Seelenwinter 666 To each HIS own. I detest Metallica. Daves songwriting is simply SUPERIOR to Metallica. James has sucked since the Black album. ahhh wellll. Metallica have been a parody since Master...
Dave´s voice fits this music perfectly; There is some punk in his voice...passionate, angry, gritty....love it...Love Metallica, but Megadeth speaks ta me a bit more ! More Van Halen, Megadeth, and Metallica Fellas..come on !!
That drummer is Nick Menza....and all lead vocals are Mustaine. The backup vocals are Bassist David Ellefson. You guys own! Thank you for your honesty, open mindedness and sweet insight!
Marty Friedman, the guitarist that was in Megadeth on that era once said that every solo he records is basically improvised (he also said it can took just a few takes or a lot o them to finally get one everyone likes). But solos like that just says how creative that man was/is.
this solo wasn't improvised lol. he even has said that he spent a long time writing it. he's a fantastic artist but nobody just improvises a solo like this.
@@ballbustinbravo I heard from other source that he didn't spent too much time with that solo really, but Dave Mustaine was so damn impressed when he heard him playing it first time in the studio.
Yeah, I see your point. I'm not a huge fan of Hangar 18 myself though, I dig Polaris and Lucretia more. "Train of Consequences" would be a good pick though, since it'd be cool for them to discover a different side of Megadeth. "Symphony of Destruction" would also be an interesting choice.
I am SO happy I found this channel. I am a musician of 20+ years and seeing you two react to these classic songs I have heard millions of times brings me right back to when I first did. I have so much love for you guys and hope that one day you will be reacting to my material! Edit: Fundamental Process - Beyond Creation (This is an 'extreme' metal song but very very melodic and amazing with the transitions so I think you will love it.
Swiggy, have you seen WeabooReacts channel? Not to take away from these guys, love this channel too, Weaboo's passion comes through in such an infectious way. I really think you'd like him as well.
Ryan@ 6:09 "Duuuude...c'mon!" That one phrase sums up the voice that pops up in everyone's head every time we have something musical that touches that true, authentic, core feeling that makes us love metal in the first place. I love seeing your reactions and watching metal turn you into believers. Horns up guys 🤘
New metal bands don't play solos like that anymore because its HARD. Not just to play fast but to play fast and sound good. It take practice LOTS of practice. Sure their are talented guitarists out there but it ain't like it used to be. I could go on and on about this subject but I'll leave it at I don't care much for most of the the popular metal that makes it to the radio anymore because you never hear that passion anymore. A solo like that lets you know this guy lived with that guitar spent thousands of hours alone trying to get faster, cleaner, just plain better at his art. A ton of people can write a riff that will make you bang your head, make you smile and go hell yeah that sounds good but so few can write a solo that just kicks your ass and makes you go holy shit how did he do that. What I mean is on one hand you have great bands like Tool and Rage against the Machine (both of whom I love a lot). But Adam Jones and Tom Morello are gear geeks they use tons of effects and weird toys to get cool sounds from their instrument which does take talent and I like their sound, but I can learn their songs and solos (if you can call them that) in and hour or less. It usually takes me longer to get my effects right to match their sound than it takes to learn the song. On the other hand you have the raw skill of people like Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen, or Darrell Abbott(r.i.p. Randy and Dimebag). All they needed was a little distortion and maybe a wah-wah and they could melt your face and it takes me weeks to learn to play their music I think I took me a month to get the first 2 minutes of "Cowboys from Hell" to sound like I wasn't trying to kill someone by shoving a guitar up their ass. Oh and finally there is a third category for people like Yinvae Malmstine that have to skill to play damn near anything as fast and technical as one could imagine, but in the end everything they write just sounds like garbage at least to me it does. I like to call it "musical jacking off" their like I can play real fast and clean so I'm gunna play so fast you can't tell that I can't write anything pretty. Wow well thats my rant for the day I'm gunna relax then come back and proof read this... p.s. great video keep it up guys, and cheers to you!
Good luck bro its a tough one, but I felt like after I got it down it was a great exercise to keep my finger dexterity up. Their might be better exercises for this but they don't sound as cool!
Yeah I feel the same way. His vocals aren’t bad, just take a second to adjust to rather but the instrumentation and deliveries among other things makes up for it.
@@LazyGuyCoyote I used to find Megadeth nearly unlistenable because of his voice. The funny thing is, this is the song that actually made me start liking it.
