Are you speaking for Miguel Endara personally or are you just saying that speciesists might be offended that humans are being compared to animals? If that's what you're insinuating, that sounds like a personal superiority prejudice you need to resolve. There's no difference between what's done to animals against their will and what's done to humans against their will. It's the rhetoric AND the acts that need to be compared. They're both equally morally wrong and they equally suffer.
Its not prejudice, it is reasoned. I would save the human in the classic trolley problem before the animal, just as I would prevent the rape of a human before the animal. This indicates I place human life before animal life. And then how many animals must you place on the other side of the track before you kill the human? I don't think I can answer that so succinctly, or even at all, making a comparison difficult. However I concede that you can compare the acts themselves, as they are often the same if not similar to which we inflict on humans. But they are not morally equal as demonstrated above by the priority we place on human life. Also we know that degrees of suffering vary throughout the animal kingdom. As a side note to my earlier concession I don't think it effective activism to do this. As I'm sure many of us have experienced trying to do exactly what this video does in conversation only to be shouted down with "so you think one human life and one animal life is exactly the same!". These debates often lack the required nuance. Which is why I make sure I stress that, Im not comparing the two acts, but the rhetoric used to defend them (which I admit, is to mostly spare me the outrage). In reference to the video, I thought it was obvious, from the fictitious world to the rather direct translation of vegan arguments to "consensual", the point was to highlight the absurdity of the words used to justify their actions.
+Bob Bobby Because he's talking about reducing the unnecessary suffering of women while simultaneously causing the unnecessary suffering of other animals.
Also having that ending of shouting "Hypocrite!" can imply that although society is progressing (how the consensual guy has begin to realize that women do matter), society still has a long way of reducing unnecessary suffering (e.g. animal suffering).
If he was eating meat from a dead cow that has been raped for her milk while her baby is being murdered that would have been more of an impact and people would have make the connection with raping women...just sayin'

The cherry on top of this would have been if you used "but lions rape each other in the wild bro, I don't see you going around telling lions they're wrong"
I re-watched this after almost a year and it still leaves me shocked about the perfect analogy being drawn from "eating animals" to "raping women". Brilliant. This time, i also properly looked through the description box and.. there are "vegan" subtitles! The script, the acting, the cinematography, the message. Its just a great piece of work! Cant wait for other projects from Vidara Films! Thank you for making this!
The consensual guy in the video is a great advocate for the cause. And I bet he'd be delighted if his rapist friend wanted to come hang out at the consensual clubs just one night a week for starters. The smart consensual advocate would realize his friend would be likely to develop a taste for consensual sex if he were exposed to it once a week without any pressure besides his own conscience. Sure the consensual guy would prefer his friends went completely consensual, rather than just one day a week, but he is clearly smart enough to realize that a step in the right direction is a lot better than nothing, and could well lead to full conversion down the road, whereas an all or nothing attitude is less likely to have any results at all.
"Sure the consensual guy would prefer his friends went completely consensual, rather than just one day a week, but he is clearly smart enough to realize that a step in the right direction is a lot better than nothing, and could well lead to full conversion down the road, whereas an all or nothing attitude is less likely to have any results at all." That is an invalid argument. If you praise someone for going consensual one night a week without telling them that they now need to go consensual every other day, they'll either stay at consensual 1/7 or back to rape 7/7. This has already been proven to be the way it is in reality with Veganism. If you don't advocate for 7/7 consensual you get exactly what we have now, thousands of times more suffering this year than when this rape welfare movement started 200 years ago. Fantastic film, really well done! So very clever and thought provoking. We've reviewed this on our channel and hope to create more discussion around it. Thanks for your work 👍
Love y'all's channel! I'm so glad this video exists, and I hope non-vegans don't take immediate offense but start thinking more consciously about the choices they make. Sending my love from Hawai'i!
When you having a crap day cause someone's giving you shit for being vegan then you watch this and everything makes sense again. This is so powerful !!
"Ohhh false analogy! False analogy! They just compared raping women to eating meat!" Nope. They did not say that they are the same thing. They used the same kind of arguments deployed to defend a normalized behaviour of an unnecessary violent action.
