Is this the BEST Honda Civic Engine Swap? (Not K Swap) | Boosted John

- Today the ultra clean Honda Civic EK Hatchback gets it's new H22 Euro R engine! This is the highest horsepower H series engine that Honda ever offered. I am excited and honored to be running this engine in my car. With that said, today we install the engine, get it running, drive the car, rip the car, and install new Konig Heliogram wheels on the car. This is one of the most content dense videos I have ever made. With that said, if you would like to show support for all the work I put into this video, please consider liking the video :)

Nothing beats that feeling of having completed some complex work on your car and then just sitting down, cracking open a cold one and looking at what you just achieved👌
Such a money moment 🤌🥃
For me...fEELING this thing
Word 💯
I creamed reading this.
💯👌🏻 fuck yeah. I worked on my brothers Prius the other night on acid and was like wow. I did it. Felt pretty impressed with myself.
The best honda engine overall is the D series in my experience.
Sure you get new fancy stuff in the newer Ks and Hs.
But you dont get 50 miles to a gallon for every 50 smiles per gallon unless you have a D16.
Hell yeah d16z6 gang
Plus you can build it for boost up to 500 hp and not have the extra weight..
The funiest part of old hondas is you don't neeed too much power to have fun
I thought it would be the J-Series, which we specialize in (HalferLand Performance). We make 560whp on just 8-9psi on our Turboed 06' Accord J35 swap (that's not normal, were super efficient 30whp per 1psi boost) but they're great engines. Still enjoying your video, awesome work man 🤙
That sounds efficient asf my guy damn 👍
I guess thats on stock internals?
what turbo is this on?
@@pigeonsil240sx Turbonetics 6968 with billet wheel and journal bearing. Even without ball bearing everyone says is a must (don't get me wrong they are better) the turbo still gets into boost by 3200rpm and full boost by 4200rpm..leaving us a power band in full boost for 3300rpm (7500rpm is where we have our redline/limter set)
@@alexanderdanielsson6049 Lord no, stock internals are only good for a "safe" 450-500..some have pushed to 600 but only for a very short time and then usually snapped a rod. We run all of our own internals we offer on our store, with over 35k miles just on this setup at 550whp. Shows what an efficient, low boost setup can do 🤙 Our entire build is on here and also on the gram under our name. Our 550whp Dyno video is also on here proving it 😎
I used to own a 96 EK with a H22A1, had some work done in the motor and daily drove it with a 130 shot of nitrous. Pretty much killed everything on the freeways. Yes I would go thru bottles about 1 every 2 weeks. Best time of my life.
What an excellent and entertaining video John! The effort and time that you have put into this video has really showed and could not be more happy for you! Huge congratulations for the Konig sponsorship. I am always so damn proud of you. xo🖤
Bae! Thank you ❤️ love you ❤️❤️
The h22 and jdm f20b are so underrated, wish more people would swap them
They are OK.
FRM sleeves that's why
@@mayk3lll f20 doesn't have frm & can always sleeve a h.
Those engines are amazing!!
@@HondaAcuraGarage Im pretty sure f series did have frm too.. anyhow cost of sleeving a h you can spend otherwise on a b or k series. Plus their gbox at the time weren't supported much either until h2b came out. H is certainly being supported a lot more these days than in their era of release. Great motors don't get me wrong just easier to put your money elsewhere rather than sleeving
In regards to that belt whine. Check the timing belt tension. If it has too much, you could be killing one of the idler bearings or placing undo stress on the timing belt itself. That is if that's the problem. I had something similar with my F20B. Great work and I look forward to future content. Sick job with everything.
Same thing on my f22a, or even worse, could start taking out the front main bearing
My h22 and many others I've had made that noise nothing to worry about
my timing belt tension was definitely too much, once I loosened it up a bit, I didn't hear the noise anymore
My stepdad had a H22 Swapped accord wagon stripped down, that thing went stupid for what it was 😅
That thing rips!!! I believe anyone that works on there own cars has been where you have on This video.. and the feeling of giving it the beans when done and it delivers 🙌..
H series is classic, but hardly see em anymore cuz everyone wants k series. I built a sleeved, bored over +1mm high compression JDM H22 like 7-8 years ago. They can def make some power on N20 or Turbo. GL with your build.
Love the sound of big block H22 n/a engines especially with that tune 🎉🤘
A lot of engines have a lot of potential if you build them right. D, B, H, F and K. I personally like is the B series because of the sound. I'd enjoy the sound more than the extra power of a k. I also want to build a 1.6 or 1.8 K20. Shave down the deck if possible for a deStroker. I bet a K20 with 1.6/1.8L internals, possibly shave the shortblock deck, it would destroy all 1.6/1.8L circuit track classes.
