So This Guy's first name is Muhammad, but he's following instructions from the book of Isaiah which is followed by Christians and Jews? Can anybody comment or explain this?
is he the only non-moslem named Mohammed in the world?

It was a little confusing (perhaps due to editing/shortening of Bergsma's talk), but it was the *Essenes* - the quasi-monastic Jewish community that lived at the time of Jesus - who were following Isaiah. Then, 1900 years later, a guy named Muhammad threw a rock into one of the caves and discovered the scrolls.

The name of the shepherd is Mohamed and he is the guy who throw the rock in 1947 and noticed the Jars that contained the scrolls.

Those who are advocating women priests, and priests to be married are then going against what Jesus said in Mt 19:12! And more so Pope Francis!! Is he reading another scripture or following another Jesus????

Catholicism coming from the very beginning and Protestantism coming from the 1500 century... nuff said

Orthodoxy also comes from the very beginning, and their bishops also descend from Peter.

History teaches that The Orthodox Church is the Original Catholic Church, and that the Roman Catholic Church emerged centuries later. Protestantism then emerged from the Roman Catholic Church. Peace To You.

@@MikesBibleNotes: Greek Orthodox history teaches, that is....not history according to Irenaeus, or Augustine, or even Athanasius, who sought the help of the Bishop of Rome against the Arians.....

Well with that ideology we can say, Buddhism came before Catholicism therefore Buddhism must be right. That Catholicism came before Lutheran belief doesn't really say anything at all. That is stupid argument. Not wise and not anchored in bible at all. Jesus came first. He wants relationship with you. Jesus didn't come with Catholicism. He didn't come with the word Lutheran either. But what Lutheran belief is saying is scale away all religious behaviour. Have your own personal relationship with Jesus Christ who died for your sins. Don't forget we are NOT in war with eachother! That is a lie from pits of hell. We are in war with the kingdom of darkness.

Awesome symposia. Wonderful presentation. Gifted scholar and communicator. Thank you for this presentation. I have heard of the "Dead Sea scrolls" in the past and thought it only had to do with ancient copies of scrolls of the prophet Isaiah, of interest to biblical, textual scholars versed in the arcana of biblical minutiae. I had no idea of the importance of another Jewish community of ascetics in opposition to those of the Sadducees and Pharisees, that sheds light on the immediate precursor to the NT Church and monasticism as well. How fascinating to learn both St. John the Baptist and St. John may have had contact with them and to see similarities in the NT Church's texts and similar phraseology and concepts in the Essene community. Benedictine communities looked to St. Benedict of Nursia, St. John Cassian, and the Alexandrian / Egyptian Desert Fathers, but this puts us beyond Jesus Christ and the Apostles to the immediate precursors to Jesus's ministry fulfilling the aspirations of Essene monasticism as well ("eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven"). Just fascinating. What a rich faith we have from Jesus Christ and the Apostles through, with, and in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

we have one high priest Yahshua. I got a lot from this but Catholicism is no stranger from its errors. The current pope is not sinless I would go a few steps farther and say most Catholics and Christians are more just the pope today is wicked. going against both old and new testament. I find the popes of my day going against what the bible says.

I am Catholic and I agree with you that there is only one high priest Jesus , that the catholic has made mistakes , that the Pope is a sinner . I also Agrree that the church is a body of believers . Jesus is high priest of the priesthood > Jesus is the high priest of His Church and continually sanctifies her , but he preserves her from theological error . The church and her priests represents his own sacrifice at the holy mass just as he commanded at the last supper when he said "DO THIS in memory of me ". Thats what makes her Holy and necessary . So the church is made up of a body of believers each having the own role . They gather once a week in a "CONSECRATED BUILDING" to celebrate the great sacrifice of our saviour Jesus Christ . I , on the other hand have been extremely fortunate to have read some John Paul II writings and I believe that he was the most important Pope of the last century . His writings are beautiful and profound in wisdom . His encyclical "Theology of the Body" is probably the greatest treatise on human sexuality ever written . He was a beautiful man but a man of of extraordinary strength and faith .

Romans 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
It's unreasonable to expect anyone, even the church Christ founded. Even among the apostles he chose was one who betrayed him (Judas).
I also remind you that the way is narrow.(Matthew 7:14), and that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23), this is the reason I am very worried for protestant denominations that lead by consensus... they are as the blind leading the blind, they will fall into a pit. (Matthew 15:14)
You are peter, and upon this rock I shall build my church. (Matthew 16:18) Many forget that the church was founded with a single 'rock' beneath it and Christ atop it. "“Oh, that today you would hear his voice: ‘Harden not your hearts.’”(Hebrews 3:15) Many also forget that he sent forth the apostles to forgive sins. (John 20:21-23), and that the sins can be retained, they unscripturally confess directly to Jesus who said, ""Do not suppose that I came to bring peace to the earth: I did not come to bring peace but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) They reject God's plan and follow their own desires.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church,* and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.* Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
The only thing that makes sense for this is for the 'keys to the kingdom' to be the 'power to bind and loose' which includes sins, eg: the ability to hear confessions and forgive sins. By ceeding the authority to forgive sins to the apostles, he gave man a means by which to enter the presence of God, sinless and washed clean as when we are baptized.
"As the Father has sent me, even so I send you" (John 20:21)
However, that's just what I think the keys to the kingdom are. Many attempt to claim it's all scripture, I think that's 'reading all in one', or trying to make one thing everything and reading too much into it. It's an attempt to elevate scripture from what it is, training. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Timothy 3:16, to everything, to strip the power of the church and the apostles and claim it resides in a book.
As you can see in Revelation 3:7, in which Jesus is said to have the 'Key of David', a key is a reference to authority. I'm even reading right now someone saying that it's important that the rock is Jesus, not peter, both are important. Trying to take away the apostles place, to render them meaningless. Christ did not come to write a book but to found a church (Mathew 16:18) which the gates of hades would not prevail against, granted the authority to forgive sins, passing on the holy spirit. (Acts 8:17). We must remember Christ and we must also remember HOW he wanted us to remember him and to serve him. See that faith and action go together (James 2:22)
Moreover, as Bergsma said, the miracles christ performed were those which brought men to God. The foundation of the church is the same, and the need for the forgiveness of sins is the same. Sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2) If we confess directly to the lord, the very sins which keep him from hearing us (isiah again), how can we expect any response but that he never knew us. (Matthew 10:34) Christ came to save sinners, and the sick. 1 Timothy 1:15, so why would you expect that a church full of sinners called to salvation would be sinless?
You say we do err not knowing the scripture or the power of God? (Matthew 22:29) Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? I'll also disagree with below, it is not Jesus who preserves the church from error, it is the helper, the holy spirit who guides it whom Christ sent. (John 14:26) Do not quench the spirit (1 Thesselonians 5:19) And test all things (21)
Many men try to found a church upon the bible, to that I have two responses.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Response 2: Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.
Matthew 7:22 “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: Depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
Or maybe I'm conflating the connection. Either way, may you find salvation.
