The ghosts aren't actually YOU's relatives, they're really just brain eating amoeba that will overtake YOU, gaining a new vessel to create more ghosts. This is what happens at the end of the game when all the frogs show up and urge YOU to kill Susie. I have simplified this very much, and I would recommend checking out the DO YOU HAVE THE password file in the Ribbit mod files

I’ve seen some people saying you should do a video on Everyname. I hope that if you do, you could also bring up the mod’s “genocide” route since I find it pretty interesting mainly with the implications of what the ending brings up in regards to the aftermath of a player character after the events of an geno route, if uh the geno route doesn’t result in the world being destroyed or smth, in Undertale and its fangames. Something else that I find pretty interesting is that apparently all the characters (I presume the main characters) are meant to represent different forms of depression and change, with THE GIFT supposedly being a reverse Mary sue of sorts according to TheMaxine in the 2.0.8 changelog on gamejolt.

I think a good example of “when a joke becomes a masterpiece” is both this in the video and the green sans fan game. Why? Because of its trailer, its music, the upcoming gameplay, etc

I played Ribbit sometime during ir before the pandemic. I forget exactly when, though. Anyways, back when I played, RIBBIT had some secret folders and files that give extra details and lore on Ribbit. I do not know if the author of Ribbit has removed these files as it seems as though, from this footage, that the game has gotten a couple of updates (namely, a sprite update where YOU has been changed to an actual frog, whereas before it was Kris with frog eyes). If you are curious on seeing whether these files still exist, I reccomend giving the folders of this game a look. I will probably redownload Ribbit and do the same.

So, before watching the video, here's my thoughts on RIBBIT. It has a fatal flaw, and that's the fact that it's really bad at telling you what is happening in the story. This seems mainly because it has thousands of words worth of backstory and lore to the game and it's squeezing all of that into the length of Deltarune chapter 1, which is made even worse because it spends a lot of time telling jokes instead of progressing the extremely cramped story. Due to this literally nothing in the story has any time to breathe, which makes all of the story-based scenes have so much to process that it's practically impossible to understand everything on the first playthrough. Then after the first playthrough, to compensate for the weird storytelling, they just direct you to a hidden lore dump that's in the game files that explains everything, instead of maybe extending the length of the story or being more focused with the short timeslot. I get that it's a joke mod but it really needs to either be twice as long so that everything can be more spread out and explained better while still keeping the jokes, or just to focus ALL of it's attention on making every scene progress the story so that it doesn't waste any time. And with some of the flavor text and how the "Before you begin.txt" file is written, it seems like they knew this severe flaw with the story and just didn't go back and fix it. Or at least not yet This feels extremely discouraging because, although you can have some things be hard to understand, or take a lot of time to click into place, you can't do that for literally everything in a story because for someone to care enough to make a deep dive into your story, they have to at least have a basic understanding of the main plotline. I guess this isn't as bad for some people since they did do a deep dive but for me it just makes it feel like a nothing-burger if I have to read 5k word lore dumps and replay the entire game just to get a basic understanding of what's happening on-screen and understand even the main conflicts and character arcs. Stuff like this ruined the third act climax and ending for me because instead of feeling satisfied at how everything clicks into place, the story just got more and more confusing to the point where it felt less like a story and more of a collage of random events that make no sense. I liked it at first but then the story started biting more than it could chew after the Noyno character arc was finished and he changed to stop making empty threats and it felt like instead of taking the story slow, it just rushed itself into it's ending. It would've actually benefited a lot from having multiple chapters to tell this story instead of just being one chapter.

Ngl i kinda wish you covered the second secret boss here because (spoiler warning for the "secret" ending in the mod) "Your thoughts" is a really cool boss, and the way it starts is just really amazing YOU is told that the moment he walks out of the inn his fate for eternal doom is sealed YOU decides too stay in one place but all he is left with is endless memories of what has happened throughout the game The ending "future is a mystery" imo is still the best ending in the entire mod Someone in another comment came up with an headcannon that after YOU woke up he used his wishing/genie powers too turn the entire story and mod into a full on joke mod removing the gift and all the deep lore stuff which is shy in the ending susie is normal lancer is alive and noyno never became king and they all just live with eachother (also Noelle too ig) its unknown what happened too YOU possibly he's out living his own life
this is like if deltarune was written by halloween hack-era toby with the same quality as modern toby (i love it. it goes so hard, and Noyno might be one of my favorite characters)

Iirc they were added as a Undertale boss rush type boss as like the most simplist incentive to play the mod if you didn’t really get what the mod was going for. Might be misremembering but I think that was the gist of it back when they did some dev commentary on one of shayy’s stream on RIBBIT

"Your thoughts" is a really cool boss, and the way it starts is just really amazing
YOU is told that the moment he walks out of the inn his fate for eternal doom is sealed YOU decides too stay in one place but all he is left with is endless memories of what has happened throughout the game
The ending "future is a mystery" imo is still the best ending in the entire mod
Someone in another comment came up with an headcannon that after YOU woke up he used his wishing/genie powers too turn the entire story and mod into a full on joke mod removing the gift and all the deep lore stuff which is shy in the ending susie is normal lancer is alive and noyno never became king and they all just live with eachother (also Noelle too ig) its unknown what happened too YOU possibly he's out living his own life

Inspired by a similar work, puts a new character with somewhat familar faces, kinda edgy and vulgar but with a somehow actually deep meaning behind it all? It feels very similar to what Toby tried to do with the Halloween Hack!

I don't think "(Noyno initiated his own battle.)" gets enough credit. It is such a badass line of text that marks the definitive resolution to Noyno's character development, and it comes from a shitpost mod lmao

@@the_random6826according to the creator, Everyname was a character they made for a novel (I presume it was a serious novel) they were working on a while back prior to RIBBIT and I think Deltarune as well. Iirc they were added as a Undertale boss rush type boss as like the most simplist incentive to play the mod if you didn’t really get what the mod was going for. Might be misremembering but I think that was the gist of it back when they did some dev commentary on one of shayy’s stream on RIBBIT
