While they do tend to perform quite well, I've been noticing gyro issues with the X12. But yeah, micros are going so far lately. I absolutely love it!
Thank you for the feedback - i havent had any issues with my x12s just yet, knock on wood. What behaviors do you tend to see? Is it just the audible noise?
@@MoeFPV On the Mobula, I suspect that the small size and torque are preventing it from being a visible effect. On the 3" toothpick however, it absolutely causes visible vibration and there's an excess of wiggles in the gyro data. (external blackbox) The odd thing is that I took the Mobula's flight controller and put it on a Bassline frame, and it's one of my most solid quads now. Maybe it's all frame related stuff.
Looks like a fun build. CNC drones makes the AOS T3 toothpick frame too which might be my next build. It's Chris Rosser's take on a toothpick frame tuned for better resonance.
I fly primarily the TP3 and Babytooth frames from FPV cycle and have loved every one I built (one recently on the 13mm motors on 1s). I might take a look at the AOS T3, now that you mentioned it to me though. The 3" toothpick platform is one of my all time favorites to fly. 1s, 2s, even 3s - I feel like its all you need. Thank you for the info!
Nice builds! Been looking for ideas to build 1-2 2" 2s+ micros this winter. So happy to see more frames coming out. Going to be hard to pick one. Happy for the increasing amount of choice.
I am still very partial to my 3” toothpicks - something about the flight characters gets me. Usually more floaty and drifty. But this 2” was a pleasant surprise - felt like I could fly it a lot more aggressively due to its smaller size and surprised me big time with the punch !
You can also get all these components by buying a HM Bassline. I bought one and transplanted everything to an Odonata HD frame from CraftedKwads and it's a favorite of mine. Planning to get a Baby Turtle and put some RCinPower 1002's I have on it with 40mm props. Good video. Thanks.
I'm currently building a 3 inch 1s hdzero toothpick to add to my collection of 2 other drones haha, an open prop 1.6 inch hdzero, and ofc a 6s 5 inch monster

@MoeFPV I love this form factor. I have a couple questions. 1; does the 2s have frame bumpers at the motors? does it need them? I'm worried they might add weight. 2; Whats the lightest caddx vista build that flies well? I have a couple vistas that I could put into a build to get that digital experience (5inch is just too big for my space).
I have another solution for 2” HD - another frame by the same designer called the BAT. video to release in a few weeks but do you have access to the 03 system? I haven’t built this quad up on vista - only walksnail. But the 03 Bat is by far the best digital experience on a true micro I’ve flown

Hey Moe. Built one exactly like this - even had the same antenna already. Can you tell me what sort of tune you used? I'm flying the RDQ 300mah 2s batts. Getting oscillation on high throttle punch outs. Thanks in advance. Love your channel and this build!

