    Getting tired of this protein argument. How about some maggots? Pound for pound, there is more protein in them than in beef. (Learned that from Bear Grylls show...)
    Good interview though- think this might be a perhaps better way to talk to some people about veganism in future videos- By putting the microphone in their hands they obviously feel far more comfortable asking you guys questions about veganism, rather than you asking them questions, which can make some feel they need to be on the defence, so not as open to listening to your points. Great method :D

    Some "food" for thought: If you're ever in that hypothetical situation where you have to eat an animal to survive, I would think that a vegan would consider that just as abhorrent as eating a human -- especially since vegans don't consider animals as "food" or ours to eat. I personally would rather starve and pass on to the next life than descend into such depravity that goes against morals, simply to live a few more days or weeks. And just think, killing and eating an animal would be one of your last acts on earth...! Certainly wouldn't read well on your vegan tombstone.
    Now, have some people eaten other people to survive after, say, a plane crash in a blizzard? Yes, but most "meat-eaters" would be too repulsed to do so, as I would hope vegans would also. Besides, if there's animals around, you can probably bet vegetation is available somewhere too.

    • @orpheusowlallearthlingsmat6076
      @orpheusowlallearthlingsmat6076 8 років тому +4

      steve rodriguez Absolutely, sure, grass, why not. I'd rather see the question posed "If you had to eat a human to survive, would you?" Especially since vegans [should] value the lives of humans and animals equally, then why would it be okay to eat animals in "drastic" circumstances but not humans? Both are off limits to me ;)

    • @princefancybum4605
      @princefancybum4605 8 років тому +1

      Personally I would eat the animal, and the person if it meant I would survive. I'm not especially proud of I'm probably just a little to self obsessed to accept death

    • @orpheusowlallearthlingsmat6076
      @orpheusowlallearthlingsmat6076 8 років тому +2

      ***** Well, this is just me, but I've fasted for long periods of time so I'm not afraid to go without eating. You stop feeling hungry after awhile. I'm also not afraid to die & am in fact looking forward to the afterlife.
      Now in the movie Alive based on a true story, there were people who were starving but chose not to become cannibals, and they lapsed into comas then death pretty quickly. But the ones who ate the flesh had to live with the horror of what they'd done for a long time.

    • @facebones6610
      @facebones6610 8 років тому +1

      Kind of off topic, but im not really sure if vegans should value the lives of animals exactly equally. Even if the animals can suffer the same as us(meaning its shitty to eat them and cause them harm) were still on completely different levels. Just my opinion, i always see meat eaters getting mad about this type of thing so i just like to try to give a different perspective.

    • @princefancybum4605
      @princefancybum4605 8 років тому

      +steve rodriguez I admire your mindset but personally I can say from experience that my survival mode is very different from my normal, ethically minded self. I'm not saying I would just capture and kill wildlife as I'd try to live off vegetation and insect lava but if I wasn't able to consume enough to survive I'd definitely kill animals, although without equipment we are woefully unable to do this.

  • @gonewiththekale
    @gonewiththekale 8 років тому +18

    The way VR explained the field story-- it made me think how money separates us. If animals could exchange coin as man does, it would be a whole different planet. Isn't that sad? Makes me think of that horrid song, "Money makes the world go round." Compassion should be the thing that makes us all spin.

      daddaflex "Humanely slaughtered?" By whom, you? There is no such thing as that phrase in this industrial world any longer. What farming was 50 years ago no longer exists. That is extinct, at least in the USA and Canada (I cannot speak for Europe, yet I do know they are better). Even "organic" is a scam here when it comes to animal agriculture because they still use confinement, punishment and imprisonment. There are only a few Pastoral farms that I know of which DO try to respect the animal and allow them to live (somewhat) freely... however, in the end, the slaughter plants are all the same. As long as the animal farms live/work/thrive without an audit from the public, they have no reason to change (for the governments definitely allow them to act with impunity).

