- A specialist mental health facility could close down . A Cumbrian MP said the NHS trust will have to convince him that the services will improve and change in west Cumbria.
We shouldn’t fight for mental health support as in the thumbnail we should be offered it freely.
They say the Yewdale Ward at West Cumberland is not fit for purpose it currently provides support up to 16 men and women with severe mental health problems who need treatment in hospital
I’ve had bad experiences haven’t seen much improvement in the psychiatric hospitals maybe in the near future they could be more closing down. Improvements will have to be made maybe in the footsteps of the Yewdale ward.
A few years ago my girlfriend needed help what we went through was beyond belief.
We waited patiently for mental health service to come as they promised to pick us up and take us to hospital.
We phoned up continuously they kept making up excuses saying we won’t be long. I grabbed the phone off my girlfriend and switched it off I said they don’t care.
The police turned up at the door and I said what’s wrong the policeman said we heard there was a domestic.
Told them to come in and see if there is but agreed and said there isn’t. I asked who told you to come , it was the mental health team.
The police came 3 or 4 times and they decided to take us in a police van it didn’t look too good as we got into the back.
As we got to the psychiatric hospital we had to wait a long time it was early hours. We found out there was no beds. The only way my girlfriend could find help was to go to another hospital in Scarborough.
Then she went back to the previous hospital from Scarborough within a week or so. I went down to discharge her after she seemed to of got worse. The appointment ended as the psychiatrist reckoned they couldn’t do anything to help her.
When I got solicitors for my discharges they were all successful i remember one solicitor saying “ they have nothing on you “
I’m coming to a conclusion that there’s not many beds in many psychiatric hospitals there not fit for purpose and the psychiatric nurses plus their psychiatrists are not up to scratch.
My observation could be second to none and my bad experiences could tell you a great deal if anyone is interested I will gladly tell you more.
These professional people need educating need to treat their patients with respect and dignity treat us individually.
My conclusion is that not only the psychiatric hospitals need investigating but some of the people not only who run the places but who also work there.
Have to laugh or cry that all my involvement as a patient from the 80s is now a little bit of care of 1.5 hours a week disgusting isn’t it.
Side effects off costly drugs forced no evidence of it happening no recall of malpractice. It’s all down to secrecy sometimes I wonder how on Earth they got away with it.
Many have had bad experiences I was one person but witnessed other vulnerable people getting treated badly NHS ( No Hidden Secrets ).
Maybe you would like to know the whereabouts of some of the patients, some names of the bad apples bet the pay was good !
My Dear mother used to say “ whatever goes around comes around “ it’s certainly looking that way.
I’m glad I’m not under so much pressure for now I will be playing it by ear “ The meaning to play it by ear is to act spontaneously and according to the situation.
I Will be rearranging whatever I can however I can for a healthier , safer happier life not just for myself but others.
PS did you have a good Halloween night , wait till bonfire night it’ll be just as good.
All take care
