“Muscle is temporary. So is life itself.” -Tom Platz
Mentzer inspire him
and the funny thing is that he still has huge legs
What does that mean
@@HemlataUgale you dont train to have immortal muscle but you train to see how good you can be before leaving this world. Time is the most expensive thing in this world if you dont use it like you want you Will die with regrets

God bless Tom. God Blessed Tom with that virus, probably, probably kepylt himself from going to hard too long abd being a cripple. But God bless them all.
same with jay cutler
Tom Platz looks amazing and to this day still does ATG squats with 300lb for reps. Not bad at all for a 68 year old.
Tom is a legend himself. I love him, he is so cool.
Yes he is@@Super_V12
That's very good, but, Vince McMahon was still doing Barbell Squats with over 400 lbs, for reps, at the age of 69..!!

Can’t expect bodybuilders to look peak all their lives, the flesh weakens with age. Respect to the athletes who had the fortitude to compete ✊🏼
I seriously don't understand this mindset. Why does "peak" equal the use of steroids etc. for you?
@@officialnoononNot sure if you’re replying to me or not but I agree with you. Most of us could only hope to look and perform that well at their ages.
Arnold still looks peak
@@BustaNAugusta Yes, I replied to you. What I mean is it sounds like you're calling their body physique "peak", but how can this be if they're using steroids and maybe testosterone supplements to outperform their actual peak? Granted, this only applies if they're not natural. That I of course don't know.
In case I misunderstood your words, and since you apparently agree with me (?), then don't worry about my comment.
It’s due to steroids. Their muscles aren’t real. They deflate like balloons, once they stop taking that stuff.

Ronnie's story is heartbreaking 💔 That really sucks that he's wheelchair bound after looking like a superhero for most of his life
He went on joe rogan and Joe was telling him he wishes he'd have tried stem cells. I wish he would have too because I think it might have saved him from all those surgeries. Some of them were basically unnecessary from the research I did.
Thats life. Everyone gets older.
It wasn't just getting older, it was pushing his body too hard for too long, and not knowing how to rest.
It's one thing to go heavy weight. It's another to go high reps. It's another to combine both and train that way for decades, all while Enhanced with a cocktail of different PED's, Repping weights that would make strongmen look twice.
The body can only grow so large and handle so much over a lifetime, but even then there's room for rehab. He broke his back on an 800# squat IIRC, then had surgery to fix his back. That's still manageable.
But he then broke it again *within a few weeks of the first time.* And so worsened the damage that was already there. He's broken it a number of times, leading to where he is now.
In the end, the drive to push through the pain and handle heavy weights through such high reps helped him to win. But it was also that mentality that crippled him.
I hear he is genuinely a nice man. Good to his core.
@@wilsonram39
Ronnie's form was terrible, it was absolutely UNNECESSARY for bodybuilding to lift that way.
Plenty of BBers achieve same results lifting SMART.
What happened is that he thought that (newly available) HGH will make his joints and tendons invincible. And perhaps it did, but perhaps spinal disks don't grow much stronger from HGH.
Tom looked great after retirement and continued to train pro bodybuilders..and has many great stories.of the golden era .
G. O. A. T Ronnie Coleman
He never looked the greatest bodybuilding was about symmetry and health which he has neither ,huge muscles yes ,no one in the sport is caring for these guys after their demise so these folk should be changing the rules and regulations.

Paul Dillett was a giant among giants!!! Legend! 💪🏾
Tom is still out there teaching and killing it.
Tom is still a beast
Dillet was a monster in his day.
In the early 90's Dillet showed up at my local Golds Gym, with Vince McMahon, Yates, a few other hyper humans and proceeded to bang more iron than I thought humanly possible. Their size in person is mind blowing!
Tom the quadfather , put some respect on his name G
Tom in this days he still looks good❤
Paul dillets physique was legendary, probably even ahead of its time
A real mass monster. Problems with prep. Appearing on stage, amazing or miss the target, and require medical attention and fluids.
That’s true though he could have handled those better, his build and genetics were just kinda crazy and resembles a more modern bodybuilder
@@JoelCakirer Won the genetic lottery. Blessed. Modern type build and aesthetics.

