Takes a lot of guts to leave behind something you committed to in order move towards a new adventure. Your staff dinner looked delicious. Best of luck to you, Ryan.
Good on you for making the change. I made a similar choice last year being a military chef at 30, decided to try something completely new and become a Data Analyst. A few weeks ago I got an apprenticeship at a large company, anything is possible but only you can make that happen.
I've been there 13 years ago, I have never been happier. While I do miss it, the pay will never be the same as other jobs out there. Unless you are a head chef/owner
Wow! So what’s next? I am new to watching your videos! I’ve seen a few. I love cooking and so rewarding to cook and must be so rewarding seeing your menu come alive?
I nearly followed the same path as you Ryan. In would’ve found myself in exactly the same dilemma too. It’s not an easy life, but I found another way. You will too.
It was a pleasure to watch you work my friend. There was a very satisfying vibe that came with your culinary expertise. I know that your talent and work ethic will bring you success in whatever comes next!
Hey from Germany!!! I know it was hard work but to watch you while cooking like that is indeed a very calming experience. I‘m gay (too) and always love your vlogs together. Wish you all the best for your future!!!! Please stay authentic like you are. Looking forward to learn more about the art of cooking from you. I‘m coffee addicted just as you and absolutely love to cook for my loved ones too. So i‘m sure there are tons of things that you can teach us in the future. Thanks a lot for this nightly Upload! Now i‘m going to sleep… Regards over the ocean!
You look so natural and confident in this environment. And, in a way I can see how it can be a grind from prep to execution. My parents owned a restaurant and I helped them once when I went back home to visit them. I was there at 5a with my dad and I would start prepping (for hours) helping the dishwashers and pitching so the staff could take breaks. At the end of the day (11p) I was beat to sh-t. My father and mother did this 6 days a week. On Sunday, when the restaurant was closed, they would stock up for the restaurant. It was their life together. Not mine. 😬 It’s a hard life. I hope you find something new and as rewarding and satisfying as your last career. Good luck 👍🙏😎

And your knees will be in good shape in 30’years vs. had you stayed. Squatting down to get items out of the reefers is a killer on your knees.
Staff meal: reminds me of the few chefs on the "Below Deck" charter yachts who have complained about having to cook for the cabin crew.
Loved it! Hope it goes well with Coffee Ryan!
What a long hours to stand. Congrats with the future plan. Cheers!
The thing about kitchens is that some day everyone moves on but the love doesn't go anywhere