I believe that’s been done with a car for the salt flats. I believe it might have even been a 1.5 and rev to 11k
@@DC5Angelo I'm going to have to check that out. I really want to see what a 1.6L K20 circuit track car can do. In a 1.6L class. Whatever car would use that engine would dominate.
I definitely would look into a balance shaft delete, also a manual tensioner
I personally run the KS manual tensioner, KS walk blocker, KS balance shaft elimination kit, KS oil pan, KS oil pan baffle, and the Acura CL pickup tube.
That’s the best way to keep the engine alive.
@@RollingRoadEFI wow lol they build these things with other stock Honda parts to improve shit. That's kinda like the Chevy guys.
@@savagesock8967 You can do both. I chose the expensive stuff for the added benefits, as I’m not building a car to look cool on the street.
excellent vid man, i have my k20 integra in my driveway and were finishing the wiring.btw i love to see the handywork and tedious things not only the driving. i respect you alot. shalom
*Assalamu alaikum
la, i study ancient hebrew. but arabic is interesting to me. shalom.@@noteddiee
I smiled when I saw the H22 :)
K Series are so boring to see these days. Big Block Love.
H22, f22, h23, f20b are so under rated. I was thinking about putting one of these in on my 88 crx si, but i got so many projects at the moment (1994 300zx tt putting out 500hp, 1992 chevy camaro z28 418 stroker ls3). These 3 cars will be buried with me!!
accord euro r puts out a whopping 240 hp from factory, one of the most unheard of/underrated motors out there. my prelude was one of the most fun dailies i ever had
Yeah Boi H-Series Swapped Honda Civic EK/Honda Civic EG6 Is where it's at mate 👏 👌.
B16A/B18C2 VTIR ain't got nothing on the H22Z1 Prelude VTIR & H22A7 Honda Accord Euro R CL1 2.2L VTEC Engine Mate Bigger Displacement Big Pistons & Cams Higher Compression 💯
Man you really upped your game with this one bro! I know the feels when you THINK you're almost done then its just one thing after another and next thing you know, its dark lol STELLAR work bro. The voiceover was more crisp, the b-roll was clean. Be well fam
I thought my boys prelude was quick, but man stuffed into a ek. I'm sure it's a ripper.
Definitely my favorite video of yours recently. I can totally see the pride in your work with the build and in the konig sponsorship that’s huge!!! Now the ek just needs a supercharger haha
YOOOOOOOO A KONIG SPONSOR?!?!?!?!
Congrats dude, that's awesome!!!
the grinder asmr intro scene caused me anxiety and pleasure at the same time
The H22 sounds so aggressive. What's your exhaust setup?
Back in the day the H series was the way to go but Don’t remember you had to grind anything
Love Watching your videos man because no matter what happens you keep pushing, you dont give up and you inspire alot of us! keep the hard work 🤘🏼
I cringe so hard watching people install clutches with 0 knowledge. My guy please do your self a favor and BY HAND screw the bolts in till they touch the pressure plate and then 1/4 turn on the bolts in sequence till the pressure plate seats all the way. You avoid the chance of warping your clutch and burning through it in like 5k miles
Been watching your vids and love the channel! H2B is pretty fun !
Really enjoy this editing haha no talking and just listening to the tools do all the work. Enjoyed the video john, Keep up the grind 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I swapped my 92 accord coupe with a JDM H22 back in 2004.....what fun!!
Had a h22 cb7 and had the same whine. Checked the tbelt tension and it was fine. Never did figure it out and ended up trading the car lol.
The weird angle statement as he’s looking back into my soul has me dead over here!!!!!🤣🤣🤣On a serious note love the build so far brotha keep it goin!!!!Also nice to see some euro h22 love
Ahh 😑 i mean congrats for completing your project i just really thought i was gonna see some crazy engine swap kinda tired of seeing K swap everywhere thought it was gonna be something unique tbh well later
Bruh it’s literally H2B. Not K. Your comment makes no sense.
@@boosted_john hey dont get mad if you READ properly you will see what i REALLY ment not saying you a K swap 🤦🏻 im saying me personally that im checking out for a something Unique some crazy shit like Boxer Engine swap 2JZ that i have saw a couple good ass builts in Civics V6 3.8 mivec from eclipse in a honda civic THAT kinda stuff not a H2B no offense i mean it to for the J32 swaps and B20v but yea... When i saw Not K Swap my bad but i eas thinking in THAT kinda crazy swap Ggs tho
h22 are good swaps there just oddly heavier than b16 and 18's
That motor sounds Sweet......
NICE!! you should try a better air filter setup so your not sucking up hot air. i remember years back one of my friends used a modified GS-R air box to keep intake temps low.
