Edmontons downtown and river valley is a real hidden gem for this city. It's a pity more tourists don't visit our city or see it's true character. Sadly, the pandemic and oil depression has really gutted down town but it still manages to hold most of it's beauty. The Stantech Tower and new Oilers Arena with winter garden is a real gem added to the city. We just need more iconic architecture in the city and not just boxes and pyramids. Thank god for the wonderfully landscaped legislature grounds. I love spending my lunch hours there.
Can you drive around or show university of alberta . I think many would be curious as lot of students come down so they might be interested in seeing one
The city looks so clean and nice, high buildings and big streets. I feel that i'm there, it makes me feel very happy to chill on my bad and watch this video. Thank you very much!
The about a half a min into the video to 1 min 17 seconds he drives past the local homeless shelter. The camera is too dark to see the big group of crack heads that hang along the right side of that road lol
Thank you for uploading this video. I applied to NAIT which is located in Edmonton but I can't go there because of COVID-19. I'm really glad to see the city through your video. Nobody can tell me when I can study at NAIT but I hope I can go there early next year. Thank you again for your great work!
I studied in Concordia High School and U of A in early 80s during the heyday of Oilers, doing a lot of biking along the banks of the river, went to see numerous rock concerts in Northland Coliseum, saw a lot of art house movies (incl. The Songs Remain the Same!) in a tiny old theatre on Whyte Ave. Edmonton and Canada taught me to open your heart and mind, be helpful, friendly and courteous, and to be a good citizen, not bad for a guy from Hong Kong, thank you Edmonton with love.
As a Mexican-American from Orlando, Florida, and who has only ever visited Vancouver and Victoria, I'm really interested in all the different Canadian regions and cities. Yes, that far north it's obviously going to get really cold for many months...but the summers and springs must be beautiful. Orlando, Florida is just hot and humid pretty much all year long.
As someone living in Edmonton, it's 50/50 for a dry season, 2019 was pretty dry, especially closer to the country side. This February it reached -50°c at night. The coldest it's been in a while. After living in Edmonton my whole life I tend to have some nitpicks with it. But it's home, and I have lots of good and bad memories here. 😉
Great video. Best video I've seen of Edmonton downtown and surrounding area. Born and raised here. Love Edmonton. Beautiful city. It's a big city that's not too big. 1.5 million people. You are a 3 and 1/2 hour drive from Jasper, Alberta - a gorgeous town in the Rocky Mountains. Our green traffic light structures in downtown Edmonton on Jasper Ave are the same light structures that Jasper has in their downtown, or, originally had. Edmonton has started building taller towers downtown since closing the downtown airport which is just north of everything you saw in this video. All towers downtown had to be a certain height because of air flight coming in and out of downtown for years. That is why you see a lot buildings quite short on the West side of downtown. And in the core of downtown, the limit was about 33 stories while that airport was open. Since then, more towers have been built higher than that including the Stantec Tower which is 70 stories.
I watch this video over and over. Reminding me the beautiful city and the politeness of ETS bus drivers. Hoping I can go back there again someday and stay for a week or two. But not in the winter :) Thanks for sharing, dude.
J-sus...... I left Edmonton Dec 1995 and came to the US. I see a city I do not recognize with certain landmarks in between that are familiar... that city has CHANGED.
The biggest changes downtown all happened recently with the ice district and the arena really starting it all. Now theres tons of new developments awaiting approval
It's a beautiful drive! Rented a car for 2 days, while my daughter visited the West Edmonton Mall during our incredible trip across Canada on VIA RAIL, 2004...the University campus is beautifully landscaped.
It would be cool if you had a small map at the bottom of the screen that acts as a real time GPS so we can see where these places are relative to the city.
Nice place. I am in Vancouver and I truly appreciate this video since I have never been to Edmonton. But why is the road asphalt "street texture" all damaged?
Wow to think I've driven down all of these streets, and walked around the Rogers place Arena one late night with friends. The city is beautiful at night, sad that I live on the edge of the city....
Same I live in downtown and now it's just full of homeless drug addicts at night and at day it's dead. nothing new but I guess thats most Downtown cities
Your description is inaccurate. Edmonton is in the parkland, not prairie, biome. Parkland is an ecotone (transition zone) between prairie and boreal forest.
Thank you for your great video. Edmonton looks so beautiful. Would you mind if you share some information about Edmonton please?? I've been thinking to move to Edmonton/Alberta from Ontario. Life is really hard nowadays in Ontario. House prices and went up and it's hard to afford it here. I am just wondering if it's possible to get a job easily in Edmonton. Also, how expensive is a one bedroom Condo there or rent. Thank you.
wow...this is so so much better than calgary. EDM is alberta's first city, no doubt about it. Residential districts have an almost european flair. Many pretty older streets that have maintained their charm. Nice valley next to downtown. City built to a human scale...I like.

The place is georgeous. Never realized Edmonton is so beautiful, well all of canada is beautiful anyways.
The river value in summer is delightful.

Where are you from? Edmonton is not bad, however, when I think of "high buildings" my mind goes to Toronto!
Beautiful, beautiful place...