@@swatiprakash6060 what, fish? I still have to see this happen. But I know that turkeys can’t even mate on their own because of their abnormally large bodies.
There is one thing though that is often not mentioned during these debates. And that is how it would be very difficult if not impossible to be a vegan at some places. Veganism can work well in big first world cities where most people have a decent income but it wouldn't be as feasible in a small town in Siberia for example.
This is absolutely brilliant. My partner shared this with me and said, "You'll like this". But I didn't like it, I loved it! The whole way through the video I was thinking, "Change the subject and this could be about veganism". Boy was I right. Amazing!
This is just perfect, as a vegan it's easy to recognise every analogy, this is what we get from animal-eaters on a daily basis. This puts in to perspective how awful it is to attempt to justify eating animals. This is genius! It's going to be huge
All it’s missing is, “Why can’t you just live and let live? I respect your choice not to rape, you should respect my choice to do it!” Unless there is something like that, I kind of remember one line about a “personal choice.”
As absurd as this might seem to you, as a vegan of over 3 years, this is exactly what it feels like to be vegan in a non-vegan world. I thought at the end the joke was going to be that in this alternate universe, being vegan is the norm. That would've been funny, but great work nonetheless. One of the best vegan short films I've ever seen.
"They even give them names" 😢 that hits deep. Feels like it's such a compassionate thing when a farmer gives their cows or sheep names, while it shows how deeply disturbed our sense of right and wrong is when it comes to non-human animals 😢
I always found it weird whenever I heard farmers naming animals that were going to end up as food. Like why are you personalizing this animal, you're going to kill it
The video is utterly brilliant. The script is flawlessly written to mimic the ordinary discussions we have to face in the world of carnism. Also a tip: 1. Listen is once without subtitles. 2. Activate US subtitles and play it again.

This short movie is amazing! Seriously one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen many when I was studying acting for film. The message is so powerful, I love how you guys presented it to the audience.
This is so brilliant and thought provoking. I had a similar conversation awhile back when someone was trying to justify killing animals based on things like intelligence, etc. I said "so it's okay to murder an infant because they're not as smart as you?" He didn't say anything. People will make up any excuse to try justify heinous acts. Thank you for this video.
Wow.... this is profound. Try watching without subtitles first, and then again with the US subtitles. It shows it in an amazing light. Brilliant concept.
@@leilam.6794 Yeah, you're right. The industrial-scale genocide of animals is probably far, far worse than the (in comparison) rare instances where humans get raped by other humans. The difference in scale is mind-bogglingly large. Anyways, the point of this video isn't to compare the two acts. It's to show how people will go to great lengths to defend normalized practices in society.
First of all, this is powerful af! Thank you for making such a fantastic short film. I initially found it on reddit where you referenced it as "what it feels like to be vegan in today's society" and drew parallels between the questions or assumptions that are aimed at vegans and aligned them to the idea of the legal rape of women. Really well done. This made a real impact ☄️
I laughed almost the whole time, not because of the grim subject, but because I've had to defend my stance over and over on every single one of these fronts. Amazing how identical they were able to pull this discussion off, just on a different subject matter which can bring to light the lack of logic hopefully for people who use these arguments whenever they interact with someone like me. Thanks for this
Man, I forgot how spot on this is at illustrating all the common behaviors and bad arguments you see when interacting with non-vegans. Expertly crafted.
So sad how realistic this is. I wish we could live in a world where people lived in line with their morals and didn't lash out at those who protest their actions.
Vidara Films went vegan shortly after watching this film. Your short film encouraged me to do my own research and develop an opinion for myself while surrounded by a community that is so anti vegan. Thank you for that.
As an aspiring filmmaker/media producer, work like this hypes me up sooooo much. Blending creativity with such an important cause, amazing! Well done everyone who took part in!!!!