If you have to made a video for us. Hell yea. I have time for your 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome video! Was looking at h22 videos cause I own a 5th gen prelude and glad I stumbled upon this. Subscribed instantly lol. Are you running a gates timing belt? Mine screamed like a SC too for a while even after adjusting it. These h22 timing belts do not like to be too tight. Keep up the good work!
H23a would have been nicer! Great video John!
Vtec crossover sounds DAMN GOOD in that EK hatch!!! 👍🏻🔥👍🏻🔥
Man's looks like McLovin from Hawaii turned auto enthusiast.
Keep it up man! I have a b series eg. Inspiring to see you go through this.
K series are fast but when you just wanna F around I prefer the H and B series and the D series are something you can’t underestimate
Those wheels are sexy. I want a pair for my cobalt ss
I knew it was an h series as soon as you accelerated in the beginning. I have a h22 DC2
Seriously!!!! you did ALL THIS by yourself?? MAD! RESCPECT!
Im calling bs on 235whp on a stock internal h22. I dont care how good the tune is.
Been around countless h series all motor making that power and they have head work, cams, bumped up compression ect.
You’ll be lucky to crack 200whp with that setup dyno it and prove me wrong
Aight
@@boosted_john dont get me wrong im talking only all motor..
i like your content But the car trapped 98mph in the 1/4 thats about what you would expect out of a stock h22 with some bolts ons in a hatch.
If you were making 230 or even 220 the car would trap 109-110 Atleast.
People with cams and higher compression make 230 n/a on a h22. How can a basemap replicate that?
@@MRsteezy123 I can agree with that I have a h22 euro r in my crx, it’s fbo’s with tuner 2 cams and on 91 the setup made 245hp really fun setup but I can’t see a stock setup making that power unless on it’s on some race gas
been looking everyday for a new upload, it took some time but you never dissapoint!!
I love my H2B EK Hatch! Very underrated.
you should put the f series block on with the h series head on and make a g series :)
Clean ass OEM+ look, digging the Konigs. They're slept on wheels for sure.. maybe a lil CTR touches on the front end or a lip kit plus cleaning up the headlights would make it look KILLER. H22 is one of my favorite motors.
The k series comes from the reverse head h22's found in the touring car series in the 90's
damn she sounds so good, and the new shoes are so clean!!! when is the next video lol
hey john! I was wondering if you had the link for the fog lights bro, I have been looking everywhere for a decent set.
This is the first video I’ve watched on this channel. Gotta say I love the editing! Super cool.
“I just want this thing to run” all I’ve been saying with my 99 crv. Original engine lost compression in cyl one so it got a new one put in. I didn’t swap or anything, another b20z went in, but I figured the engine and trans were out so I’d go in and get new mounts, uppers, lowers pretty much you name it the front end got it. Just last night, it’s FINALLY back on all fours and I couldn’t be happier. She’s gon be ready to fire soon
Ah yes another Honda build never fails fucken sweet swap!
H22 baby 🔥🔥👏,, very underrated engine ,, loved my h22a7 accord type R
i love the h series there cool and stuff just not as reliable as the b or k series but if your keeping it stock i think its the best engine swap but the b is more reliable for higher hp bc of the oil pump problems in the h series
H series very reliable
Nice job. That looks like it would be a great engine candidate for a swap into my 1992 Acura Integra LS sedan. That would be super fun I think.
Lmao
I love h series. My favorite series, the tone, the vtec crossover, the underrated power. That’s a Honda sleeper
Wheels are money spot on with the euro love the build looking forward to some good content 👌
Great build John. Proud of ya man.. been subscribed for awhile
Thanks for the great videos and hard work
Supercharger sound is definitely the tensioner. Look into getting a manual tensioner set up. Great work! sub'd
This was a great video! That car sounds so good!! The H’s have the best VTEC crossover
@@ogp2467 my buddy has a 6 speed maxima and vs my 5th gen prelude it’s close till about 100 then those 3.5 turn on and the prelude runs outta gear around 125 130 that’s all it has but it is quick for a Honda the maxima are faster tho no doubt
Nice H22 swap, now time to boost it! 😄
using the big vtec nice one of the hardest swaps i had to do was the H22a with my cousin installing in a 4 door eg he ended up selling it afterwards the car never got to see a mile on the road
Let's gooooo!
Good work on the car sounds good 👍🏾👍🏾😊
*_J series next build? 👀👄👀_*
I thought you were going to do a G23 Vtec swap with K series pistons.