The Freakin Table I believe it takes a certain song to turn someone into a fan. It just allows that person to understand what they’re all about in a way. But not only that I feel the same way, I didn’t like anything, I heard holy wars and I was like.. okay this is something. Then I found symphony of destruction, then hangar 18 and so on. Good stuff
Daves voice didn't sound like the other songs they have reacted of megadeth. I listened to megadeth for hours as a kid when they first started and his voice does sound different in this song
Marty Friedman is one of the finest players to grace the world of thrash metal, His work solo and with Jason Becker is sick, His playing is and always with Mustaine will always be my number one duo in Megadeth, Chris Poland was bloody awesome also and the current guy Kiko is stunningly good and from all the lead players since Marty Friedman, Kiko nails Marty's solo parts better than any of his predecessors bar Marty himself obviously. The Mustaine is no slouch either and on that album in particular as a fan is to Me about as close to perfect as is possible \m/
Mustaine impressed me by having to relearn guitar after his injury. To not only get TO the level they were at, but to get back there after having that taken away from you, bravo, dave.
When you guys get really excited about a song I am bouncing right along with you! That was Dave singing, the difference is in Holy Wars he's using throat voice and this one is more head voice. It's quite an amazing range what one voice can do with different techniques.
Dave has never been much of a singer, however, that has never stopped me from enjoying Megadeth. It took me some time to get into his vocals though and I am sure you will too.
I agree with you. I don;t think he is one of the better singers in metal at all. I was only mentioning to the guys that this was an example of the range a voice can have using different singing techniques.
Charles Hendrix Shit singer I agree ..very good role player though and to be sure, one of the best band leaders of all time. 75+% of musicians fail in covering a Megadeth song.
megadeth are really good at writing a riff and then falling into a pocket and coming up with several variations on that riff and seamlessly hopping between those variations while never falling out of the pocket.
@@dimkent6659 Yep! Mega Dave is probably the single most under-rated Metal God of all time, both for his insane guitar ability and his incredible musical creativity.
Mastodon - Oblivion next? As far as heavy modern bands who have amazing guitar solos, I'd say Mastodon is right at the top of the heap. Bluesy, crunchy goodness. And an insane drummer. And three vocals. I think Oblivion is a good entry point into their music.
Could not agree more to this. I've requested this a few times myself, but the first time I've seen someone else do so. Gives me hope we'll see it later now
Another shout out for Opeth - Ghost of Perdition OR Harlequin Forest. If you like seamless transitions, truly masterful instrumentation, and a well put together song, Opeth definitely will not disappoint.
I agree Hanger 18 but maybe switch it up with some 80's Megadeth and last rites / love you to death would be a perfect change up. Please everybody agree.
Watching you guys become metal heads these past couple years has truly been a treat and an honor, metal has been given a bad reputation due to the satanic panic of the 80's and radio exec's not playing a majority of the metal music that exists due to "moral concerns". Metal was bringing up the issues of environmentalism, social justice, corporate greed, and political corruption over 30 years before anyone even considered them real issues, Metal has ALWAYS been political and it is reflected by its listeners who are(for the most part) intelligent, thoughtful, well educated people who are open to anyone(regardless of race, creed, or color) who enjoys the music, energy, and message of metal. Once metal enters you heart it never leaves, it changes you and your perspective on the world. Welcome to the community gentlemen, you are one of us now.
Megadeth is about the Guitar. Musicians appreciate Megadeth more than non musicians because musicians understand the talent involve and the innovations Megadeth brings to Metal. They are Metal Masters.
especially once you know what Dave is bringing to the table lol both lead vocals and lead guitar, his guitar work is legendary of course but then to sing with that is another thing completely
Yes !!! Try to play and sing the rhythm I Dare you... Then play half the solos while singing . for over 30 years. yes Dave Mustaine Metal God! Fuck Anything or Anyone Metalillica !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMO.
The fact that they both tried to keep headbanging during the solo, but at some point stopped and just had a dumbfounded expression each, speaks volumes. Everyone that's ever heard this song/solo has experienced the same.
James has a more powerful voice, but for some reason I like the snarl that Dave has in his voice - it sounds like he's still pissed off when he sings..
Hangar 18 is kind of a must really after doing both Tornado of Souls and Holy Wars. They could do most of that entire album, coz it was an AWESOME album from beginning to end.
BATTIS94 Megadeth wouldn't be Megdeth without him. Funny you have a Metallica logo and you are ripping on someone who has more skill than all of Metallica combined.... I'm an old school Metallica fan but come on, they are out classed here and in many other songs. If cliff had not died him and Dave would have had a wicked band... oh wait Dave already has had that for 30 years with jr....
