California Air Compressor Fix 5510SE : Bad Valve Fix for Free

This was purchased in an action lot. Ended up being a pretty easy fix, I can't believe they are charging $30+ for a feeler gauge.

Ive had mine since 2018 and used it every day for one reason or another. I would pay double for that little metal piece. Best compressor i e ever seen!!!

This works great! I took an old .005 feeler gauge leaf and used it to replace a broken reed valve on my compressor (Cal Air charges about $39 for one). Once it was all back together, I also replaced the air filters assemblies (found them online at amazon, 2 for $8.99) which were broken off and missing.
All of the sudden my compressor was quiet and my compressor was compressing and the easy-start valve snapped shut almost immediately! Thank you so much for the idea. I did not try to shape the end of the reed valve round, just cut it square. Thanks again!

Well mine took a poop yesterday, about 2 years old. Imma gonna take it apart an see if its an easy fix like yours.

Thanks for your video tracking down what was wrong with mine as well model A2010. I actually just used an Aluminum can and traced the good air diverter. Seems to work fine. Mine won't reset and rebuild pressure after using the tank up so I'm tracking that issue down now.
