This is a good and interesting video. It reminds me of the Queen album Made in Heaven, where the band took several of Freddie’s solo songs and made them full band.
"Do You Know, Do You Care". "Do You Remember". And of course the one Phil said he presented to the band - "In the Air Tonight"
We know that we will have no more Genesis "new" album. It could be great if Tony and Mike did an album "Phil by Genesis" working on 10-12 Phil songs !
So so cool!!!
"droned" reminds me the instrumental interlude from Behind the lines & Duchess.
How about songs with Phil on drums like Ace of Wands, Bad Love, Woman in Chains and Intruder?
Great video idea. Thanks!!
I think it "I Wish It Would Rain Down" because of the blues element to it that Mike might have been interested.
I always thought No Jacket Required and Invisible Touch went well together. I always kinda wanted to hear I Don't Wanna Know on Invisible Touch
I'd say the same about But Seriously and We Can't Dance
True.
“There Must Be Some Other Way” on “Calling All Stations” reminds me a lot of “Do You Know, Do You Care.”
I hear that!
Inside out
👍
@@EverythingPhilCollins I agree at all. I think that Inside out it could have been an Abacab song .
I Dont Care Anymore, though sparse might be worked into a Mama type piece with Tony involved.
Agree!!
@@EverythingPhilCollins I agree!
I was just thinking, Tony's 'This Is Love' would have been a great Genesis song. With Tony singing it of course. I think it would have given the band an added dimension to have that one song to prove that Phil never took the band over. He would have loved sitting back playing drums on it.
Interesting! Good point!
Ill go one step further and off the subject. The Mike and the Mechanics song "Taken In" was originally going to be recorded as a Genesis song, but they felt like they couldn't pull the song off live perhaps. Not sure of the full story, but I read up a bit on that tidbit.
Interesting…..
@@EverythingPhilCollinsactually no I am incorrect on the song title, it was supposed to be the song “A Call To Arms” as a Genesis song on their 1983 album.
We wait and we wonder.
Ooo that’s a good one!!!
Anything from No Jacket Required would have been great Genesis songs.
👍
Colours (Colors)
Agree!
@@EverythingPhilCollins it has a Dodo/Lurker, Home by the sea, Domino feel to it.
This suggestion is really out there, I know, but I think Behind The Lines would be a pretty good Genesis track.
You’re outta your mind!! However I do think Tomorrow Never Knows would’ve made a great Beatles song…
Inside Out. Oughta Know By Now. Big Noise/Rat Race. The West Side. The Least You Can Do.
Nice ones!!
Interesting choices. I think "Both Sides of the Story" and "Oughta Know by Now" would also be strong contenders as well.
Love the idea of Oughta know by now!!
I know they're both post-Genesis Phil, which is why they were not considered, but they have that Genesis vibe.
I really can’t see any of Phil’s Solo songs to go through the Genesis filter. It’s like whose your favorite kid kind of thing. They all have meaning. And just the fact that Phil didn’t want any involvement with “anyone” during “Both Sides” that’ll x out the “We Fly so close” debate. It’s a Phil Collins tune that he doesn’t own anymore due to the huge payout they had. I still cannot believe that all your life’s work gone. Now sitting somewhere collecting dust probably. I really thought once they sold it off there’d be stuff coming out. That’s my take on the whole Phil➡️Genesis.
Quick question for you. Did you do a genesis ➡️Phil or is that coming?? Great stuff as always. Don’t hurt the fly Scott!! Your friend Bill
Yes I think it’s out there a few months ago!
For me:
DYKDYC
I don’t care anymore
In the air tonight
Inside out
Love it!!
I was shure your no 1 was gonna be "Both Sides"
Thru These Walls would not of been out of a place on a Genesis album I think.
Totally!!
I think Phil didn't feature the other Genesis members on his solo stuff to almost protect the band. The more foundational pieces of Genesis are featured in his solo career, the more Genesis would be swallowed by it.
Can't Find My Way from Both Sides would have made a great Genesis song.
Smart one!!!
I'm not sure if it's going to be included but I always wondered what I don't care anymore would sound as a genesis song since on that song it's Phil playing all the instruments besides Daryl playing guitar so I wondered if it was a Genesis song if Mike and Tony playing bass and keyboards would change the song up drastically at all
"Wear My Hat" has "I Can't Dance" vibes.
I think it has this vibe -

Yah sorta !!
@@EverythingPhilCollins I really like "Wear My Hat," particularly the live versions. I know some people aren't too keen on it, but it's a fun song!
Droned and Hand in Hand, i would guess both of these progressed though different lengths during composition... they feel like leftovers from Genesis jams anyway.
Happy you did not swallow a bug.
Thanks :)
Kinda why did there simgle side gigs.
None of them, Steve and Tony wrote the classic Genesis compositions.
Feeding the fire. A bside from invisible. Was cool but didn't fot
Fit sorry
What about 'Cant Turn Back the Years', thats another 'moody' one....
Agree!!