Fabian Garcia thats not how I took it. It was a diss of his vocals. Uniqueness is what differentiates the best heavy metal bands from the masses. You dont have to sound a certain way as long as all of the pieces mesh together into something epic, memorable, head banging, etc. Megadeth epidomizes this.
See? Everyone can be a metal fans once you understand what does it mean to produce an 80's metal song. So much talent that you just have to respect it and move your head.

Guillaume M Truer words were never spoken. Dave's voice works ONLY 4 Mega D. period.
Seelenwinter 666 To each HIS own. I detest Metallica. Daves songwriting is simply SUPERIOR to Metallica. James has sucked since the Black album. ahhh wellll. Metallica have been a parody since Master...
Seelenwinter 666 U know nothing about quality metal songwriting!!! Nothing...U fukking Troll.
Dave´s voice fits this music perfectly; There is some punk in his voice...passionate, angry, gritty....love it...Love Metallica, but Megadeth speaks ta me a bit more ! More Van Halen, Megadeth, and Metallica Fellas..come on !!
Law Dawg yep Megaderh has always hit me better than Metallica. I love them both but just like Megadeth better
sounds speed up slightly to avoid copyright this sounds like a more shrill Dave than its original form.
I think its not sped up. If im recalling it correctly there is a version online with 1 or half tone up to avoid copyrights
totally agree his voice has aggression
That was crazy guitar solo I’ve ever heard. There’s speed, emotional, blues and even chaos in it. Nobody will create that again after hundred year.
Nick Menza at his best!!!
RIP Nick
he was a beast
The lack of drum fills made the musicality of his drumming suffer. It's very bland.
Amen....He was a phenomenal drummer!!!
That drummer is Nick Menza....and all lead vocals are Mustaine. The backup vocals are Bassist David Ellefson.
You guys own! Thank you for your honesty, open mindedness and sweet insight!
RIP Nick Menza
How do you forget to mention Marty Friedman? I'm not trying to be rude but wow.
May Nick Menza Rust in Peace
tornado of souls is one of the best solos in metal history !
omglolzbbqsauce that's a fact jack!
In HISTORY.
I can’t express the joy I’m experiencing watching outsiders of metal appreciating the enormous skill involved, especially regarding Megadeth.
@@ballbustinbravo EVH did improvise a lot
@@ballbustinbravo I heard from other source that he didn't spent too much time with that solo really, but Dave Mustaine was so damn impressed when he heard him playing it first time in the studio.
@@ballbustinbravo Tornado of Souls was improvised. Marty himself said in his IAmA in Reddit and his website also states the same.
@@ballbustinbravo Guthrie Govan improvises 99% of his solos.
MEGADETH: HANGAR 18! NEXT!
speaking of some good shredding dude!!! YEAH!!!!!
They're not gonna like that one.
BrewNCode
agreed
Really, three songs from the same album? I'd vote for "Peace sells"!
You guys are so unique with the reactions, and honest, and it really sets the bar for the other 'reaction' channels. I have so much love for you guys and hope that one day you will be reacting to my material!
Edit: Fundamental Process - Beyond Creation (This is an 'extreme' metal song but very very melodic and amazing with the transitions so I think you will love it.
Thumbs up for Beyond Creation material... but they may be not ready for it.
I went to their concert on this last "Dystopia" tour. I sat there and soaked in the technical mastery. Even more incredible to see in person.
Swiggy, have you seen WeabooReacts channel? Not to take away from these guys, love this channel too, Weaboo's passion comes through in such an infectious way. I really think you'd like him as well.
This was going to be my exact comment. Watching people experience and appreciate something you've treasured for years is fantastic.
This is the exact same for me! I've really loved watching two music lovers dive back into my favorites.
U guys are officially ready for - Hangar 18-
HAHAHA TOTALLY!
Tornado of souls = best solo ever
Kiwi Conor Marty is sick on this track!
All hail marty!
Marty is a fucking legend
Keldrif Darkflame 100% agree. Well said and glad others recognized this. Why bands like megadeth will always be up at the top.
This guy knows...
You nailed it, well said.
Good luck bro its a tough one, but I felt like after I got it down it was a great exercise to keep my finger dexterity up. Their might be better exercises for this but they don't sound as cool!
Well, Morello has great solos with Alter Bridge
You can’t react bad, when you have such a serious look of Dave Mustaine behind your back:)
hahahahaha yes Dave's voice takes some getting used to.