    This was actually a really good video to watch. I personally feel that some of these "vegan vs meat eaters" videos have a bit of a hidden agenda (no offence, do your thing, live your lifestyle. I fully respect that). This, however actually felt like a discussion, two sides separated by their opinions and i guess attempting to understand why the other side thinks the way they do. Even at the end the two guys openly said that they wouldn't convert to veganism but you were still thankful for their time and conversation. That's cool, i dig that shit. There should be more conversations where one party isn't trying to make another party look small or weaker than them, which is unfortunately the feeling i get when a youtube video involves a clash of opinions.

    The guy you interviewed in the beginning who made excuses for farmers breeding animals for economical reasons-- does he know about the dog meat farms in China, Vietnam, South Korea, Indonesia, etc? I mean, dogs are every day meat products to those countries, just as cows are to him. He should look up Yulin Festival or, most recently, Bok Nal in South Korea. People who get sick of their house pets have sold their dogs to those meat farmers. He should imagine his dog in those conditions. Horrific and no different that the same conditions any animal is induring in its misery waiting for human consumption.
    OK, I keep watching now... :)

    • @chrisroper5698
      @chrisroper5698 8 років тому +1

      Health changes come from what's in your diet, not from following a specific diet that's called something else. My point is that just "going vegan" won't necessarily change anything, in order to make a change you have to be getting the right nutrition. You have to check that you are getting optimal nutrition, and it is quite possible that you are not getting optimal nutrition. Use something like cronometer to check what you're getting. Also I'm no skin expert but I don't think diet alone can necessarily fix all skin issues, so it really depends on what problems you have ...

    • @taylamorris
      @taylamorris 8 років тому

      Chris Roper okay that helps a little. I normally use Fitness Pal. And I did get my labs done about 2 months ago now. They were fine... I'm just jealous of those getting clear skin haha. I've struggled with it most of my life... I will try to look deeper for whatever else I can do. I've been using apple cider vinegar on my skin, but I haven't noticed a major difference.

    • @chrisroper5698
      @chrisroper5698 8 років тому

      Yeah the issue is that fitness pal only gives you information about a few of the nutrients you need, sites like cronometer are more broad. Also in terms of blood tests, bear in mind they don't necessarily test for everything. Did you get any information on your zinc levels for example? That's a difficult one to test accurately as far as I know, but it's important for skin health (and lots of other stuff). Personally consuming high amounts of zinc helped clear my skin a lot.

    @vegananimall4156 7 років тому

    The hypothetical choosing between humans and animals is irrelevant fiction, so I wouldn't even entertain it, but I think you could be stronger if you are going to at all.... even if it was a life or death situation, I wouldn't chose a dog to die every time, and I would and have risked my own life to save animals. Animals are family. They bring about nothing but harmony

    Fantastic! Now I want to see more of these videos where the questions are coming from the other 'team', it feels they are more engaged. The 100th monkey - I've heard a couple of variations on the story. I have always believed it to mean that once a critical mass of people/animals realise something, then there is a widespread adoption of that practice or belief etc. The 100th monkey finally adopted the washing of the potato, and that somehow became the standard practice across all communities of this species. I hope it's a real phenomenon and that can happen i veganism!

    Got a theory, with religion in the west dying out does anyone else think that fundimental veganism and other similar movements kind of replace that need for belonging in a group with a similar belief system that religion provided to previous generations. Not knocking anybody who doesn't eat meat, i'm just referring to the vegans who take it way too seriously and almost treat it like a religion.

    Why is the vegan guy having his face covered? I think it seems pretty rude to hide your face through the whole interview, unless he made a bet or some shit like that it's not okay according to me and he should have taken it off.

    I think this is a way better way to confront meat eater rather than just tell them how horrible they are and what they do wrong. nobody wants to be told that they are a horibble person. nobody would think of veganism as a good thing after that. they will just shut down.to ask them this kind of passiv questions is a better way to might turn their mind around

    Its hard to believe that most people choose taste over ethics, values, and morals. They have ridiculous excuses to try to justify their actions. I used to be the same way but I was open minded and educated myself.

    Love your videos. I believe these types of conversations are so effective. Would love to see a video on tips of how to communicate with meat eaters.
