As if if I do not use the correct string gauge, I would be slain. And so, I run away. Far from my computer. Then I realize, oh wait. It's Nik's channel. And so I press resume. Like the video. Right now im using Drop A, but honestly i lost a lot of songs that i perfectly played before but with the transpositions made some of them felt strange to play. Principally the ones who use a lot of "normal chords" and clean notes.
I think i need to get a 7 string one to at least recover my higher notes from before (a lot of solos lost too because of that). Problem is i dont know where start to get a 7 string guitar, dont even know how to tune that to mantain my lower note in drop A like i use nowadays.

Been away for years. It is just bizarre to me modern metal riffing has become a Meshuggah cover riff competition. I love Mesguggah, especially the 90s albums. They were so odd at the time I could not get my other metalhead friends to even get into them. Also the modeling amps are awsome. No more needing an expensive tube amp and cab.

    My modern metalcore stereotypes:
    1) double drop = vanished bass
    2) production is as soft and smooth as possible
    3) sad lyrics
    4) octave riffs = chords are not welcome here
    5) creepy ambiance (which i love the most)

I like modern metalcore a lot more than the late ‘90s-mid ‘00s core. The focus has shifted from shredding and speed to atmosphere and the power of a single note. Maybe it’s a little homogenised, and that’s a problem, but the focus on minimalism is easy to imitate, and it makes us appreciate the truly daring bands even more (periphery, northlane, loathe, lotus eater etc...)
Plus, what other metal subgenres can carry essence of prog, death, nu and dad metal?

As a guitar player I’ve always been fascinated by Metalcore and Melodic Metal bands because of really how it seems to take what would be synth riffs and make it guitar (maybe im offbase). But I don’t really listen to newer metalcore stuff, mostly what I listened to was KsE. The architects stuff sounds pretty cool. The stuff afterwards where its just time signature abnormalities is obviously cool, but when that makes up a song’s entirety I can see why it might turn some people off.

    The Limbo - idk
    The Nu-Chug - Wage War
That Part We Can't Play Live - Has some Jason Richardson vibes, but that'd be a lie because HE CAN PLAY IT LIVE. HOW?!
Clean Singing - A lot of metalcore bands nowadays, though I feel like As I Lay Dying likes this one
Alright, Split This Room - idk either
    Alpha AF - Alpha Wolf
    GTFO - Monuments
    Chromatic Chaos - Periphery
Sorry, our guitarist came in too early - After the Burial
Dad Rock - Asking Alexandria, to some extent I guess...
