  • This video shows how to make an oil filter strap wrench. The unique part, is the "add-on's" at the end of the video. This is the only tool you need for a complete oil change on any vehicle. It will wrench off any size filter, and take out any size oil pan plug.

I got tired of fumbling for all separate tools while I laid on my back. This idea has saved me a lot of frustration and bumps on the head. Glad you like it. Thanks for the positive comment!

Excellent Idea. The only thing I would do differently is to put a small machine screw with a nut through the split end instead of welding or squashing the end closed to prevent the strap from coming out of the tubing or to prevent the open end of the tubing from spreading open. Using a removable screw would allow a new strap to be inserted should it become too greasy or worn, but strap replacement may never be necessary.

I have one of these. I use a 1/2 inch drive on the pipe, works a treat.

Love the fact that it can fit on all sizes for filters. Simple idea someone had with this design. I once used my belt when I couldn't find my strap wrench....worked great.

thanks..but too hard,Often space is the major issue preventing various tools from working.Who tightens these oil filters..hand tight is good enough.

You could also just use a spanner on the square pipe to turn it.

Not in the selling business, but if you bought the pieces, I'm sure you could find someone that could weld it together.

Don't mean to be critical but that extension out the side is going to cause problems in tight spaces

It definitely could get in the way if the tool wasn't customized for the situation. Thats the beauty of making your own. You don't have to use the measurements that I have on mine. I have used this on many different vehicles for years now. I haven't had any hang-ups with it, but I'm sure there's some freak car or truck out there it may not work on. Haven't found it yet, but I'm sure it exists.

HA! people that have the skill to make this will know how to use it. However..... that probably would have made a much better video for sure. Thanks for the tip!

Ok. but mine was from scrap.....practically free. Also.... I'm not aware of a tool that does all this. Please share. Thanks for commenting
