy side buy I'm sure the 600 is slightly brighter. yes to answer 6x6 coverage. I believe it's good for a 7x7 veg and 5x5 flower if I remember right

I love the gap in the center to alleviate the hotspot that most lights get because they make the footprint too small.

I have the HLG 600 kit light in a 4x5 have used for close to 2 years, it kills it every time. great from veg all the way through flower. uses a little less than 600 watts at the wall and is cheaper than the 550. BTW mine is the original v1 and I am very happy with the results

@@agroumoutis I run 4 plants from seed, veg about 5 weeks in a DIY hydro bucket ebb and flow with hydroton . get 1 1/2 to 2 lbs . buckets are 3 gallon, tried 6 plants , but it was way too full to manage.
so 3 years has passed how did it perform and would you pick another light over it for a 4x4 nowadays?
I get lights so fast I didn't get much of a chance to use it. I get a new light every month to test pretty much. The output on it is amazing and did well of course. It's still a great light but they have others out now to replace it that have upgrades. They also have a new bar light out that I haven't been able to test yet that will also be great. The bar lights tend to be more even coverage. I've got over 100 LED test videos, check them out. Lots of stuff.
I just put my R-spec up in my 5 by 5. I ran the HLG550V1 for two years with killer results and it paid for itself twice over, using 480 watts. Going to use my old one for a backup. HLG is the best!

Are the boards riveted to the heat sink? Not small Allen? That's a prick job if you have to replace a board. Nothing like drilling out a 1000 dollar light lol.
Yeah I noticed that and had the same thought, I forgot to mention it though.
We switch out the whole unit if you lose any leds. That generally is not the problem when using quality LEDs such as Samsung and Osram. 99% of failures are the driver.
I have an HLG 320 rspc in a 5x2.5 planthouse(growers houses tent) what a sweet setup. HLG, J2G no joke. The katanas no joke either lol

Assembled in America. I'm not sure if there is a single part on it that's MADE in America. The boards and driver are both made in China. As are most things electronic though. That's why this corona virus shit has people shitting bricks.

R. W. - you will get better results if you start small and learn the basic before stepping it up. Maybe a 2x2 or a 3x3. So many things happen during the course of the grow and if you are inexperienced you will can lose your whole crop. Do one or two plants to start, learn the light schedule, learn the feeding schedule, not sure if you’re doing hydro or soil but both have unique problesm that can arise, learn the environment problems that WILL happen (super hot days, super cold nights, bugs, mites, over water, over feeding, not enough water, not enough nutes, etc) and how to solve each problem.
I recommend getting a grow text book, i like Ed Rosenthal’s grower’s handbook but some also like jorge cervantes’s grow bible. That way when a problem occurs you’re not scouring the internet looking for help.

Rigchis_Ain't_Playing My electric bill went down $80 a month after swapping it out with my HPS. It paid for itself in savings, twice over so far. Still has another year warranty. It improved my quantity and quality, also. I would pay $300 more for it. My dream light! Praise it!!!!

Weird. I just got one last month and it came with a meanwell driver but no dimmer. Great light though.
They switched it up recently apparently from what HLG fans are telling me.
should have a black rubber small plug on top of the driver. lift out black plug and put a phillips screw driver in the hole to adjust.
did you put that dimmer on ? most i seen you need a small screwdriver to ajust and they only go down to 200 watts
Nope it came with it. I think they changed things recently.
Maybe not enough blue or even less than 400 nm, say 380 nm (UV) to direct the plant to be more short and compact for the indoor grower. While there is a bit in the far red, I don't think there is enough "volume" of red above 700 nm. HLG is not. keeping current with the literature if their spectrum chart is accurate.

