A good example of an 11/8 song is actually "Whipping Post" by The Allman Brothers Band, but it takes it more with a 3+3+3+2 approach during the breaks and intro instead of a 4+4+3.
Skrting on the Surface by The Smile brought me here. Excellent video!!
Same here :) I finally figured out from listening and now here to understand the ideas and variations
You deserve a lot more subs. No one takes the time to explain this beat as much as you did. Also please do suggest me a few songs that go in this beat. I've never heard of a song with one.
Im not sure but i think schism from tool is in 11/8
@@Miki-xh6fb the mv has to be the creepiest thing I've ever seen. Thank you though. Any other song ?
@@phlobotonum3170 The Eleven, Grateful Dead.
Super late, but if you're still around, check out 6 & 5 by Vasudeva!
i dont even play drums and this was super cool to watch haha! keep it up!
Skrting on the Surface by The Smile, which I heard was in 11/8, brought me here to find out more.
Sagat's theme. 👌🏽
Brilliant! No nonsense tuition, thank you
11/8 is great...so many good variations and ways to count...it becomes very interesting if you count it as triplets as well....one and a two and a three and a four and........put the snare on two and four.......then try differant snare hits..great video
Thanks for the excellent lesson!
Wow
Beautifully explained ❤
Awesome control 👌... Keep it up brother..
I don't know other will support u or not.. but I will support u brother.... Love frm India(Nagaland)
Was just listening to the song "Blockhead" by Devo and someone said it was 11/8 in the comments. So now I'm here to understand what's going on!
Hey dude, never heard of this song before so just checked it out. It’s in 11/8 🙂. That song is great fun though! Woah
cool exercise 👍 yeah fill 4 is my fave
great grooves
Very good video, thanks! 😉
Very nice explaneited
whoops! in the first demo at about the one minute mark, you're doing 2 semiquavers and a quaver as the last 3 notes, so it's actually 10/8....all good in the main bit.
Oh yeah... haha. My B. Thank you for watching regardless and I hope that the 10/8 and 11/8 grooves come into your playing 🙂. On the upside, you just got 2 time sigs for the price of one 🙃
Question. so its just 3 extra 8th notes then? i can spread them within the measure? kinda new to drums
Hey dude, in this example it’s just 3 8th notes tagged onto the end. This is a very basic way of looking at 11/8 🙂
A cogent explanation, but who's playing the cowbell?
Metronome
bad counting. you have to count exact beats to be open make tons of motives.
Weak effort
