Thanks for the awesome tutorial. I just mixed a song that had a flute VSTi which I ended up using the 1176 + LA2A in series method to tame. I wish had thought about trying the Black Valve instead of LA2A, I'm just not used to reaching for it (yet). I bet it's really sweet on woodwinds in general. I do like Steinberg's Pultec compressors because of the continuous control knobs. I really like the tooltips that they added to their plugins as well.

This being my favorite channel and Cubase being my best DAW since it was on a 3.1 diskette, I might be just a little bit biased... but man, I love this compressor, and all the new features in Cubase Pro!

I look forward to diving into C13!.......I've been wondering when the Steinberg team would do an La2a style comp. This sounds pretty nice, and this voc is perfect for it. I will say when pushed really hard, that pop/click transient that pokes through is a bit much for me, though in context of a mix you might not notice it. Steinberg keeps upping their game to where 3rd party plugs will be more and more unnecessary 😏👍
Yep, fell in love with this plugin from day one. Thanks for going through the knobs. Some of those labels are a bit misleading. And yes indeed, it's awesome with bass. Difficult to get a bad sound of of this one. My type of plugin lol. Thanks Dom, your vids have really helped me so much.
That vocal reminds me of Lacuna Coil. Nice video, interesting to see a stock plugin bringing some character, I've not even tried it yet!!

Dom with the market absolutely flooded with plugins I'd love to see someone pick out a bare bones package or collection of the most useful/needed plugins for effects and mastering. Selecting the absolute minimum that people would actually need. I know it's different for different genres but I bet most producers and music creators keep reaching out for the same plugins every time in their own music.
A video that would cut through the marketing crap and give us a good start of what actually would be useful in modern recording.

Good idea, but I'd start by saying that the stock Cubase plugins are now SO good that you really need nothing else other than that package to start with - including all the synths and samples. It's really quite overwhelming what you get. When I upgraded to V12, I went to the download manager and scrolled through what was available - I selected a bunch of interesting looking stuff - and I left it all downloading for 4 days!
I have to say that these new plugins really sound great!! I love the pulteq, this compressor and the Vocal plugin....superb stuff steinberg!! And great video as well!

I love this DAW. Been using it since 2007. But slate in my opinion has the best sounding plug-ins to date. Although I love all my Cubase plug-ins as well. So many options out there.
GUI also makes such effect of thinking a plugin sounds better
Like other plugins, use with care (your ears?)...enriches the sound, but too much takes away directness and attack/punch on my Bass Synth Group...a little touch of parallel compression in this instance...

hey Dom! I hope you can help me :) I looked on the cubase website for this but I haven't find anything helpful. I want to change the eq layout on the mixer from sliders to knob. I was able to change the setting in the eq channel setting, but now I only see knobs on the eq plugin but not on the mixer. Can you please help? Thank you!

It's your ears. The vocal gets smoothed really nice with -6 dB reduction and some drive

none use cubase, it is logic, ableton or pro tools, everything else is irelevant....