And yes it is F-ing amazing, yea the aluminum heat sink is nice and anodized red color looks nice, well the driver and the thicker aluminum makes it a little heavy but not so bad where it take two people to hang, I wasn’t too, it’s composite I believe but I’ll feel them again to see and there there for you to grab and lift by also will protect the diodes if you lay the light down diode face down those rectangular composites keep the diodes off the floor
The hanging kit is garbage. Wires and carabiners? Spend the money to thread the heat sink and mount brackets or hooks and get rid of all the bs. Same with the rivets. Have fun replacing a dead board on your own. Easy and cheap to thread those and use screws but that’s too much effort for these rip offs.

Just regular rope ratchets, just make sure you get the ones with the metal gear and not plastic. Few bucks more.

would love a retest with the light dimmed till set to 450 watts, would be the perfect way to compare this led against the spider farmers sf4000 which runs 450 watts with 18"= 998 ppfd at center.
most standard height measurements for par are at 12" -18 " - 24"

You guys think this is good have a look at the lumatek zeus pro 600w. Way better you can change bars in and out in 2 seconds control upto a 1000 separate light's with the controller and it covers a 150x150 area in flower.
This is what I need to keep up or maybe even outdo my man... My first grow... He is seasoned grower... But dang... A little pricy... But yeah... A gal can dream....

How did everything turn out with this setup?
A spectral analyzer would tell us about efficiency and if led's are emitting light from correct photosynthetic range.
I now use a spectrometer and 4 corner par testing. Check out the newer videos.
Anyone have any experience with this light so far? I’m looking into getting one but the low blue spectrum concerns me I’m sure the red spectrum is perfect for bud production but node spacing is what makes it purty

That’s all good, but to get those results you would have to bold it to the ceiling. Even if you do, you’re gonna be left with only 4 foot worth of growing space. I have 8 feet ceilings so that’s based on my assessment.
I rarely run out of vertical in my grows. It sounds like you don't really do much training.
I live in one of the states that does not have legal cannabis yet, so I practice a lot with peppers and tomatoes lol.

Amazon, ebay, lots of places really. Apogee PAR meter. They run about $500 or so for the current model. Or you could go with something like the Pulse pro which has PAR but also spectrum and a lot of other features, discount code J2G for 10% off that.

The 650 is a little too much for a 4x4, I would recommend a 5x5 for the 650. But yes, the light would be well suited for 6 plants

Does anyone else struggle with the heat put off by these? With the dimmer all the way up im getting high temps (79-81) with the ac running at 60
My solution was to get a box fan. I have 2 of thses lights in a 5by8 grow room. I simply hung the box fan, then hung my lights to where they are in the middle of the fan, so air is blowing top and bottom of the light fixture. I have the fan on it's lowest setting, and with that said I'm able to put the back of my hand on the boards and drivers no problem. The tops and bottoms of the lights are super cool. Hope this helps

I went the DIY route with mine. I bought 4 kits with 2 boards and a double heatsink. Then ordered the driver from a different company. It ended up only costing a little over $250 apiece. So for a little over $1000 I have 2 setups comparable to this. Each set is running 250 watts. They are crushing my space.

This would work decent for that, little lacking on the 6' part but you could just add another small LED to supplement. Or you could do 3 of the 2x4 kits, like the HLG 300L Rspec. Which I will be reviewing soon. Of course that would be the most expensive option.
Is the driver removable? It looked like the leads were long enough to place the driver outside of the tent and solve the higher heat readings? Tsw2000w has removable drivers with long leads

Why use the 550 when you can get the 600 diy for $300 cheaper and more power? Unless u have broken fingers and can't plug in wires it seems like your wasting money on the 550. Great vid, thanks for the review.
c m the diy kit is $759 on HLGs website. It’s not cheaper it’s just more bang for your buck which you can always get if you diy.

i have 2 of these in a 4x8. get nice buds. however in the tent it gets really hot. i have to run an ac inside the tent. Makes for $400+ electric bill. fans dont work. open to ideas.

ineedcbsi I run AC for now, but it’s hot where I am. in winter I won’t need to but. I’m not in USA. So long as you have decent air in and out you shouldn’t need air conditioning in winter. These run much cooler than a HID 600 watt