This is so rhetorically beautiful. The allusions you guys made are just amazing. Any vegans watching this know exactly what the video is talking about. It sucks how this video is still so underground. I really hope this blows up because it's legitimately a work of art. It speaks so much with so few words. Absolutely stunning
Holy fucking shit, that first line from the drunk guy. What an incredible piece of art this is. Traumatizing, but great. How many times have I had this exact fucking conversation about animal rights? Beat for fucking beat. Go vegan, obviously.
i think i caught on relatively quickly that they weren't actually talking about rape but eating meat. and rather than tricking me into figuring out at the end that these two activities are similar in their horror, i found myself, very early on, looking for the catch as to what was really being discussed by the men. It's really well photographed and the writing and acting is outstanding. And i totally understand the message and why it's important to make huge comparisons to other things humans do that are horrible, but i just wanted it to be subtler. so i wasn't looking for the "catch" as early as i was in this. because it's pretty obvious early on that this isn't actually about rape, but something else. Maybe because the way rape was being discussed like it was normal part of a night on the town. and i know that the comparison for people who believe meat is murder is probably the same as killing animals for food or anything animal based. but regardless how i feel, this is really well done and i hope i makes the impact you guys want!
the meansheets Great response. There's some similarities. The argument for vegans saying cows are "raped" when referring to dairy or the meat industry is because the animal can't consent to the reproduction. They're not even sent out to a field to naturally reproduce. They're artificially inseminated by us, humans. Nature is so far removed from the convo, it's scary. I'm of the belief you can't call yourself a feminist if you consume animal products. The meat industry impregnates female cows against their will, steals and kills their babies if they're male, and prevent the female calves to feed so they can keep the milk for human consumption. Pretty violent stuff.
+TheJackel2rule The analogy isn't an exact mirror. Animals can't consent, but the point is ultimately that the "consensual," or "vegan," is respecting the rights of the "other" to not be fucked or eaten without consent. It's just about respecting the bodies of other living things and not just taking something from them because it feels good or gives us pleasure. Hope that helps!
I have rewatched this so many times and it wasn’t until just now I realised the card and attention that went into everything including the characters name. The agressive friend is called Hunter. Like a hunter, he is more violent and descriptive when talking about what’s he done and is more anti - consensual than Norm who is ok with it but doesn’t think it’s for him. Norm- as in “Normal”, reflects the views of the everyday person, the Normal person. Ben - (ok maybe not all the names)
Quite possibly the best pro-vegan video I have ever watched.
Nathan Gardner I totally dig your compelling arguments! Please, educate us more!
Nathan Gardner. Definitively the dumbest comment on UA-cam.
I knew I felt something extremely familiar about this conversation...
Kinda seemed like: "That's how meat eaters tend to respond to me".
The difference is is that God gave us animals to rule over and eat, while rape is obviously sinful.

same here - thanks for the recommendation!
So utterly powerful
This short movie is amazing! Seriously one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen many when I was studying acting for film. The message is so powerful, I love how you guys presented it to the audience.
This is genius, it's mad how similar this conversation is to a "why are you vegan?" one.
It's not genius. You could do this with loads of subjects.
silkface antinatalism
And it`s comparing rape with eating meat.
There is only really one vegan conversation... they are all the same
@@itsladyluna9528 yeah its comparing with slitting someone's throat and shooting them in the head for unnecessary reason to rape
The best video to make anyone go vegan or think about their food choices! I'm a woman and it touched my heart. I want to share it with others
Harsh, but precise. Great parallel. That "hypocrite" in the end tho... brilliant.
Wow.... this is profound. Try watching without subtitles first, and then again with the US subtitles. It shows it in an amazing light. Brilliant concept.
I'm calling it. This is going to be huge.
MrBirran it so is
Looks like you were wrong
This video is ahead of its time
this is fucking fantastic.
yeah it probably went well over your head.
ooops, ruined '666' likes
This is amazing, thank you so much for bringing attention to the horrible reality of speciesism. This really is our world.
GO VEGAN - YOU KNOW ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO
Vegan Pat Well said 🖒
No thanks I'm good
wtf no rape isn't the same as animal rights
@@leilam.6794 Yeah, you're right. The industrial-scale genocide of animals is probably far, far worse than the (in comparison) rare instances where humans get raped by other humans. The difference in scale is mind-bogglingly large.