Sounds like an awesome little build! Depending on the final weight, i would say anything from 450-750s would be fine. I tend to try to run the smallest battery i can while getting at least 3 or so min of flight time. I feel like 550 will be your sweet spot. Please let me know how it turns out or if you post any vids! sounds like a great build
I love that build, but I still stick with the 65mm propped toothpicks with 1103 8k-10k kv motors. I have one that's down to 43g and it's a beast. I also started flying fpv way back before brushless toothpicks. I had a brushed "toothpick" from the micromotorwarehouse days, then I saw kababfpv make a brushless one and....I was fully in the hobby after that. I was all fixed wing before Mr. Roogi introduced me to crack...I mean toothpicks
Damn ! You are an OG then - thank you very much for stopping by. I was enjoying the mob 8, a 2s 85mm whoop. Are you flying a 65mm 2s ?? How is that experience? I have never flown that setup before. And kabab is my hero ! the Babytooth and TP3 are still probably my choice of quad if i could only have one for the rest of my flying life LOL
@MoeFPV no problem man! The 65mm 2s is 65mm (2.5") propellers on a 100mm frame, one of kababs original toothpicks before the 3". One quick question, i dont think you showed how you mount the battery to the frame. I have built two of these by now (one 45mm 1s and one 2'' 2s) and i havent gotten the trueRC antenna to fit because my batteries are allways in the way.
Thank you very much! Happy to have you :) and I also really love micros - safe, quiet, cheap , and still a whole lot of fun ! More vids to come soon and let me know if you ever have any questions 👍
I got myself the 45mm version and I'm thinking of going 2S with some 1103 1100kv. What do you thing about the combo? Will that work? Maybe even work well?
On this version, no I did not. The slightly larger motor screws of the 1103s fit just fine. BUT the new design will probably not accommodate the larger screws without drilling them out slightly , is my guess. I don’t know for certain, but I rather tell you no just to be safe !
Thanks Moe! Yeah I'm still digging the toothpicks. Being able to fly in a Walmart parking lot in the middle of the day with nobody knowing is priceless.😂I'm still rocking the TP3 style toothpicks and I have an 82mm Blujay Walksnail I just built with 1103 motors and BetaFPV AIO board. But the baby Turtle is definitely cool. I'm thinking it might have more protection for the cam and the AIO board. Especially on the Baby Turtle X that's going to come out soon.@@MoeFPV
Nitro - mainly i was concerned about the weight and dimensions, as the vista and 03 are all dual stack boards, ontop of the AIO required for the build. Technically, you MIGHT be able to squish in a Naked Vista and an AIO but I would not recommend for this particular frame. You would need to look for a roomier frame to give that board stack more space but there are definitely some available
Sorry for the delay ! Below are all the prints you need. Cam mounts, skids, antenna holders and battery trays :) if you elected to get the hardware , outside of the mouthing of your aio and vtx, you’re all set All prints can be found here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5427107
No experience with FPV but am comfortable with 3d printing, lipos, and soldering. Is there a frame/setup recommended for newbies? Are these smaller frames more affordable than larger ones?
For a complete beginner, i would not recommend an open prop build like this. I would get something called a WHOOP, or a prop protected micro drone. Check out the Happy Model Mobula 7 - i think this is about the best drone you can when you first start. Powerful enough indoors and outdoors, safe, small and cheap batteries and will grow with you - as long as you dont break it ;)
Awesome review and flying Moe!!! Did you go with 1.5 mm or 2 mm thickness for the bottom plate on your 2-in build? Also what are your flight times on the 2-in 2S build on the 300 and 450 battery?
Thank you very much Chrys! I went with the 2 mm for the 2” as I knew I would probably be beating it up 😅 probably would go 1.5 for the 45mm though. On the 300mah on the 1103s I could squeak out about 3 min if I wasn’t gunning it the entire flight. Over 3.5 min on the 450 and I tend to baby my multi-cell batteries a bit. They usually recover to 3.6 ish when I land. Those 1103 11000kvs are tough sometimes because they will sag the hell out of a battery and I never know if it’s going to come back up or give out on me LOL
Great video. Subbed! Just finished my first full build after breaking too many Crux 35 bottom plates. I went with a RVS Yeet35 frame, Mamba F7 stack, ELRS, and a Vista - while I reused the Crux 1404 motors, I have T-Motor 1507 3800s on the way. I enjoyed the researching and building as much as flying. I'd love to build something like the 1S in this video - quick to charge and get up in the air. However, the 2S version looks sick! On a side note: Other than lots of stick-time, what's your method for learning tricks? You have a pretty wide repertoire. Do you practice new tricks in the sim or just send it?
1s and 2s are both great in their own ways. 1s for the quiet convivence and safety and 2s for that extra power and control! To me, you cant pick just one 😉 But i am very fond of the 2s on this platform. For new tricks, i do practice most of them in the sim to start then move over to doing them on whoops or other small crafts that i am not worried about breaking/breaking other things with. I found that, if i got confident with a new trick on my whoop, i could do it on my larger drones either right away or within a few tries. Just need to keep in mine the throttle when switching between more powerful drones. And always be confident in yourself when attempting them ! Thank you very much for the sub ! More content coming very soon : )

Just broke my MOB 8 frame a few days ago... this frame should absolutely fare better than the mob 8 plastic frame. You will also get additional flight performance when losing the ducts. IMO, if you dont need prop protection, ductless drones provide a better flight experience.
Hmm I was looking at ordering a 2inch baby turtle but it looks like all of sub250gfpv frames are no longer on cncdrones site for sale😢. Is he selling them somewhere else? Did you go with 1.6 or 2mm bottom plate?
@@AndyGJorgensen hi Andy - I spoke with Phil and it appears as though the frames are temporarily not available. I will reply to you on this comment as soon as they are available to purchase again, either on CNC or a different vendor. Sorry for the delay
I have the HDZ goggles currently. Couple that with an analog module and with the walksnail VRX and you have 3/4 of the systems ! I also bought a cheap pair of DJI V2 goggles off of eBay. But I do primarily fly analog still. What system are you most interested in?
Please let me know how it flies ! This is the exact configuration I wanted to test but didn’t have the chance too. I think those 1102s will handle the 2” a lot better - I am curious about power and flight time. Hope you get your AIO ASAP !
@@MoeFPV 😂 By the way, I have decided to equip all my carbon frame micros under 3 inches with prop guards, among other things I simply cut out whoop frames... I may show this in a video in the next few months. The reason: I tend to fly these micros in small parks where there are always a lot of people walking around... You can also get closer to objects...What you need are extended motor screws... By definition they are no micros anymore, but carbon whoops...
Thats a good idea - i love the safety of whoops, as well. Just peace of mind knowing youre flying something that cant really do much harm and people tend to not mind when you hold up a little prop protected whoop lol looking forward to your vid@@Sugalime3D_FPV

