    Regina is the capital and second largest city of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is in the eastern prairie region of Western Canada. It is nicknamed "The Queen City" because it was named after Queen Victoria, i.e. Victoria Regina, in 1882, by her daughter Princess Louise, who was the wife of the then-Governor General the Marquess of Lorne.
    Regina was also previously the seat of government for the North-West Territories, which were once formed part of today's Saskatchewan and Alberta provinces, and also of the District of Assiniboia. Regina is expected to enter a new period of strong economic growth due to Saskatchewan's agricultural and mineral resources coming into new demand.
    The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League are the only professional sports team in Regina. They play their home games in Regina at Mosaic Stadium. Regina also has the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League and the University of Regina's Regina Cougars/Regina Rams of the CIS.

    They are planting more trees on Victoria Avenue. People whined about it. More trees are a good thing. There should be way more even.

    Another excellent video, I had never seen Regina before. I also love that your videos are quite long and thorough (not 10-15min like some other driving videos on UA-cam). Do you take suggestions? :) I'd really like to see driving videos in smaller towns as well--while there are many videos of the big cities (NY, LA, Toronto, etc. etc.) it would be nice to see small towns as well, some of which can be quite charming and relaxing. Thanks for all your uploads.

    No matter the location, wherever cities or towns on plains or prairies are built, they always look so dreary. So much empty space lets the 'settlement' sprawl out and there's not much density, those two factors, and the lack of trees, creates this really dull vibe to everything. Driven through the prairies countless times and it's something I never look forward to, lol.

      Idk calgary definitely isnt a depressing prairie city. But then again, its right by the mountains

    • @dougridgway7570
      @dougridgway7570 3 роки тому +2

      Funny enough, as a prairie boy I get claustrophobic in the mountains and woods. A few times I’ve driven to Vancouver and immediately felt better once I looked at the flatness of the ocean.

    • @Whatdoingdog44

      @@jadens4124 compared to other major cities Calgary is kind of depressing for example downtown Calgary is not that dense a lot of space between builds for parking lots and lacks trees. Every prairie city looks the same in spots from this video it looked like a bit of Winnipeg Calgary Edmonton and oddly Ottawa in one spot. Which isn't bad I guess only thing imo is missing for this downtown is a few more newer builds plant some trees and it would look a lot nicer. They have the older builds which is key in helping with character and also newer builds which help deliver a sense of progress. This is honestly one of the nicer prairie downtowns. Still needs some work but worlds ahead of Edmonton and Saskatoon both look like post soviet hell holes. I like brutalism but damn not every building needs to be grey. When you destroy history like those two cities did in the 70s you lose a lot of character.

      @@ganeshr008 finding a job for someone with education should not be hard in Regina limited education it gets harder not so many labor jobs around the city is nice the people are nice there is two bad neighborhoods one is way worse then the other though that's called north central bad things happen there and it's dirty but the rest of the city is nice Wascana is the place to be never been to the beach yet apparently you gotta drive to get there the city is small so it isn't to polluted you leave the city in any direction you are outta there in like 10 mins baby go do that at night and see the stars the ever living skies make sure it's not cloudy though I swear every clear night is like an observatory I moved out rural just to watch it all day! Try to hang out rural a bit if you get the chance it's so easy to get to.
