This interview crosses into great journalism. What a fantastic look into the true life of a wrestling star at that time in it's history. It breaks your heart to hear Matt tell his story and at the same time know what a problem he was to the industry. In the right hands his story would make a great movie to see.
It's really interesting to hear someone matter of fact say yeah I had dirty urine, yeah I was smoking weed, yeah I was doing coke. So much of this is him owning what he did. Yeah there's pointing out Bam Bam called it in but it's mostly an admission of maybe I should've been fired. And not many people reach that level of honesty
@@paulbenoit6076 lmao you probably from Idaho and think Marijuana kills your brain, while having a stepdad who drinks vodka every night and fights yo mama 😂
It’s too bad he couldn’t break free of his demons. Unfortunately, gone too soon because of addiction. As others have said seems like a very decent guy.
I actually got to know Matt Osborne for a short time in the late 2000s (not long before this interview was shot) while he was living in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, and had gotten clean (though, sadly, he eventually relapsed). At that time, he was working hard to build a better relationship with his two kids. Matt loved to share stories of his wrestling days with friends and listen to fans' recollections of Doink. He was very candid when talking about himself and the wrestling business, and I learned a lot from him. Matt really liked that I was also familiar with the independent wrestling scene in the Pacific Northwest, where he was originally from. He had a lot of wrestler friends there. Matt was cool and personable when clean, but I'd also heard about how he could be outright volatile and destructive while under the influence of drugs. I'm just glad that I never personally experienced his latter side. It's just unfortunate that Matt's story didn't have a happier ending. 🙁 RIP Matt Borne/Doink/Big Josh.
I'd like to know what was the beef he had with Jim Duggan. I've heard they had issues when they were both wrestling in Mid-South, but nothing specific. They had a match on the independent circuit (they were both in their mid-50s) i think. He attacked Duggan in a what turned into a shoot match. Borne supposedly had all his stuff packed before the match and took off immediately after before Duggan could hunt him down in the dressing room. The match is on YT, easy to find.
If you look at that match again, find where Duggan sold anything for Bourne. He didn't. Duggan wanted to treat it as a squash match which would reduce Doink's value on the independent circuit to a jobber. Less money down the road. Doink was trying to protect his spot on future cards. Obviously, Duggan had a problem with him from the past. Duggan wasn't a good guy there either.
@@firstname5138 Yeah, and if you look at the point before Borne shins Duggan in the face, the way they fall, it kinda looks like Duggan is going for top position, trying to flatten Borne out, and maybe looking for a choke or something. I don't think he was, but that's what it would have felt like to Borne.
We shot that match between Borne and Duggan, it's here on Title Match. If you watch you'll see Doink taking 100% of Hacksaw's offense. He went out of his way to make Jim look good in the match. However the moment Borne went for his own offense, Dugan refused to sell and shut it down. That's what caused the problem & they already had heat from their Mid-South days (after being part of the Rat Pack together)
@@TitleMatchWrestling I've read reports that Duggan had been drinking alcohol throughout that afternoon and was sloppy drunk going into the match. Watching the video, that does appear pretty evident to me. This likely further contributed to Duggan's uncooperativeness with selling and Borne's overall frustration.
Nobody in the business has a single good thing to say about Borne. Bam Bam has a lot of good. I'm sorry Borne passed. I mean no disrespect to the dead. But you can't believe a word out of this guys mouth
@@arthurmorgan7086yeah I’m not buying Matt’s version. He’s causing all this turmoil backstage and yet he’s fired for smoking weed? I wasn’t there but I get the feeling he’s leaving something out or telling a half truth

His version of Doink was so amazing
Yep, and a pretty good wrestler as well.
A tough but honest interview.

Heel Doink was awesome. Matt Borne was a great heel Doink.
OG MATT BORNE AKA DOINK THE CLOWN#1
(REST IN PEACE)
2:21 great advice from doink.
Matt was so underrated as a wrestler, a very interesting person and probably was the best at taking a silly gimmick and making the most of it
I here a lot of old wrestlers weren’t fond of borne, but every interview I ever here with him he seems like a good dude. I don’t know
Hear, not here.
#RIPMattBourne
He seems like a decent guy when he wasn't using 😢
Looking back at it Doink the clown wasnt so bad after all
So far ahead of his time. Evil clown I think would definitely get over today
Thanks!!
The most underrated wrestler of all. A brilliant in ring talent with a brilliant gimmick ahead of its time. RIP M.B. aka Doink.

Accountability. It's what's missing from the people of today
Snitching over weed is lame. Bam bam was a 🐀
Not sure I believe it.
How about just don’t get high?
@paulbenoit6076 we are all different.

His feud v Crush was brilliant. Initially was upset when he attacked Crush. But when both stars switched heel and face changed my tune. Praised Doink😂
Matt was a underrated wrestler who made a silly gimmick magical. Rest in peace Matt

Duggan never sold for anybody most of the time. Such an awful awful wrestler. No idea why he got over like he did. Stupid USA chants & Ho!

That background is wobbly.
Too Damn Wobbly
Matt Borne was known as Big Josh in WCW, and held the six-man tag team titles with Dustin Rhodes and Tom Zenk.... believe it, or not!!!!😂❤😊
The apartment he lived in in Columbus, Ohio was Greenbriar. It was a mixed race housing project, notorious drug location. I'll leave it there.
lol you work at WWF but you snort coke in the hood.
So he was donating food to the poor
They are there
I really dislike this truth but matt felt it too. Idk, just ramblin.
Heel DOINK was the best
Lol, Yes, Matt Osbourne's Doink heel clown was incredible. But the real bad guy was Matt Borne, what a true bad guy.
Facts
The sign in the background needs to stay the fu*k still! Great vid tho 😂
Bam bam snitched? Thought he was a 1% biker before wrestling.
Sounds like a "he said, he said" type of argument. I also thought Bam Bam isn't the type to snitch people out

I highly doubt Bam Bam would snitch on anyone. Now Borne...he was just an absolute scumbag.
Only in his story line.
Hello
Cocaine is a helluva drug
Fired?
3oz of ❄️ 👀
Days upon days upon days
He's like a short haired Bret Hart.
He’s completely the opposite of Bret in most every way lol
Whaaaat are you smokin’ particularly??
@xjf459 my hewo is the bestest westest 🥺
Amazing how so many of these great performers just throw it all away because of getting high
He looks like Al borlin on home improvement
Sucks about addiction……but terrible father alert
Took him a month to get through 3 ounces of blow ? Amateur😅
I know.
That's only like two and a half grams a day.
Lightweight.
He really is a 🤡
Disclaimer: No cocaine was harmed during the making of this interview!!
Yeah but after... Oh boy!
What an absolute f up of a human being. I just have zero sympathy for a second generation wrestler that is that unprofessional.