“You have to achieve failure” -Tom Platz
Tom looks good and he is alive, a very good final.
Not a body builder, although I do enjoy working out.
I experienced a total body cramp. I was helping a friend move and was sweating but didn't think much about it. My fingers, toes, back, legs, arms everything started locking up. I could only take very small steps but if I stopped it got worse. I drank 4 of the larger gatorade and 2 reg bottles of water within a hour.
For a hour or more I was almost in tears. I have never cried from pain but brother that was as wicked as it gets.
Stay safe and strong brothers.
I can relate. Years ago, I did bodybuilding. One time I sat down to do some seated rows. As planned, I added some extra weight, to push a bit harder. Unfortunately it was one plate too many. A couple came up, waiting to get in, so I forced myself through a few reps, due to ego training, and not wanting to look weak (despite lifting far heavier than they would have been.)
The result was tearing a muscle, under the trapezius. It was the second worse pain I've had in my life. It felt like giant hooks through the muscle and it took years to heal (if it actually has healed.)
@jublywubly wow, sorry that happened!
That's why I like to train alone. There is no pressure to do more than I can handle.
lifting heavy didn't put Ronnie in a wheelchair, a botched spinal surgery did cmon people
Lol wouldn't need the surgery if didn't go so heavy

Dillett actually retired around 2002-2003, not 2012. He had a one-off appearance in 2006 at a show, but in reality he barely competed after 1999. He was the freak of all freaks in his prime, Paul's physique in 1993 and 1994 was unmatched in history.
There are still some bodybuilders in their 70s looking really good and they use to be in the Mr Olympia contest. Arnold Schwarzenegger is still training everyday although he's skinny you still training and then his late seventies🙏
Lol he isn't skinny please. He's only smaller which is pretty normal because he's much older now
Arnold fell apart after he retired..he got fat and had a heart attack and liver problems... he's currently in a good workout routine,..but is anything but skinny.😮
@@UgwuanyiEmmanuel1 and prob of roids
@@mslice09 He only got fat several years after retiring from BD, I mean literal decades! He looked good for most of his acting career, smaller than his BD days, but much better than the average guy. Also where's your proof that he had "liver problems"? And the heart issues he had was due to a health condition he had since birth. With him getting older, it just got to the point where surgical intervention needed to happen. You make it seem as if he got fat right after retiring from BD and it's simply not true
@@chaosaintme9067 Arnold did get out of shape during his acting career but is currently working at it. ..it is common knowledge that he's had health problems due to steroid abuse as almost every Olympia retired bodybuilder has faced . We need a top 10 of bodybuilders which didn't change much after retirement, that would show who was natural.

Ronnie varies from day to day. Sometimes he lifts weights, while other times he can't walk far or climb steps without assistance.
Ronnie have had almost 3 liver transplants now. Btw

To ALL of the bodybuilders of the world. You get NOTHING but R.E.S.P.E.C.T. from me and all who adore you. 😇🖤✊️
My take on the video was it was rather disrespectful to show former bbrs like that and I innerstand but to a degree. There is ALWAYS a downside of injuries or side effects of overexertion. But there was no need to present the video like that. That's all I am saying. 😇❤️✊️
When I started working out I was asked whether I want to take steroids the first week. It turned out that literally every person at the gym who looks absolutely jacked taked a whole coctail of chemicals like selective androgen receptor modulators and MK-677, pumping themselves with amphetamine-like stimulants before training. A have a good friend who used to be a model and took photos with half naked girls. He has health problems now with 33 y.o. because of all the chemicals he was using. In the meanwhile, my dad is 86 y.o. and grew up on land, he is strong but that is not visible from the outside; the thing is, with 86 he is travelling with me abroad to camp in wilderness and go on fishing trips.
This stuff is not worth it. The obsession with looks is not healthy.