I know the h series.. good to see it still being used
BEFORE YOU START TAKING THIS TO THE TRACK YOU NEED TO GET A BAFFLED OIL PAN SO YOU DON'T STARVE IT OF OIL
B18c1 type r long block with b16 ported head 32 over bore on block cp pistons ctr ecu chipped tac to 10.50 with megan 4 to 1 header greddy exhaust lsd possi 7.0 throttle body aem cam gears an cams skunk 2 short ram cold air by far best Honda I have ever had 120 in 3 gear way passed 160 at top speed was my beast an iv had 96 teggy with Jackson supper charger an iv had 09 4 door si k20 an way way more my poormans was a beast
This guy knows what he's doing better than the shops 👏
Damn this EK hard AF 🔥🔥
Very nice video, lots of work was put into that car. Congrats!
I myself have a lude with a swapped japanese h23a vtec blue top, and I want to change all my gaskets and seals as well as the timing belt/water pump. Where would you get parts for such a job?
same gasket kit as a h22. h23 is just different crank, rods and pistons
Just seen you yesterday I was in the black em1 by the park didn’t even know you was from Illinois but your hatch looks way better in person then I’m video
Haha thanks bro 🙏
I love that work you did on your Civic Hatchback. I love the Honda H series engine.
Yeah Boi H-Series Swapped Honda Civic EK4/Honda Civic EG6 Is where it's at mate 👏 👌.
B16A/B18C2 VTIR ain't got nothing on the H22Z1 Prelude VTIR & H22A7 Honda Accord Euro R CL1 2.2L VTEC Engine Mate Bigger Displacement Bigger Pistons & Cams Higher Compression & Cylinders More Power 💯.
Here's to better luck hopefully lol. 🍻
SIck video john, been waiting for this one for a while. Before you get the ek dynoed you should do some head work man, get that thing revving nice and high and it will be a monster. Reguardless tho, great vid, much love bro
Just finished putting my h23a hatch back together it feels lovely lol
Other people have said this, but please look into doing some oil system upgrades if the plan is to track this car. Oil starvation during cornering will kill an engine very quickly, and I really don't want to have to watch this new engine grenade itself after one track event.
Just a tiny little detail... please, polish those headlights! 😅🙏🏻
It will make a huge difference! 👌🏻
Bro it is #1 on my list. I promise. I know it’s going to look like a different car 🙌
Finally, not a Kswap,
Hey John what exhaust setup is on the car? It sounds really dope
PLM header. Skunk2 3 inch full exhaust. No cat.
Great taste. Sick ride, congrats!
Coors Light tastes like bananas. 😉. LY 🥰
Lmao ly
Nice one🔥
i think its easier to put the engine and transmission in Separately
That coors in the back. 🥶 nothing like working on our cars and drinking a cold beer. Like fathers like sons. Cool shot man.
Get a baffled oil pan if you do t already have one, it'll save your motor at the track
I'm considering doing something similar f22/h22 in a wago rt4wd. What transmission did you use?
Love the work dog keep it up super fun video to watch thank you!!
Thank you!
Hats off to this guy, I have all the tools in the world and do everything my self like him.
Looks like @2point2turbo is already influencing motor swaps. Too many people heard about your prices and numbers💀💀
I’m currently rebuilding a euro r h22a with an h23 crank and prelude type s pistons into my crx. Balance shaft delete and skunk2 pro2 cams.
I had an H2B Euro R in my EK although it was fun having the torque the high revving was not there like a B series and the car felt really front heavy while driving it in the canyon or track racing at streets of willow. In the end I sold the swap and went back to a TYPE R K20A much better
I bet you had the Accord/Prelude transmission too, right? That’s the reason. In reality the H is only a total of 34lb heavier, and with the H2B swap the stock B series flywheel is much lighter anyway so you save 1/3 of the added weight right there. The weight is an illusion, the placement is everything. With the H2B swap the B series transmission sits in the factory location and the engine is angled differently. The result is a totally different feeling.
@@RollingRoadEFI LSD transmission from the 99spec B18C Type R
@@showstopper247 Very unfortunate. Even with the 4.4 ITR LSD transmission I have no problems. The car feels ridiculously light on its feet. I’d even say the 4.7 isn’t enough gear for it. No idea why yours felt heavy. Motor not producing as it should?
@@showstopper247 You didn’t do one of those platelets kits (bag of Brough bolts) did you?
Hey man! Please change or clean the headlights. I know is your car but my OCD won’t let me ignore it!🙏🏼🙏🏼
Car sounds amazing ! Can’t wait to see it on the track 🤙🏽
A jon I highly recommend a Moroso oil pan , oem honda pans dont have to proper baffling needed for track use. Oil starvation is killer to a engine .
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've seen, Moroso's pans are intended for Accords and Preludes. H2B setups have a different engine tilt, and KSTuned makes an oil pan (baffling sold separately) specifically for H2B cars.
@@accord_aero_r valid point , I just dont want him to spin another rod bearing.
