A detail that was very intentional was that Toph isn't always staring off at nothing but that she always has her ear directed to whoever is talking. She's blind so blind people tend to have an ear pointed at whoever is talking so they can hear them better
Of course, also another detail I want to share about a past episode is: in the tales of Ba Sing Se in the tale of Iroh. He goes around helping 3 different boys/men and different stages in their life. A toddler crying, adolescent kids making mistakes, and a young man in need of guidance in his life. 2 ways he helped his own son and 1 that he wasn't able to. For at the end of the episode he remarks "if only I was able to help you"
Great catch at 5:55! It's not explicitly said in the show itself, but Master Piandao actually trained Zuko as well, so it makes sense Zuko explained it a similar way.
Robert Patrick a.k.a. the t1000 from Terminator 2 is Master Pian Dao voice actor. His voice fits the character perfectly! This series had so many great talents
I love how master piando (forgive my misspelling of his name) but he completely explained sokka at the beginning of the show. Showing he's had lots of people like that show up to him and he probably didnt teach a lot of them and it just shows how much sokka has changed since the beginning. Instead of boasting saying "Im the best teach me" He humbles himself and literally doesn't know if he's worth teaching. Also him making the meteor sword just makes me feel warm inside. Kinda proud.
Yes!!! Another one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. ❤️ Sokka definitely leveled tf up here! Not only learned to recognize what he already had, but became a much better swordsman too in addition to his boomerang skills!
Love how Iroh goes from Fun Uncle to Swole Daddy. Like damnn 😂😌. The scene where Sokka gets on his knees and says "I don't know if I am worthy" is a parallel to his cocky statement back at Kyoshi Island. His statement back then was "I am the best Warrior in my village." Now while this statement is technically true I still like the fact that he's humble, and requesting. It shows just how far he's come. I definitely feel for Sokka. Anyone in his position would feel bad. And its not even that Sokka can't bend, its that he's in the group of world's best benders. Like lemme run it down real quick: • Katara (who has an insane growth rate. Like she went from barely able to freeze someone to bending waves) • Toph (who's one of the coolest bender from the moment we meet her and she invents Metalbending) • Aang (The Avatar who can bend all four elements. Like i dont need to say anything more) If anything I'm surprised he didn't feel the way he did in this ep back in the Ep Earth King. It's very similar, all Sokka was able to do was direct Appa while the others were folding the Earth Army like laundry. Fun fact: Aang wearing the armor was because nickelodeons marketing team kept bugging the creators to make him wear an armor so they could sell his figurines. This was their response. Just so u guys know Sokka doesnt master Swordsmanship. He just gets the basics down. And finally Some lore from Avatar Extras on Piandao: • was born in a wealthy family but was disowned because he didn't inherit firebending. He also deserted the firenation army (like Jeong Jeong), but when the Firelord sent an army of 100 soldiers to arrest him Piandao killed all 100 soldiers. The army or FN didn't bother him again. • He also trained Zuko when he was young as we see him use the dual broadswords quite often. 5:55 You even called it out. • And he was based off of Sifu Kisu the Martial art consultant of the show. Great reaction. Have great day ahead 😁😊.
Some FunFacts/Trivia This is the first episode in which Iroh is voiced exclusively by Greg Baldwin. The waterfall Piandao has Sokka paint is heavily based on the Gullfoss Waterfall in Iceland, famed for its rainbows. Prior to beginning the final season, the show's creators traveled around Iceland, gathering inspiration for what the Fire Nation landscape would resemble. The armor that Aang wears in the weapon shop is inspired by an early toy design of Aang with an armor suit.
The distance between the north and south poles is much smaller in the Avatar world than Earth. The world is smaller and therefore gravity is lessened. That's why so many characters can roll large boulders and jump really far. It also helps with one-armed pullups (though Iroh is still a badass for how many he did)
Hey Meesh and Dee, "Happy Monday." I hope you two days are going well. This was a great episode. I like that it Sokka focuses. I like how this episode tackled something about Sokka that I didn't think about him being the only one in the group who isn't a bender. And how it made him feel weak that he couldn't do amazing things like others can do. But I like that Sokka gets the chance to get stronger by learning how to fight with a sword under Master Piando. As well as Iroh trains to get stronger. But anyway, I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay Stay, take care and and stay amazing.
Definitely one of my favorite episodes great reaction girls soccer has now technically learned from every culture not much from air but Aang did teach him loosen up
Love your love for this episode. It's another gem. And it's like the 3rd in the first 4 episodes where they continue to show another dimension of the Fire Nation, instead of simply vilifying it wholesale. They showcase youth, a community poisoned by the Fire Nation war machine, and now a martial leader with an international mindset. Already a long way from Sokka's "those are enemy birds."
I feel like this episode was the huge milestone for Sokka’s growth as the mentally inventive and creative one in the group. 🥹 Was so proud this episode. Also, if anything, this could be a good change that the live action makes-lengthening some of these story lines, because I always thought the same thing: damn one day?? Lol Toph at the end also created the Nickelodeon symbol with the meteor. Side note: what y’all have in that thermos? 🤣 jk jk
We loveee this episode for Sokka 🥹 He’s definitely the most resourceful of the group IMO. And he adds a great dynamic to the group as a non-bender. LMAO the thermos has allll of the good good 🤪🥤 (aka just electrolytes and a sparking drink) 😉
3:46 this getup was the writers making fun of Nickelodeon wanting Aang to have a wardrobe upgrade so they could market him better in merchandise sales, like toys for kids. They wanted to show how ridiculous it was.
If theres one tiny thing the live action series could, fix... its the timeline lmao, I feel like they def crammed 2-3 years of material in this one summer in the cartoon lolol (and yet its still a perfect show)
Avatar is episodic not linear, it follows a bigger story, but it has it's own story lesson and setting for every episode except for a couple two parters, and the finale. There are a couple arcs through the books that last more than one episode, and you could technically say there are tones of bottle episodes but avatar has only one filler episode, and it's only considered that because it's a recap episode. You guys have been listening to the goofballs of the internet and need to stop doing that. there are no fillers. and you guys have mentioned a filler almost every three episodes. not even canyon is a filler.
A detail that was very intentional was that Toph isn't always staring off at nothing but that she always has her ear directed to whoever is talking. She's blind so blind people tend to have an ear pointed at whoever is talking so they can hear them better
This makes so much sense now! Thanks for that interesting detail 😊🙏🏽

Damn you I came here to write this exact thing. Take my angry upvote.
🤯🤯🤯
So that means master piandao believe Sokka is more worthy thin Zuko
Great reaction as always. Love how Toph did the Nickelodeon splat with the meteor rock at the end.
That’s dope!! Thanks for watching with us 🥰

season 3 has some of my favorites, the headband, the beach, and the avatar and the firelord. top quality television!
Love the little Easter egg of toph bending the space rock at the end and it turns into to old the Nickelodeon logo !!
Damn. Beat me to it

The back bender Sokka has a new way to stab now
Good god😭😂
My favorite episode in the whole show :))). Idk maybe it’s because I identify with sokka the most 😅😂
I always found it funny that Piandao said "There's a million Lees." That's the name Zuko chose to go by. 😆
sokka is such a good ass character man
Love your reactions! So fun to relive the show with you two (⌒▽⌒)☆
Thanks so much for watching with us! 🥰🫶🏼

12:21 One of the things found in King Tut’s tomb was a dagger made out of metal from a meteor!
That sword master also taught Zuko.
I love y’all’s reactions ❤
We appreciate you watching with us 🥰🫶🏼
