I love u guys. I am new at producing. I sing, write, am a musician, and am in process of creating, mixing and mastering my own music. Devvon your videos have helped me so much. I think u are a dope artist.
This podcast is my go to for the audio conversation space. I love the ideas and opinions that come out do this show. Also, LJ is running the superior DAW 👑🤣
Feels great to know that I know something extra that my no. 1 teacher Devvon doesn't know. We have learned a lot from you and we are willing to payback by teaching you how to produce in FL 21 for free. Payback time 😅.. Be patient with FL please. You will love it!!

Studio Project C1 is a dope mic!! I've been using it since 2007 at my home studio. I don't think they make it anymore. The C1 going into an ART Tube MP recording into Cool Edit Pro 2.1 is legendary to me!
7:27 you're definitely just used to the pro tools workflow man cause back when i first started producing i had to take a whole day to learn how get the sound working but instantly made a beat in FL
I was taught if you take your car to a mechanics with better knowledge of fixing cars on any car with a cheaper price over a newer mechanic who just graduated and charging a higher price for higher price vehicles which he only been taught to fix on you will always get the best and better service rather spending a lot of money trying to keep up with what someone says is good for you and that you should get, same with Mics or any studio equipment. Know your sound and what you are going for with your music.
Devvon trippin FL is goated for production. Adding plugins can be tedious but once you have, the organization options for the plugin menu are solid. I love PT for tracking/mixing tho. And the AT2020 is never goin anywhere lol. That mic is a right of passage.
@@primee5730 I don't use the AT2020 or have one anymore. I just meant a lot of ppl will lol. I use the TLM 102 right now but I heard good things of Aston. Might have to add them to the collection. They look nice too 💯

The ultimate hood setup I've ever had: PC with no external audio interface, with a desktop usb mic(the one that looks like a big ass pen)-I would put a clean sock on it as a pop filter because the plosives were OD LOL. And I had regular ass computer speakers(the 2.1 setup) with the 2 speakers and the sub. The DAW I was using at the time was Adobe Audition(Cool Edit Pro) lol. Alternative setup I had when I first got a Macbook Pro(2006-2007 All aluminum body lol) with out having an audio interface or mic was just use the onboard mic on the laptop itself lol. Crazy times.
I got the BLUE BABY BOTTLE best 400 i've spent ever. this mic is CRAZY GOOD. ima grab the l22 next, my homie got one and it is INSANE (and glows in the dark lol).
Ok I have an extremely important question. So after I record and mix my song I like to group everything and turn them down for head room so when I print, I can take that print to master it. Do you include the parallel compression along with the sends when turning everything down. Or do you leave the parallel compression alone and turn down the vocals, beat and the delay sends? I need to know. It's been messing with me.
I personally print everything. I send the parallels and fx into an audio track(stereo of course) and record it. Then disable and mute the tracks with the fx. Then send everything into a mix bus and print to stereo track
@@noisepollutionmuzic oh, my bad got you. Don't turn anything down individually. Just turn down the bus you're printing from. I've also learned that even if my master bus is clipped during printing it doesn't affect the print. You can also turn off your master output(I can in Studio One at least) so it won't psyche you out
@@nobodyspecialmusic No I group them and turn them down until they hit at least 18 LUFS. I was just wondering if there was a parallel compression send if it shouldn't be touched when turning everything down or what
There’s no right way to route your busses. It’s preference. But I definitely have my 2 cents on it. Some ppl route their parallel comp to an FX bus, and some ppl route it to their vox bus. Some ppl route it straight to their mix bus. I personally think you should route your parallel comp to your vox bus. I go as far to create a bus that has just my vox and parallel, because I want to route that to my verb and delay sends, rather than routing the signal from the vox pre parallel comp to my verb and delay sends. Whether or not you wanna route it to sub bus prior to summing all your vox or not, you should route your parallel comp to your vox bus, if you’re using the bus to level the fader. Imagine if you turned the volume on your vox bus all the way down. You wouldn’t hear the vox at all. You’d only hear the parallel comp. So you’re completely changing the blend between your vox and parallel comp. When you set the level of the send to your parallel comp, your effectively using it like a mix knob to blend your vox and parallel comp. So you don’t wanna then turn down just the vox without turning down the parallel and equal amount. So that’s why you should sum them into a bus. Imo, you should sum just those 2 signals together into a bus prior to even summing all your vox into a vox bus.
Thenatan Devil saturation plugin is fire also like the Tape Piano but I agree the rest of the bundle is kind of mid but for like $20 it ain’t that bad….
