    John, I have declared my whole life that I am not a baker. Nothing I ever made ever came out right…. Until now!! It actually brought a tear to my eye how beautifully this cake turned out. You know why? Because you told us not to beat the two mixtures, dry and wet, together too much because why? Because it starts the gluten in the flour!! Mind blown 🤯!!
    A great teacher never holds the secret to himself. He shares his knowledge so others can succeed. You did that.

    Just popped mine in the oven can’t wait to see how it turns out! Over the years, you’ve molded me into the designated baker of our family. My mom and I would bond over your recipes. I’d bake something new every week from your page and she’d casually ask…”is this another hit from John…?” as though you were part of the family. Unfortunately she passed suddenly a few months ago and I can’t watch one of your videos without thinking of her. Thank you for bringing us joy with every delicious bite . They are memories I will treasure forever💔

    I made it for Thanksgiving , that was a huge success. And 3 days after Thanksgiving I still got neighbors knocking at my door , asking me if got leftovers,some of my guests couldn’t believe it was homemade. Thanks a lot for sharing this awesome recipe @PreppyKitchen

    I baked this cake over the weekend! I think my hubby has eaten half of it. He did not want to wait for the frosting, because it smelled so good baking in the oven. I made him wait until it cooled, but he quickly ate 1, then 2 and finally 3 pieces. I cannot wait to make more of your bakes! Thank you!

    I just made this cake! It turned out amazing!!! I did half of the recipe and added a little bit less sugar (only 1/2 cup, for half of the recipe) and omg!!!!! The cake melts in your mouth! First time making frosting ever and it turned out sooo well too! Thank you for this recipe!

    I MADE THIS TODAY. IT WAS EASY AND FLAWLESS. you can use 2/3rds the sugar in the frosting and it tastes great. I put another teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of pumpkin spice mix.
    The cake is so fluffy and moist, just perfect texture. The frosting is sooo satisfying.

    Twice! Yes I made it twice this week... For my neighbor (who loved it and asked me for the recipe) and today for some friends... All of them were shocked!! I used homemade pumpkin pure (pumpkin from my vegetable garden). In one word, delicious. Thanks for the recipe.

    I just made this cake and it was to die for!!! The cake was so light and fluffy! And the frosting was so creamy! Definitely a keeper! I’ll be making this again and again!!

    I was really wanting to bake something but I’m trying to control my type 2 diabetes. So once in a great while , if I find a recipe that I really want to try, I make it and let myself have a special treat. This was it. I like simple, straightforward baking. The only problem was it’s a big cake, so I cut the ingredients in half and it worked perfectly. Thank you.

    I've always love pumpkin donuts but hate waiting until the fall for them to be on store shelves. Yesterday, I made this cake for my family with a brown butter cream cheese frosting and half a cup less of powdered sugar and OH MY GOD
    It was the best craving satisfaction ever. My family and I loved this cake. Thank you!

    I made this and it was great. Instead of 1 large cake I made 2. 8 inch rounds. I gave 1 to my neighbor who is recovering from surgery. He absolutely loved it.

    Hey, John. I made this recipe in a Bundt pan as a pound cake. For the frosting, same recipe you posted + 3 tbsp of the mashed pumpkin. It came out with an orange hue to it and everyone loved both the cake and the frosting. Thanks for all the great recipes!

    This is the second time I'm making it and it's a hit. My neighbors, church friends, family-everybody love this unique cake flavor. I skipped the frosting, I used homegrown homemade pumpkin puree and into the batter I put in nutmeg, cinnamon, a pinch of cardamom, candied ginger, tiny bits of candied orange peel, sunflower seeds and chopped walnuts+cashewnuts. Thank you for this recipe I'm gonna keep making it with a different twist

    I made this cake for Thanksgiving. Even using gluten free flour, it was AMAZING!! The frosting is ridiculously good and now I’m spoiled for any other. I think the key really is in SIFTING all your dry ingredients (separately and then again together) before mixing in the wet. Anyway, just excellent. 10/10

    Made this last night and finally a pumpkin puree recipe that comes out right, moist and fluffy (I tried many before and ended up with a dense bread feeling like it was not baked properly) so I'm happy and tastes so good! I let it cool down during the night and today I'm making the frosting ☺️

    I made this cake with half of the measurements and gluten free flour and it still turned out perfect!! So fluffy, moist and the spices give it an extraordinary smell and taste (I additionally added clove powder) 😁😁

    I honestly was USELESS when making cakes until this one. Even though my oven is too strong so it took me longer in a lower temp to have it baked evenly inside and out, this is the fluffiest most pillowy cake I have ever made. You are the best!!!

    John - my wife is the baker of the house, I cook everything else. I made this for her today and all she could do was laugh and say, "WOW!" The is literally my first try at baking anything sweet that didn't come from a box. Great Recipe!