Definitely an acquired taste. I like it :)
Don't forget Randy Rhodes he is a legend
Mustaine impressed me by having to relearn guitar after his injury. To not only get TO the level they were at, but to get back there after having that taken away from you, bravo, dave.
dude, Chris Brodericks no slouch....he nails the solos too
Nekro Dean Sardonic Wrath agree 100 percent..I really wish dave and kiko hooked up years ago..they really have great chemistry
Marty is great. I saw him live a few days ago in a small club. Great show.
That dave impersonation killed me 🤣
tornadoo
I love how he sings, it's so perfect for the music
RIP Nick Menza - good to see the appreciation
RIP. Still makes me sad
For great solos, try Hangar 18 or Wake Up Dead
Erdal Yoluak this has my favorite megadeth solo
wake up dead for maximum groove
Erdal Yoluak Wake Up Dead! Best ever!
When you guys get really excited about a song I am bouncing right along with you! That was Dave singing, the difference is in Holy Wars he's using throat voice and this one is more head voice. It's quite an amazing range what one voice can do with different techniques.
LuthienC Mustaine has one of the worst voices in Metal history. I can't enjoy Megadeth at all because of his "singing"
Charles Hendrix
Shit singer I agree ..very good role player though and to be sure, one of the best band leaders of all time. 75+% of musicians fail in covering a Megadeth song.
"...and if that was Dave, it was making up for the vocals."
*Dave Mustaine wants to know your location*
megadeth are really good at writing a riff and then falling into a pocket and coming up with several variations on that riff and seamlessly hopping between those variations while never falling out of the pocket.
That’s so true!
Dave Noel perfectly put man. Freakish musicians. Almost reminds me of jazz at times.
Well... you 're talking about Dave here! :)
@@dimkent6659 Yep! Mega Dave is probably the single most under-rated Metal God of all time, both for his insane guitar ability and his incredible musical creativity.
Megadeth songs are very hard to play cleanly. Dave got crazy alt picking skills.
Domination by Pantera. Super heavy breakdown and amazing solo
Dimes solos were great because they had melody. It wasn't just speed diddleing for 8 measures.
Wh2mbarz you got that right!!!
UP
Would love to see their reaction to the end of that tune.
It’s hard to pick just one Pantera song given the groove and amazing solos present in a lot of their songs but Domination is definitely a good start.
Great video, guys!
Hangar 18 but complete song, not official video! - Megadeth lml
6:08 "Dude Come on" - I love watching these guys "get it". 30 years later sounds better than ever and it's awesome to watch these guys react...
Stefan Stojanovic Gotta be The Wolf Is Loose!!! Oh mannnn!!
Could not agree more to this. I've requested this a few times myself, but the first time I've seen someone else do so. Gives me hope we'll see it later now
Oblivion yes!
Yes to this
Oblivion would be a good choice. Dry Bone Valley hooked me.
Peace Sells...But Who’s Buying...
Please. The "transitions" will blow you away and the political message is deep
This!
That bass! Oh yeah.
Another shout out for Opeth - Ghost of Perdition OR Harlequin Forest.
If you like seamless transitions, truly masterful instrumentation, and a well put together song, Opeth definitely will not disappoint.
Very difficult solos - Marty Friedman
Difficult solos - Dave Mustaine
😎👏🏼👍🏼👊🏼
Like Dave said once in an interview. Marty plays with love and I play with hate.
Hangar 18 for the next Megadeth one! So many riffs and solos
And the riffs AND the solos at the same time! Rust In Peace is pretty much power/thrash guitar perfection.
Hell yeah!
I agree Hanger 18 but maybe switch it up with some 80's Megadeth and last rites / love you to death would be a perfect change up. Please everybody agree.
Megadeth Hangar 18 please!!!
Hangar 18 or Peace Sells both, by Megadeth
And drums. As a guitarist, I love those Take No Prisoners riffs but man.. those drums in Rust In Peace...Polaris make me forget the rest of the band.
especially once you know what Dave is bringing to the table lol both lead vocals and lead guitar, his guitar work is legendary of course but then to sing with that is another thing completely
indeed!
Yes !!! Try to play and sing the rhythm I Dare you... Then play half the solos while singing . for over 30 years. yes Dave Mustaine Metal God! Fuck Anything or Anyone Metalillica !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMO.
Rust In Peace by Megadeth. Everything that is amazing about Megadeth encompassed in a single song.
TORNADO OF SOULS IS FLAWLESS MEGADETH
The fact that they both tried to keep headbanging during the solo, but at some point stopped and just had a dumbfounded expression each, speaks volumes.
Everyone that's ever heard this song/solo has experienced the same.
You're headbanging hard till you realize what you're actually hearing
It' like....maaaaaaaan.....
