Timeless comedy. I've seen it dozens of times and still laughed my ass off on how perfect the facial expressions are and how well composed the whole scene is.
even tho bud has gone , they both still can make ones day with all their spagetti westerns they did through the years , bud spencer passed but never ever forgotten . and its just like you say , timeless their movies .

This scene would not be the same without the actor who brilliantly plays the part of wild card Hendricks. I love his facial expressions when he shuffles the cards, when he tries to make sense of the first slap session, and when he tries his hardest to concentrate before the second slap session.
Fun fact, it was not performed by the actor, but the hands you see shuffling are Tony Binarelli's hands, who was at that time a very famous italian magician

I was 11 when this movie hit the theaters. One of days i can clearly remember in my childhood. Me and my brother were used to seeing john wayne westerns. We fell out of our chairs with laughter watching this movie. Been a trinity fan ever since. These guys were great. Westerns really got interesting with clint eastwood movies and the unforgettable Blazing Saddles that was the best slapstick western of all time.
In the movie Midnight Express the turkish lawyer does the same expression of shrugging his head as to say ”don’t worry about that prosecutor’s speech”.
Damn, these movies were awesome. Been a long time since I've watched them, they will always be classics. Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill are a duo that can never be beat.
I am 54 now and I have been watching this movie since I was 12 years old and year to date. I still love this movie. Amazing actors to shoot was amazing and watch this all day.

There is so much about this movie, particularly this scene, that you don't catch until you've watched it dozens of times. This is the mark of a great movie. For example, when Wild Card Hendricks heads for the door, pay attention to the three guys to the right of the doorway - the barkeep, the busboy, and a drunk. The two others run when Hendricks turns to fire and has his weapon shot out of his hand, but the drunk says what the Hell and keeps drinking. Classic movie.
Just for the sakes of it these movies were completely Italian, with Italian actors (Terenzo Collina and Bruno Pedersoli AKA Terence Hill and Bud Spencer), interior scenes were all shot in Cinecittà-Roma and in both card trick scenes the hands are of 1970s Italian magician Tony Binarelli :-)

I remember seeing this Scene and I couldn't stop laughing at the theater in 1971, as I could now 53 years later! Terrence Hill was always on top as a movie star in the 1970's.
No cgi BS just a reverse scene, they filmed the cards dropping and played it backwards so it looks like the cards are going up lol Awesome camera angles here between the players faces and the card's they have !!

Another thing is that his 4th ace was the second card that he drew. So if the fella with 4 sevens had decided to discard his 5th card hoping for a high card then the 4th ace would have been the first card trinity would have drawn. But without looking at it he knew where it was.

He didn't know his cards nor his opponents and thus didn't play 2) He asked to see what cards the other guy had for a reason 3) He stacked the deck during his shuffle routine and even checked to see if it was correct 4) He took the cut half and put it back on top without anyone noticing 5) He gave everyone the exact cards they wanted and made sure they would stay in for maximum damage 6) He was called a cheat and basically said to the other cheater "of course I did numbskulls" 7) He did all of the above... and never looked at a single card that was in his hand untill the final reveal and then didn't reveal the last card at that. Shows he was in total control of his surroundings at all times without saying a word, brilliant filmography.
These guys are the models in my life. Some folk wanted to be part of the 'Brady Bunch Family'...I always wanted to be the third little brother to the right and left hand of the Devil.
Used to watch these as a young boy with My father, great saturdays afternoons, may he rest in peace .
