My fave is my CAT strap wrench , second is my chain wrench and then the steel band style for small filters
Thanks for the video.
MST4568B matco one. I love it. Its so universal.
Will that work on Cummins and 7.3 oil filters?
Great info for anyone starting out!
Thank you
Just got my T-Rex's in today. They are giant! Thanks for the advice.
Phil i honestly have no oil fillter plyers i have a old gedore adjustable oil fillters strap all i use and if i cant get them loose knipex cobra or screwdrifer good Video keep up your great work 👍 Patrick
The ol’ screwdrifter, 60% of the time it works every time
I have a set of SK/craftsman USA groovelock pliers that have that same jaw size opening but the handle are like half the size and I also have some vice grips style pliers that are made for oil filters
Cool. I have a 10in pair of cobras. They are excellent and will bite hard onto anything. Also have the 7in pliers wrench as well.
Great review! I use a lisle 6 inch band style oil filter wrench for the Cat oil filters and then a pair of large pliers for the fuel filters
A chain wrench works well and if nothing else will work sometimes you gotta go to the air hammer
Some times
You know a tool is bad when the company wont put their name on it
For a old flee market find chain wrench. Those are my goto for air dryer filters
Chain wrench is definitely the way to go. If the band wrenches don't work and the strap wrench doesn't work, the chain wrench comes out. Bought a long 24" one from Crescent. Use it 60% of the time every time.
Those knipex, the strap/socket and the bluepoint strap filters are the holy trinity. Sometimes they are just so fucking tight.
I have those Matco pliers branded OTC and they just feel awkward. I’ve actually had little success with any filter pliers as I just don’t like the feel.
I have a like a few different brands of the strap style wrenches. I have the Matco/gearwrench ones, the snap on one you showed (actually 3 of that one) and the cat one I ordered from a local cat dealer PN : 185-3630. They all have pros and cons but the cats were my personal favorite. Just wish they were a little more robust for how much they are. Have a lot of issues with the snap rings popping off on stubborn filters.
Just recently I picked up some of the metal strap wrenches to try out similar to your bluepoint ones but used with a ratchet. Can never have too many tools haha
I got the one with the notches. I will get hold of that 22 cobras on of these days. Still in the bottom of the totem pole.
You are climbing
Then you get the oil filters the previous person that installed the oil filter that puts them on way too tight making them stubborn to remove. These people that do this, need to stay away from doing it
80ft lbs just like the oil plug and tires...real flat rate mechanic work smarter, not harder 😂😋
Ya I did say these were for removing filters lol but ya over tighten a filter 😡
I have just brought the knipex xxl. And I currently use a strap nothing beats that set up for plant or hgv
Ah yes the totem pole
The very first one that you talk about that u did not like i love that one but i use it for adjusting large pipe when i am gluing it works well for that
My Fav is the strap style you show but it has a 3/8 drive for your ratchet/extension
👍🏻👍🏻
I have the giant pair of Channellock's like you have there and they do a pretty good job on filters i can get at but those dam recessed in tight location filters really suck. where you can only reach it with a cup wrench or something they suck when you can't get in from sides just the end
Case sells a similar strap wrench as Cat, part # SC11000. Snap on makes them for Case I think, I would recommend them.
Thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻
That's a crazy set of Cobras dude. You only use that for removal?
I have bear like paws I use my hands to tighten 🤫
I'm surprised that you don't have any band style that use with a ratchet? But good video buddy👍
I love the lisle 53100.
@@bryanmeadows7742 Thanks, that looks nice. I have the OTC Heavy Duty Band Wrenches
Btw that is such a badazz workbench/toolbox!
I just use channel locks for most of my oil changes
Bought my stickers. Waiting for the shirt to be available.
Thank you
No problem bud. Make sure sizes go up to 3x or higher
How many time u been told u look like Russel crow.good vedio
Not to many but it has happened. Lol thank you

Funny thing is a guy broke his and asked me to have it replaced for him he has my old one and told me to keep the new one.
@@theheavywrench9549 i have that same snap on one its old as the hills
Hey from the UK what about a tour of the shop if you’re allowed
I would love to but I’m not sure about it.
Please put a link of the good ones
16" Channel Locks, 2 or 3 of them, and a big hammer can fix just about anything
Lol absolutely
Caterpillar part number is 185-3630
Part number on the knipex
The matco pliers are the tits on engine oil filters on cat 657s
Sent pic to your G mail
You use a oil filter🔧 wrench? Just use a screwdriver and a 🔨 hammer... amateur!😂😋j/k
Umm. Why not Use a air hammer lol
@@theheavywrench9549 type of hammer can be determined by your style and mood🤣
Jeezzuz kryzt dude you talk too much doe
