Used to be into bodybuilding in my late teens till about 30. Did PEDs, which I’m sorry for now. It’s a beauty pageant IMO. Workout to better yourself and live for your family.
Female here. Love this topic that isn't widely discussed. Thank you. I would like to hear about external modesty in the fitness world if you're brave enough to touch on that subject.
One thing that helps me stay grounded in Christ is to go to daily Mass. How can someone have the audacity to say that doesn't have time for daily mass but doesn't skip those four to five sessions a week and around 2 hours per session. Also offering the workout with a prayer beforehand. If you go with a buddy both pray so Jesus is in your midst. And finally avoid the vain habits of looking at yourself in the mirror and wearing fitted shirts that show off your muscles. If you are married, the eyes of your wife should be the only ones to see your sculpted chest, not hundreds of followers on Instagram.
Agree, look only at the mirror to thank God for what you have and to see where you can improve. Present yourself well with good clothes to glorify the body God gave us, not to satisfy your own pride.
I am Roman Catholic. I try to live modestly. I don’t like buying expensive stuff to show off. I don’t want anything material that other people covet. I try to share my money with others. One of my faults is wanting to be ripped and buff. I have worked out since 1979. It reached an apex during my 30 years in the military. I still enjoy women telling me that it looks like I workout. That is one my many sins Vanity
Progressive overload to increase in strength and muscle mass is good. However the over consumption of food and or taking steroids for the purpose of bulking is simply envy coveting gluttony and vainglory.
Doesn't seem enough hours in the day working out going to the gym and waiting on equipment. - I quit lifting and started running which I can do from home ,but working 12 hour days and hour drive home every night which the running slowly fell off also.
Doesn't have to be bodybuilding, it's physical training. Different thing. Do UFC fighters look like bodybuilders? Usually not. Don't neglect cardio. An intense circuit workout with explosive compounds and running will make for a good athletic physique.
What other questions do you have about Bodybuilding as a Catholic? Let me know in the comments!
Lent (fasting) in combination with heavy labour and/or excercising/lifting.

Also, checking how is your prayer life. If you care more about lifting than praying: reconsider your priorities

What is Catholic bodybuilding and how’s it different than Baptist Body Building?

Just fyi
Still working on typeform 😂
@@CameronRiecker 😂 I'll send some prayers -- and maybe a framework haha
His strength standards are way off. Every man absolutely should not be able to squat 2x bodyweight.
lol I can’t yet!
@CameronRiecker other than that Im here for it 👍🏼
Right, I keep hearing that 1x BW bench, 1.5 X BW Squat and 2 x BW deadlift put you in the top 1%
@raivokruks9974 yeah I wouldn't doubt that at all.