Anyways, the point of this video isn't to compare the two acts. It's to show how people will go to great lengths to defend normalized practices in society.
I am a hunter,
Coming from a woman, this is so amazing!!! Please continue to make more videos like this! You have our support!
I love everything about this! Good job guys!
freaking amazing!!! the metaphor is incredibly clever and I absolutely love how they act.
Thanks for this
I admire intellectual honesty in people. May you be well.
This should have waaaay more views!
Holy shit, that was powerful. Excellent job, the acting, the script, all of it was 10/10.
Man, I forgot how spot on this is at illustrating all the common behaviors and bad arguments you see when interacting with non-vegans. Expertly crafted.
this is going to be interesting!!
**waits for rest of internet**
Amazing , spot on!!! Thanks to subtitles gonna share with my family!!! GOOD JOB MAN!
the end is the f*kn bomb :D but overall so well thought out and executed. that is some quality filmmaking.
fucking brilliant
Years later and I still think about this film. Great work!
"Hypocrite!" haha, yes.
Ah man, great video, this is exactly what it feels like when discussing veganism with carnists.
This video is a fucking masterpiece. No idea why it has so few views.
So sad how realistic this is. I wish we could live in a world where people lived in line with their morals and didn't lash out at those who protest their actions.
Powerful analogy and phenomenal acting! I will be sharing this far and wide! Thank you!
Simply a Masterpiece.
Wow, that was brilliant!
Hmmmm wow, very thought provoking. Thank you.
Coming to this video 3 months after I went vegan and I can’t believe how differently I feel about it now.
Music to our hears. Tell us more!
VeganGround Check out the channel The Young Filmmaker, for lots of inspiration and tips.
Each time I watch this video, I'm amazed by how great it is.
Thanks a lot !
Have you produced other short-films ?
Brilliant. Future generations will look in horror at how we attempted to justify the animal holocaust for so long.
THIS IS LITERALLY GOLD I'M SO GLAD I FOUND THIS
This is really good. Too good. I don't know if people are ready for it.
This was truly amazing... really sums up all the arguments we're hearing again and again! You cant not question yourself after that
Really thought provoking film. Nice work
This is so rhetorically beautiful.
This looks beautiful. Great script too.
This was brilliant! Well done! How can I support this kind of work?>
As of right now, sharing the video is the best way to support us. Thank you for interest in supporting us!
Nicely produced and very powerful! Thanks for sharing!
i think i caught on relatively quickly that they weren't actually talking about rape but eating meat. and rather than tricking me into figuring out at the end that these two activities are similar in their horror, i found myself, very early on, looking for the catch as to what was really being discussed by the men. Maybe because the way rape was being discussed like it was normal part of a night on the town. and i know that the comparison for people who believe meat is murder is probably the same as killing animals for food or anything animal based. but regardless how i feel, this is really well done and i hope i makes the impact you guys want!
i am still confused about the consensual part. So is he still eating meat but liked raised on a farm?
the meansheets Great response.
Right but the dude is consensual. So how does an animal consent? Is he not just as bad as the 'rapists'?
+TheJackel2rule The analogy isn't an exact mirror. Animals can't consent, but the point is ultimately that the "consensual," or "vegan," is respecting the rights of the "other" to not be fucked or eaten without consent. It's just about respecting the bodies of other living things and not just taking something from them because it feels good or gives us pleasure. Hope that helps!
The consensual doesn't rape. Vegans don't eat meat. I guess the consensual sex is basically 'i still eat food, but only plants'. ^^
This is beautiful. This is incredible. Subscribed.
Ben - (ok maybe not all the names)
bEnlightenment
Jk lol
Ben is kinda like buen/bene/bon which all mean "good"
Great work!
I watched it many times, and I can't get enough of it. Great in every possible aspect.
gonna share this everywhere
#BoycottMeat and all other animal products of cruelty and exploitation in any way possible!