DAAAMN that was insane
Lucretia! great tune. literally mind blowing!
I know a girl from around the way with the name 'Lucretia' lol.
+Lost In Vegas lmao you're kidding
I get how your not fans of Dave's voice in this one, but after listening to it multiple times, I can't think of a better voice for this song!
justaburgscousin
U said it best!
justaburgscousin Especially in the last verse before the solo, "My future looks so bright, I think I've seen the light"
Dave's voice is certainly an adquired taste
Dio would have rocked this song
or any song in general
Dude, u guys need to listen FULL ALBUMS. Rust in Peace is a master peace, start to the end, 10/10.
Could you imagine their reaction to "Take No Prisoners"? I can just see it, it'd be fuckin hilarious (in an awesome way)
Also thinking that they need to let full albums ride.
raizarslaxterhaha Five Magicks doesn't get enough love. Everybody talks about Tornado and Hangar but not Five
I love 5 magics. Hell the hole Rust in peace album is legendary!
I love you guys! I appreciate you listen to all kinds of music and give honest reactions. You see it as it is. You guys rock!
HANGAR 18!!!!
The most beautiful Solo you will ever hear is on Return to Serenity by Testament. Alex Skolnick is a guitar god.
So underrated that song and solo are legendary The Ballad is also a good one.
5:20 Yes, this song is about Mustaine's ex-girlfriend Dianna
MIZORAM - Mafaka Hnamte
I thought it was about drug abuse, but im maybe wrong.
Adrian Muñoz definitely about Daves ex.
The same Dianna he mentions in "Wake Up Dead"?
I always thought this song was about a nasty breakup.
yes, last rites, wake up dead, in my darkest hour, tornado of souls, trust, all this songs are about diana
That guitar solo has its own Fan club😅!
Seriously, it does 😳 .
You are right on the money.
Awesome! You guys need to do Pantera - Domination (Live) From the Monsters of Rock concert in Russia! Phenomenal guitar work from Dimebag Darrell! RIP
Marty Friedman’s solo was arguably one of the best guitar solos they produced. Technically challenging, melodious, raw and intense.
Robert Ross one of the best recorded solos period IMO
The most technical awesome solo ever!
Marty has written a lot of technically great pieces.
along with Lucretia, off the same album! :D
Exactly🎸
Megadeth Ashes in your mouth a very under rated song
Small Caps Very much under rated. 🤘🏼
One of their best, if not their best song.
I was thinking the same.. The Best song from Megadeth highly underated
so good
Definitely my favorite song! It's an absolute masterpiece
I always loved Dave’s voice right from the word ‘go’. Totally unique.
Marty Friedman's and IMHO the best solo in metal ever played/recorded.
08:26 hahahaha sorry guys, it wasn't Dave playing the solo - it was Marty Friedman ;)
It does have a lot of the classic Dave stuff though, until it gets to the second half with all the arpeggios. I can see where the confusion happens.
Dave's singing takes some getting used to lol.
Tor-nei-douu
For sure
Terrible vocals.. James buries Dave on vocals .
James has a more powerful voice, but for some reason I like the snarl that Dave has in his voice - it sounds like he's still pissed off when he sings..
2682shark dave buries james on guitar
Love the way you guys get the stank face when you listen to metal. Y’all totally get it.
Megadeth - Conquer or die, this song is a fking BOOMB!! Nice react btw, very funny and entertaining.
Cheers from Brazil.
MrGrimmmJagger Nope Yes Kiko delivers an otherworldly solo on that track. It's like a perfect construct for a Megadeth solo.
I second Conquer or Die :)
Hangar 18 is kind of a must really after doing both Tornado of Souls and Holy Wars. They could do most of that entire album, coz it was an AWESOME album from beginning to end.
Yeah, Dave's voice is something else hahaha
BATTIS94 in a good way yes
BATTIS94 Megadeth wouldn't be Megdeth without him. Funny you have a Metallica logo and you are ripping on someone who has more skill than all of Metallica combined.... I'm an old school Metallica fan but come on, they are out classed here and in many other songs.
If cliff had not died him and Dave would have had a wicked band... oh wait Dave already has had that for 30 years with jr....
TheCrazyCanuck420 Geez chill out. Hes probably pointing out as unique, not bad. Stop instigating metallica vs megadeth shit.
@@grantfullerton5031 in the BEST way, ABSOLUTELY :) love Dave's voice!
See? Everyone can be a metal fans once you understand what does it mean to produce an 80's metal song. So much talent that you just have to respect it and move your head.