    I love pumpkin recipes! They taste good and make the kitchen smell so inviting. Going to give this cake a try. My usual pumpkin cake is a mix of pie and cake. You just mix up the recipe for pumpkin pie, pour it into a 9X13 pan, then sprinkle a cake mix--either yellow, white, or spice--over the mixture, then pour a stick of melted butter over it, and bake till the custard is done, about 40 minutes.

    I had to come back and leave a comment! Made this last night and it’s absolutely delicious!!! Very moist and perfect in spices! Frosting wasn’t overly sweet and was fantastic with the pumpkin cake. The whole thing got eaten in less than a day! Everyone loved it!!
    Not to mention how easy it was to make!

    This recipe is delicious. I made it for my sister for her birthday, and she said it was the best pumpkin dessert ever. That is saying a lot because we love pumpkin in our family. Everyone loved it. It was slightly dry the first day, but after sitting overnight, some miracle happened and it was so moist and creamy. I didn't take mine out of the pan because I ran out of time, and it was perfect that way.

    It came out absolutely amazing. I added sugar to the frosting to my taste and made it less sweet. I used just nutmeg and cinnamon as spices. The cake had the perfect amount of sweetness, so fluffy and moist as well.

    One of my seasonal favorites! I like to add cloves to my batter. Also spiced pepitas make a beautiful garnish on the cream cheese icing. Can’t wait to try your version! 😋

    Just made it! It’s the best ever pumpkin cake I ever ate. Usually I’m not into whatever pumpkin but this recipe is certainly a keeper. The texture is fluffy and delicate like a cloud. And I used Libby’s brand as John suggested and weighed flour instead of using measuring cup. So delicious!

    John, I was planning on making a pumpkin bread or pumpkin pies until I saw this recipe. I just made this yesterday and it was awesome 5*****'s!
    I also followed the "tips" and could not believe that the line about the flour made so much of a difference. Light, moist and flavorful. "DISHLICIOUS!"

    We just made this cake yesterday and it is Delicious! Very easy to put together. The frosting is so good too, but you could just serve with a little powdered sugar the cake is that moist. Thanks for the recipe!

    Made this cake twice already. Yesterday, I made it to dole out to neighbors as we gave out candy to SO MANY KIDS (its Salem, MA, so there are lots)! Cut the confectioner/icing sugar in half for the frosting, but added a tablespoon of bourbon to it. I also garnish it with slivers of candied ginger. Next time, I want to try walnuts or dates and up the spices.

    Thank you for the Ted talk in mixing up a cake! I appreciate this tip! I have over mixed a few pound cakes in the past and wondered why they turned out gummy after it cooled. I now know the importance of not over mixing a cake. This Cake looks so moist and delicious. I can’t wait to make it!

    I am FOREVER in your debt, as you taught me (in this video) one very important thing that I was doing wrong and could never understand why……the overmixing the flour into the batter and the SINKING of the titanic !!     OMG! Thank you so much! Everyone loved this cake. This was by far the moistest and tastiest homemade cake ever. I have Costco's pumpkin spice and used this instead and used some ground cardamom as you had suggested. For the frosting, I did the brown butter, cream cheese, and only 2 c. Powdered sugar, it was perfect! Made it last night, brought 2/3 to work, coworkers really liked it. Thank you so much for the recipe! 🥰

    so I made this today and the family is complimenting it so a success! I somehow used a smaller pan so it was not done in the stated time as it was thicker in the middle however I just added some time and it was fine. The other thing I did was cut back on the sugar it just sounded so sweet and I less area to need to cover as well so I followed the recipe exactly except for the sugar I used just over 2 cups vs 3, it was very tasty. thanks for the detailed instructions I am a dolt in the kitchen so I had it out in front of me and rewound and watched quite a bit. Can't wait to try another one.

    I made this yesterday. Wow, the texture of the cake is amazing and the spices are the perfect amount, so many cakes the spices can be overwhelming, but this cake is perfect. And the frosting? Yeah, I was like a kid and licked off the beaters lol

    I made your pumpkin chocolate chip cookies twice last year, and used brown butter, and they tasted like HEAVEN. They were so perfect.     Dear sir.I checkup few of deferred people recipe 4 pumpkin cakes and i decided to try today your recipe..with my daughter.we use a big pumpkin cut it and boiling drain.600g.5 eggs.and extra ingred. Baking 1h.160c.came very nice.thank u.

    I just made this cake last night. I let it rest over night cuz I heard that cake is always better the next day. Well I must say, this cake came out SOOOO DANG GOOD! 😮‍💨🤤 I’ve never made a pumpkin cake before, but now this is gonna be the go to recipe for me! Definitely gonna bake another for my fam!