Any other hardware I need
I got 2 frames .
Sorry for the delay ! Below are all the prints you need. Cam mounts, skids, antenna holders and battery trays :) if you elected to get the hardware , outside of the mouthing of your aio and vtx, you’re all set

@@MoeFPV Thanks for the info Moe! I may have to try this platform!
Does the NC Miata have 3 pedals?
@@miguelt.7997 3 pedals and 6 GEARS BABY

Is this frame still for sale , I can’t find on the web site.
These are temporarily unavailable as they are undergoing revision. They will be available to purchase again soon with some new variants, too ! I will update the video description with that info. Sorry about the inconvenience
I have the mobula 8 and feel the frame is week. How do you feel this frame holds up in comparison?
Just broke my MOB 8 frame a few days ago... this frame should absolutely fare better than the mob 8 plastic frame. You will also get additional flight performance when losing the ducts. IMO, if you dont need prop protection, ductless drones provide a better flight experience.
Hmm I was looking at ordering a 2inch baby turtle but it looks like all of sub250gfpv frames are no longer on cncdrones site for sale😢. Is he selling them somewhere else? Did you go with 1.6 or 2mm bottom plate?
@@AndyGJorgensen hmm I think the frames might be moving to a different manufacturer - i will ask Phil tomorrow and let you know asap
@MoeFPV thanks I appreciate it I haven't found any info yet on places to order.
@@AndyGJorgensen hi Andy - I spoke with Phil and it appears as though the frames are temporarily not available. I will reply to you on this comment as soon as they are available to purchase again, either on CNC or a different vendor. Sorry for the delay
WOW GREAT BRO FOR SUB 250 grams thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Thanks very much! I will have a lot more SUB250 content coming out in the near future, I think😉
Great video bro👏👏
Thank you Fer! Appreciate it brother
dope i dig 2" x 2s :)
Ive been loving it lately! Cant wait to build more - maybe an HD version
@@MoeFPV im still flying with my old school FS HDO. Which HD goggle eco system have now?
I have the HDZ goggles currently. Couple that with an analog module and with the walksnail VRX and you have 3/4 of the systems ! I also bought a cheap pair of DJI V2 goggles off of eBay. But I do primarily fly analog still. What system are you most interested in?
Where can I buy it?
You can find the Frame here! 40mm, 45mm and 2" versions available. www.cncdrones.com/philip-hunter-.html

nice one thanks moe
Thanks Turion! Appreciate it
Damn now I’m getting more impatient I need a fucking aio for mine now. I’m doing a 1S 1102 22000kv 2” version with a happymodel x12/or elrs 2.4g aio
Please let me know how it flies ! This is the exact configuration I wanted to test but didn’t have the chance too. I think those 1102s will handle the 2” a lot better - I am curious about power and flight time. Hope you get your AIO ASAP !
@@MoeFPV def just sent in the aio that was DOA and once pyrodrone credits me imma order another.
I prefer 2s on 2inch aswell bro.
Same man - I really wanted to love it on 1s for the convenience but I got SPOILED as soon as I flew it on 2s lol
@MoeFPV definitely, my 2s 2inch is 32 grams, it's almost too quick. I love it.
@@CallistoFPV damn that’s LIGHT! What motors you running? I think these 1103s are a BIT much for this build but was such an easy swap out of the mob 8
@MoeFPV betafpv 1102 old 13500kv ones, (the new 14000kv would be good) with the X12, and on the cncdrones Pickle 2inch frame.
Micros aren’t dangerous UNTIL you’re standing on top of a military fort while Moe’s flying #neverForget 🤕
That’s why I’m confined

@@MoeFPV Mount a box of chocolates on a Cinewhoop. And fly to her. This is how beautiful dreams become. 😄
LOL i really like that idea - might be dangerous for her to pick one out though since i wont disarm ;)@@Sugalime3D_FPV