No way. Tom had midget proportions. Wide waist and narrow shoulders that definitely did not benefit from his big head. Absolutely no V taper. Not aesthetically pleasing at all. Thats why he didnt win an Olympia. He was in the wrong field. He shouldve stayed in powerlifting.

Bodybuilding, like any physical pursuit, can be considered temporary for several reasons:
1. **Peak Physical Condition:** Bodybuilders often push their bodies to extreme limits to achieve a certain physique for competitions or personal goals. Maintaining this peak condition, which often involves strict dieting, intense training, and supplementation, can be unsustainable in the long term.
2. **Aging:** As we age, our bodies naturally undergo changes that can make it more challenging to maintain the same level of muscle mass and definition achieved during the peak of bodybuilding efforts. Hormonal changes, decreased metabolism, and other factors can all play a role in this.
3. **Injuries:** The intense training and heavy lifting involved in bodybuilding can increase the risk of injuries over time. These injuries can impact a bodybuilder's ability to train effectively, leading to muscle loss and potentially altering their physique.
4. **Lifestyle Changes:** Bodybuilding often requires a significant time commitment, strict dietary adherence, and a focused lifestyle. As priorities change or life circumstances evolve, individuals may find it difficult to maintain the same level of dedication to bodybuilding.
5. **Health Concerns:** Extreme bodybuilding practices, such as excessive use of performance-enhancing drugs or extreme dieting, can have negative effects on long-term health. These practices can lead to issues such as hormonal imbalances, organ damage, and other health complications.
While bodybuilding can be a rewarding pursuit that promotes discipline, physical fitness, and self-confidence, it is important to approach it with a balanced perspective and consider the potential long-term implications on both physical and mental well-being. Many bodybuilders transition to more sustainable training approaches or adjust their goals as they age to prioritize overall health and longevity. 🤷♂️
Tom is actually still super jacked his legs are still insane at 69 years old
Tom Platz went from looking like a younger version of himself, to looking like an older version of himself.
So moral of the story. Dont juice and fuck heavy lifting
You make it out like these guys have transformed into something that we should be shocked at. They've just aged, but still look better than others of a similar age. Even though Ronnie uses a wheelchair, the guy is carrying way more muscle than any of us. Please don't do a disservice to these guys, they all looked insane at their peak and still look great now
Should have shown Markus Rühl from Germany. Dude still looks like a beast
Ronnie Coleman should be telling people stop look at me
Tom went from looking like 25 to 80 after just 55 short years. Truly sad
Bottom line is, if you don't take any risks you'll never know your full potential 👏👏👏
A ton of 60s-80s bodybuilders looked great all the way into very old age. This kinda stuff is just to make people with low self esteem feel good about themselves. Still incredible what they achieved.
I love 'n respect body builders like Ronnie Colman
All that weight lifting really breaks you down.
I wish all these body builders would talk about how hard the addiction with steroids is. How they feel when they are on steroids and how they feel when they finally get off it for good. And how much addiction played a part in their life with other vices.
That would be a good documentary.
Not just with body builders, but with all steroid users, such as actors, athletes and so called fitness experts or influencers.
It's insane how different these guys look after years of no lifting
Does anyone remember Lyle Alzado? Alzado was one of the first major US sports figures to admit to using anabolic steroids. In the last year of his life, as he battled against the brain tumor which eventually caused his death, Alzado asserted that his steroid abuse directly led to his fatal illness. 1949-1992 RIP
It's like I don't know which to believe: the consensus among medical professionals that steroids don't cause brain tumors, or the deathbed ravings of somebody with no scientific background and a malfunctioning damaged brain.
Dont work too hard, cause work wont end, the person will end

Ronnie needs to contact DDP. Seriously, DDP has done some amazing things with people through his DDP Yoga program. Butterbean is one of his more notable success stories. He was in a wheelchair and couldn't stand up straight. But, now he's in great health.
